He even has a technique, Yamata no jutsu, which turns him into a 8 headed serpent before being attacked by Itachi's Susanoo, paralleling the Japanese legend. Edit: And Orochimaru is seen pulling out the Kusanagi sword from his mouth a couple of times. The real Kusanagi sword (an imperial regalia of Japan) was said to have be taken out of Yamata no Orochi's head after it's death by Susanoo

Just so you know, the Latin American Spanish dub of Tamers was both uncensored and outrageously Mexican (with lots of slang thrown there and there) in Orochimon's episode, as he was kidnapping Jeri, she tells the group "Don't worry guys, my dad's got me used to dealing with drunk men"

Yeah, that was the original script. Essentially Juri (seriously, they named her Jeri in the West, like American children can't pronounce the "u" in Juri!)'s family owns a bar and she helps serve the customers every now and then. She is used to dealing with drunk men because of that.

As much as I like the voice actors in the English dub, the censorship ruined some of the greatest moments and even characters, looking at you Apocalymon. The pizza joke just straight up ruined his character. Don't get me wrong, I like both the sub and the dub, but the reason why I stick with the sub is not because of bad voice acting, but because of the terrible censorship.

I'm very surprised Gotsumon and Pumpkinmon's deaths, sorry, "condemnation to Myotismon's dungeon" wasn't here. Really, it was one of the very few times a Digimon dub ever tried to censor plot relevant deaths this way. _Adventure_ had this weird thing where villains killing their minions was often censored (Gotsumon/Pumpkinmon, DarkTyrannomon, WaruMonzaemon) but sympathetic supporting characters dying was usually totally untouched (Wizardmon, Piximon, Chuumon, Whamon, Leomon). There was even an inconsistency _within a single episode_ where Machinedramon slaughtering a large group of sympathetic Numemon was uncut but him offing his villainous minion WaruMonzaemon was made out to just be a maiming ("he shot my paw!").

There was some necessary censoring in an episode of 02. In the episode where Kari is taken to the Dark Ocean, the Divermon there decide that they want her to be their queen in the dubbed version and try to drag her into the Dark Ocean. The censorship seem to be heavily focused on the Saban era of Digimon (aka Advetures, 02 and Tamers) which was toned down due to the fact that Fox kids is pretty conservative. It's okay to have angels and devils (those are okay) but it seems having things referencing biblical names. By the time we had the Disney era (Frontier, Saviors) it kinda was more or less a bit more lax on digimon names (just issues with sex and the Citirmon thing was due to a post 9/11 issue)

All the same though, I cannot imagine how much worse the censorship would have been if 4-kids dubbed it. Even with all these cut Digimon still got away with more than Pokemon ever could. What about the Bath scene in the original Digimon like in the scene Gomamon was in the girls side on accident in the Japanese version Gomamon was tossed by Palmon and when he is in the other side of the bath Joe was knocked by him and he was laying down naked, in the English version it was completely censored and replaced it with the characters saying where did you come from?

I haven't watch digimon in dub in forever since they heavily censore it and most of the serious moments are cut with silly dialog. Plus the insert songs are gone

In Turkey this censored Foxkids versions never aired we had uncensored Japanese versions of it. But translations were very inconsistent esspacially in zerotwo. Character names changed episode to episode, english ones to japanese ones. After the low raiting of Tamers due to popularity of Beyblade we never saw digimon again after first 13-14 episode of Tamers.

I agree with some of the censoring, but then the early 90s and 2000 was a pretty controversial time they were trying to adapt the show to children for people to watch and buy toys I was at that age so I understood what they were thinking but you got to admit some of them are ridiculous.

Plus, as the anime aired on Fox Kids and UPN, they had to follow their Broadcast Standards and Practices as well as standards changing with time(the removal of the Buddism reference in Digimon Season 1 is mainly due to some networks wanting to stay neutral when it comes to religion, hence why NBC censored VeggieTales, and the censoring of firearms was possibly done to avoid being insensetive, as parents who lost kids to school shootings actually cartoons and video games for the tragedies instead of using common sense and finding the true reason why they happen and how to keep it from happening again, although in Season 2, Deputymon got a pass until Digimon Fusion).

Weirdly enough in Germany we didn't have that much censorship. The Sake was called Sake in Tamers and we even had the original Bombs in Data Squad. Through I think it's funny that they went to such lenghs to censor some things so much

Its too much awesome. They completely botched the series with its overtone action and fanservice, the characters have no depth to them they're completely one dimensional. This reboot doesn't outclass its predecessor as Toei were like Quantity over Quality, that why you see Omegamon, Xros, Frontier and Armor digimon (armors that apparently exist before their digicrests). Its like the writers lost touch with what makes Digimon so cherished (reason we got Tri.). Instead of rebooting shows why not adapt Mangas or better yet continue the series to piece together plot that hasnt been answered. Like Satanmon, the Dark Ocean, the things that made Ken go haywire all that stuff, instead of introducing new characters like Mei and reinventing old series? Its just mutiny. If you prefer non stop action and explosion then you'll love this show but if you like indepth plot story with characters that you can personally relate to then its best to stick to the og Digimon shows up to Savers.

@@a105-s9d But Adventure 2020 is a completely separate canon from the 1999 anime. Even character backgrounds are different, most clearly seen in that Yamato seems to be living with his grandparents and yes I know it was Summer Vacation but to me it kind of seemed that he lived there because they made it a plotpoint that Taichi did not ask where he lived. So armor digimon can exist because this is a different world.

My first pick was Magnamon's ultimate attack 'Unlimited Jihad' where he attack with suicidal explosion strong enough for an armor digivolution to earn a seat within the royal knights. Magnamon is also an Arab origin digimon which just earn the entire episode cut when I first watched it. Back then there were not yet youtube... and I wish to know what happened between wormon and buimon how Daisuke and Ken fought... turn out they didn't... Takeru was the one knocking some sense in him. Sooo many plot happened in one episode...
