I always loved the writers for making Addison likable. It would have been easy to make her a totally selfish bitch but she wasn't. She was just a person who made mistakes, the same as Meredith and Derek and she wasn't evil, just a flawed human who actually had a good heart. She even owned up to the fact she had driven Derek away with her affair. I really miss her character. I would say I wish she would come back to Grey's, but seeing how the writers butchered Teddy's character when they brought her back, I would rather they leave us with the memory of the Addison we loved.

Cristina-Owen-Teddy was a valid triangle that ended well. With Cristina in Sweden, Teddy in Germany and an alone Owen. The sad thing is they did a reboot with Amelia. Which is just weak and sad. Amelia deserved better than a recycled plot. She is a great character with great background and great development. She would have shone brighter if they didn't bury her with whatever recycled drama Owen has. But the truth is, there really is only one triangle on this show that is of great value. Meredith-Derek-Addison. The Ellis-Richard-Adele is a worthy runner up but Thatcher deserved to be included.

Addison Montgomery is imo one of the best written characters on television ever. She made a mistake cheating on Derek and it’s extremely annoying that there’s a lot of people who use that to blame the downfall of their relationship solely on that which is bullshit. Of course it was wrong and she shouldn’t have cheated but it makes sense that she did. She felt neglected. Derek admitted himself that he wasn’t being a good husband to her, he was absent and indifferent. Addison was starved for attention and Mark was there eager to give it to her. If you’ve seen Private Practice you also learn a lot more about how Addison grew up and that she has basically never seen a healthy and stable relationship in her life. It makes perfect sense that instead of confronting Derek about their marital problems she tried to get his attention by sleeping with Mark. Mark also deserves to be given some of the fault because he went after his best friends wife. And Derek gave up on his marriage with Addison. It’s perfectly understandable that he left when he found out about the affair but he could’ve made a different choice and fought for them much sooner. When Addison comes to Seattle she’s a much better person than Derek who honestly treats her like crap. He’s mean and disrespectful to her and even after deciding to take her back and try to salvage their marriage he really isn’t all in. He doesn’t try and strings her along for a year and ultimately cheats on her with Meredith. Meanwhile Addison is taking the punishment from him for cheating and punishing herself as well. She does her best to do better and takes accountability for her mistakes which makes her the bigger person. Additionally she’s nice and respectful to Meredith even though it would be understandable if she wasn’t. After her relationship with Derek is over she even tells Meredith she doesn’t hate her and asks Derek not to hurt her. She’s also much nicer to Derek than he ever was to her after being cheated on saying she thought he’d be a guy who wouldn’t hurt her even though he clearly did. She ended up becoming a fan of Derek and Meredith together because she just truly wanted them to be happy and she knew she had fought and lost and it was her time to let it go. Years later on Private Practice she has therapy and I think it isn’t until then that she realizes how messed up her entire life and major relationships have made her cause she’s always been with people who in the end were never quite right for her. If there’s any character in the Greys Anatomy universe who deserved a happy ending it’s her. She has come incredibly far and I’m so happy to see her finally find a love that is absolutely right for her.
