I truely enjoy when you splice in clips of you being you, messing up lines, exaggerating voices...it makes your videos so warm and inviting, and gives a sense of--'we're all friends here'. Been watching since you were a wee channel of a few thousand. You have grown exponentially, but have retained your style.

Best watch channel on KZbin bar none. I love the way you are not a snob and get excited about the cheaper watches and judge them on their merit not just their price tag. I went through a divorce recently which means most of my watch money vaporised but you have got me back into watches which I can afford. Would love to buy you a coffee if you're ever in London. Have a great Sunday. Pete.

My ten essentials: 1. Portable water flask. A must in the heat. Stainless steel if possible. 2. Deodorant. A lot of smelly people around in the summer. I recommend Schmidt's Charcoal & Magnesium deodorant stick. 3. Moisturiser with SPF. I use Bulldog as it doesn't leave my skin greasy. 4. No-show socks. Avoid sweaty feet while still looking like you're bare foot. Genius! 5. All-white sneakers. Comfortable for all day walking and they go with any casual outfit. I like the Lacoste court shoes. 6. Bit loafers. In contrast to what you said in the video, I think they look classier than other loafers. 7. Sunglasses. I don't like Luxottica, so I have a pair of Cerutti aviators and a wayfarer by Zadig & Voltaire. 8. Lightweight breathable jacket, for the cool evenings. I go for bombers and linen blazers. 9. Floral shirts. It's not summer until these get their time to shine! 10. Summer cologne. I'm really liking Oud Minerale by Tom Ford that came out recently. Also try Millesime Imperial by Creed.

Sunglasses tend to get lost, get sat on, get dinged up one way or another - I found the most comfortable, cheapest ($3.00) sunglasses - Carhartt 'Billings' sunglasses. I wear them when I am bicycling. Also every gentleman should get to know a good tailer. Nothing speaks refinement, style and class like a bespoke suit. Also in your case you have gotten smaller; a good tailor can take in your favorite sport jackets and you can look great again in them. It it easier to take in than to let out. I enjoy your you tube videos very much. Keep up the good work.

Little tipp here for the jacket: I would buy a linnen blend with wool or silk in it. It wears cool and you don't have the trouble with wrinkles. A badly wrinkled pure linnen jacket can shorten your sleeves up to an inch which looks odd, especially in combination with a polo or t-shirt.

Hi TGV! The piece along the side of your face on glasses is simply called the "temple". My favorite sunglasses for 35 years now, are Serengeti. They have numerous styles with the thinner temple pieces as well as wider models. Not only are these top-notch summer glasses, but in my opinion are the best driving glasses on the market. They work great in summer weather, and even in rainy, overcast weather they cut out the blue glare and make visibility so much better and safer.
@ADamiani0076 жыл бұрын
Well done Sir. I agree with most items on your Summer list... although personally, I have a few "summer bags" to put items in, thus avoiding overstuffing the pockets of my summer shorts with my wallet, keys, gum, cell-phone, glasses... and so forth... which kills the "relaxed" summer look. A casual bag with a strap, nothing too "cute", works well. Cheers....

My summer essentials: 1. Shoes: I like to keep several pairs. It's nice to have some rotation so you don't have to wear sweaty shoes and of course you need different ones for different occasions. My favorites are Meermin suede loafers ( a bit more formal), boat shoes from Henri Lloyd, sand color suede espadrilles and Rivieras slip on shoes (incredibly breathable and comfortable due to the weaved upper) 2. Linen on everything. Linen shirts, linen trousers, linen jackets. Check out Suitsupply for amazing value. 3. Sun glasses: Ray ban clubmasters with the green lense and brown tortoise shell frames and Ray ban round with the green lense and brass frames. I like to have two different styles to suit different occasions. The Clubmasters are a bit smarter. 4. Watches: just avoiding leather straps. 5. Knitted polo shirts (again, check Suitsupply or H&M for more affordable ones) I personally prefer the knitted fabric to the classic polo fabric. 6. A chunky jumper for the cooling evenings. One of my favorites is a thick cotton cricket jumper from Charles Tyrwhitt (another brand I would recommend for great value) but unfortunately I think they stopped making them. 7. A nice panama hat made from natural straw. Only for when travelling in the more southern parts. Need to keep my scalp from not burning to a crisp. 8. braided suede leather belt.

Love Lacoste Polos. Have quite a few of them myself. They are classics. I have found the original Lacoste Polos that were made in France were of the best quality. I still have a few shirts I bought 18 years ago and still fit. The new ones made in In Peru, I have found don't last as long and wear out sooner. New Balance running shoes are great. Have also owned several pairs over the years and are built with great quality.

1. Boat shoes. To be fair I rock these year-round, but perfect for everything. I prefer Sebago’s schooner model to anything sperry, quality is much better 2. OCBDs, worn open at the collar and with sleeves rolled up. 3. Aviators. If possible, track down a vintage pair from the made in USA, Bausch and Lomb days 4. Tote bag. LL Bean is the classic, but I prefer Filson, being a northwest guy 5. Shorts. Patagonia 7” Stand Up shorts have a nice high waist and a classic fit, so they have a “rugged ivy” look in the city but pull double duty for all outdoor activities 6. Penny Loafers. Again, Sebago has a nice model for not much money, and they hand everything from BBQs to business casual 7. Pullover crew neck sweatshirts, ideally in heather gray. Perfect for cool evenings, and if your college doesn’t make a classic one then hit up Todd Snyder. 8. Lacoste Polo. Sadly associated with frat bros, they’re simply the most comfortable garment made. Black, always in black. 9. Mint. It grows like a weed, you just need a pot and a window, and BOOM, mojitos all summer. 10. Skx007 on the original jubilee bracelet. Works anywhere, any time-the perfect companion. Have a great summer!

Maybe this will make you laugh, I hope so. I'm a keen follower of your channel, you pop up almost daily with your bits, be it watches, your books, your home and so on. I like your channel I have to say, you make me smile. As a watch check, I just bought the blue dial Sky Dweller in SS and love it (and crashed it already). Big scratch. I have a large collection of watches that I rotate day by day, so we are on the same channel. I also worked with Aston Martin for 32 years before resigning and moving to Amsterdam...............But in you 10 mens essentials, that made me laugh the most. You NEVER mentioned underwear!. Now come on, are you a boxers man or a briefs man, hipsters or deep cut, Calvins or Jockey or ?. You are far too slick to go Camo I know, so hey guys, what about the stuff that is holding your most precious play toy!! I'd guess (and be wrong) UG, you love the classic Calvins, since you are in the USA, but like the 10 days power reserve of the Oris Manual wind Business watch, operating American Underwear is hopeless. What the f......k design is that?. If you are of a reasonable size, you simply can't get it out!...... and your thumbs bleed when you wind that 10 day bitch. I know, I tried it. 124 winds to fill it up!......... You can't beat the good old Marks and Sparks Y fronts, purely a one hand job, while you can enjoy your second hand for something else, don't need to undo anything accept your zip and out he comes. Do the business and throw him back in. That's about as efficient as a Rolex Oyster.........., how daring and imaginative are you going to be to touch this most 'un-talked about subject'. I regard my underwear as important as my shoes, but you never mentioned a whisper about the subject. Keep up your great slightly cheaky channel, it's super cool and still very English. Hug..... Mark, Amsterdam.

A fun essentials video TGV. Enjoyed it very much. I’d have to say one of my summer essentials is a quality V necked T shirt i can mix for different every day situations. It gets quite hot here in Western Australia, so keeping cool while trying to maintain a modicum of class can be a bit of a balancing act. In-fact, as i type this, it’s the 3rd official day of winter and I’m sitting here in my V neck T shirt and shorts! 21 degrees (Celsius) outside and sun is shining. Sunglasses weather. Espadrillas are essential for me too. I use to have long summer walks, up to 5 miles, and they protect my feet while keeping them relatively cool (exposing my feet is not an option for me either). I also got a small collection of ultra cheap polos from various brands, plus a nice second hand Ralph Lauren I picked for €15 (definitely the best in the bunch). And of course, a summer hat to protect me from the mercyless Italian sun. I chose a 10X palm straw cowboy hat (Texan style) by Bullhide for $40. I get the most puzzled looks by people on the streets, but who cares: it's light, comfortable, and protects my head allowing it to breathe. Wide brim so I don't need sunglasses anymore. Talking about sunglasses, have you ever checked out Polaroid? They're great but you need to try them before buying since their polarized lenses don't get along with certain LCD screens.

Something I felt was missing was a sun cap, always wear one during the Summer together with my sunglasses. Important to avoid some caps that cut into your forehead, some cotton ones tend to do that, so for the summer I favor the lighter synthetic ones, with very light colors: white, or light gray, or sand/khaki. I've worn some Nike ones several times till getting them too worn out, they are very very comfortable. Unfortunatelly I've lost some of my favortie caps over time, and I still miss some of them. Here in Europe, options I find super comfortable as well as super affordable are caps from the Decathlon stores, Kalenji or Forclaz brands, highly recommended
