It's because we get our information about Genghis Khan (correctly written Chinggis Khaan) from a book called Secret History of The Mongols. It mostly talks about the good things he did like being loyalty, honor and mercifulness (sending missionaries before attacking) etc. Besides, no one except Mongolians can say 'our ancestor who started as a slave managed to conquer most of Eurasia'.
@Larry_Suave7 жыл бұрын
He is not comparable to hitler or stalin or people like that. Genghis Khan was a brutal conqueror for sure, but he was not an evil person in any way. He was quite caring and compassionate for those who were close and loyal to him, and he treated all the subjects in his empire fairly. Once you were incorporated into the mongol empire, you were given religious freedom, access to the largest economy in the world, and didn't have to worry about war because you were under mongol protection. It would have been comparable to living in the roman empire. At the end of the day the mongols probably had a positive effect on the world.

This is barely accurate. Genghis Khan was certainly brutal but he was also very innovative. If you read Genghis Khan in the making of the modern world which I have and is considered to be the most accurate history of his life you'll find that a lot of this is not true. I'm not going to list everything but he was actually very tolerant of religions and cultures as long as they submitted to the fact that he was the supreme ruler. He protected holy men teachers women and children etc. So long is basically they said he was the boss. He initiated a world mail system and protected trade routes and merchants. He also did not care of your status when you were born everything was earned in his culture. Which basically means you could have no name when you were born and rise to The top in his system and being born of high status meant nothing. he also took care of the families of his soldiers if they were to die in battle forever. I could go on and on but there's a lot of misconceptions about the Mongols actually. Don't get me wrong they were extremely brutal at times but very unique and progressive in other ways as well.

Great effort! Yet very inaccurate. I'd even say LOAAD of ....! Firstly, Great Steppe was always religiously tolerant, hardly ever really understood by westerners. Yassy, the nomadic code of conduct, was obeyed throughout the plains even without enforcement. He started off serving to a Christian Ong Knan (nestorian Naimani leader). Never did Shyngyz Qan (Shyn in old Mong. and Turk. means the peak of a mountain) mutilate or kill whomever without trying to avoid bloodshed. Don' wanna appear rude, but could not pass. Secondly, a guest is saint in the veldt. Robbing and killing a caravan of merchants by Otrar ruler, including a gold nugget a size of a horse head - a personal gift from Genghis Khan to Khorezm Shah Mohammad, was a great crime for nomads. none of the gifts made it to KSM. GK send another envoy, without the gifts this time, which made it to Khorezm. Great sultan, spared only three of them, mutilating the rest, and threw them out naked to the steppe. KSM was a cruel man himself, ruling with an iron fist of a professional Gulam army. Also, you have to look at your character in context. Se what on earth was happening in Europe those days, GK would seem an angel in comparison. I could go on, rather suggest you read Weatherford, Gumilev, Jan ("The Youth of the Warlord") or (faster) hear lections of Konstantin Kuksin. Otherwise, this is too narrow, too misinforming and quite arrogant presentation. You'll find out so much about him and the context that will probably make you wanna name your son a mongolian name .... and will revise this video. Wish you luck! Sorry if my outrage still got through

The mongols burned russian orthodox churchs then the mongols didnt tax them and allowed the russians to practice christianity since the mongols couldnt do much. Theres little evidence to show the effect these religious individuals had on the mongols and mongol empire.

WRONG! Your version of him killing his brother is inaccurate. His brother went hunting for food and was eating the food and not sharing it with the family. Genghis caught him doing so and killed him. They were hungry and the brother was hoarding the food before returning to camp. I'd say he had it coming.

@business38675 жыл бұрын
@@gregormundell1058 So by killing his brother does that make the food situation better, does it improve their chances of getting food in anyway ? One less mouth to feed? sounds like he was feeding himself. Your logic is non existent. I don't know but maybe he could threaten his brother or just take the food but killing a family member who at the very least can hunt accomplishes nothing.
@theeaterofsouls89076 жыл бұрын
For number 8, you seem to be forgetting that at the time, there was very little food, and in order to stay alive, it had to be shared. However, his brother refused to share the food. Consequently, Temujin killed him. Whilst this may seem brutal now, it was likely that his family may not have survived if he hadn't done that.

Not only that but in their culture the step brother would have had marriage rights to his mother as he was the eldest of his fathers sons so he had rights to his wives automatically. Ghenghis likely couldn’t stomach that his older brother would be his stepdad too.

The life story of Genghis Khan is the most inspiring ever. His father was killed by an other tribe when he was only nine years old. After that, the clan abandoned his family to live alone in the harsh cold of The Steppes. Temujin (Genghis) spent his childhood in hardships and slavery. He understood that only Power is survival. Luxury is just an illusion, and that it can end any moment, like it did after his father's death. His rise from a poor boy on a wasteland, to creating The World's Largest Empire is the most real and inspiring story ever told. He never sought war for plunder or wealth. He always retaliated as a last option. Just by analysing plain facts from his life, you can clearly tell that Genghis Khan had one of the strongest wills and principles. He is a role model for everyone

Number 2, why are you talking about Genghis khan but showing a picture of his grandson Khubilai khan. Also Genghis khan promoted religious freedom. There were mongols who were Christian, Muslim, and Buddhist. You could practice any religion in the mongol empire for free, in the Islamic empire you had to pay taxes to practice a religion besides Islam. In the Roman Empire Christianity was the only legal religion. When I say Christianity i only mean catholic because any other sect of Christianity made you a heretic or pagan. This is absurd please consult other people before posting a inaccurate video.

Just a bit of background...The picture you used at 7:41 is of Sikh guru Arjun dev ji. He is considered a great martyr. The Mughals of India were trying to force Sikhs into Islam. The Sikhs refused and fought against Mughals. Sikhs fought against Mughals for centuries and prevailed. Sikhs finally established Sikh raj in 1800s. Guru Arjun dev ji was boiled to death in 1606 in the city of Lahore (ironically the city became Sikh capital 2 centuries later). I have read somewhere that Mughals were descended from Mongols.

+Hablayo pakistan became an independent nation in 1947 before that it was all India. The Sikhs established Sikh kingdom in 1800 under maharaja ranjit Singh. Lahore was the capital of Sikh kingdom.Ranjit Singh died in 1839, his sons and grandson tried to control the kingdom but due to inner conflict and betrayal by dogras the Sikhs lost the kingdom to British in 1849. Most of the Punjab (both punjabs Indian and Pakistani) was under Sikh kingdom. I am a Sikh and I like to read about Sikh history.

What bugs me the most is first, the description of the video. If I understand correctly they claim Genghis Khan was there before Attila the Hun and roman emperors. Not only that, the 40 million death toll claim. The 40 million death toll is the number for the Empire from 1206 to 1368 yet they always say ''Genghis Khan is responsible for..." Claiming Genghis Khan is responsible for all these deaths is like claiming that all the deaths caused by the british empire can be put onto the first king of the empire, even the killings that were done in the 19th century.
