I think it depends not just on nail polish, but on the fingers too. With the thumb and pointer, especially on the right hand, we do much more, than with other fingers. You should now apply the "good" nail polishes to pointers and thumbs and the "bad" ones to the other fingers and we will than see, if there is any difference in the results. Thank for Your work!

To be completely fair, you’d have to paint both hands in one brand and wear for a whole week for each one. Essie is overrated imo, but OPI lasts the best for me. This comes from over 35 years experience painting my own nails. I use Seche Vite fast dry top coat, Orly bonder and my mani’s last 7-10 days. Everyone always asks if they’re gel nails but I attribute the shine and hardness to the Seche Vite. It also helps to wear gloves for chores, don’t pick your nails or use them as tools and I definitely don’t file them after they’re polished. Just sayin’ 😉
@christinafix45913 жыл бұрын
I love this, but you just can't compare a pinky on your non-dominant hand to your index finger on your dominant hand. The index is a workhorse while the pinky just chills. Super gorgeous colors on all 10!

Also if you plan on wearing polish for 7 days applying a top coat every 2 to 3 days helps. And use oil and a good hand cream to keep your hands and cuticles from drying out. It helps prevent your polish from drying out and wear gloves when washing dishes.

Make sure to get a good quality topcoat :)
@mrskaa75842 жыл бұрын
And do 2 coats of top coat to start, and reapply the top coat every other day or so (depending on how hard you are on your nails) re capping the free edge each time. By 7 days, 10 days etc you should have a thick grow out that looks very gel like. The other major key is letting all layers dry well in between applications, I wait at least 5 minutes between base, 2 -3 layers each of color and 2 of top coat. If you choose quick dry, all the better. I always use a quick dry top coat, it helps to dry the whole manicure quickly.

For OPI, the infinite shine line is the best. I'm a nail tech and I use that when I dont wanna take the time to do my nails and it lasts during a weeks worth of clients. But gotta use their base and top and cuticle oil daily

I'm Brazilian, and I found it so interesting the way you paint your nails! In here, we reach all the wide nail, including a bit of cuticles, and then we clean it up with a polish remover soaked cotton, wraped in a stick tip. It's always good to see different ways of doing the same thing!

I was excited when i saw this topic, but I feel like the review was a little off. You wipe way too much polish off the brush when applying. There’s nothing wrong with thin coats, but you’ve gotta have product on the brushes to get even strokes and all that. Also, dominant hands do chip faster because it’s used more.
@katiemyraxo3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, my pinky always shines past the 5-7 day mark while my pointer finger and thumb do not last past 4 days. It more depends on which nail is used more as well as in more wear and tear. But anyway, you have beautiful nails! 🤍

Yay. Love this. Idk if olive and june is supposed to have base coat. 🤔 does that change the results? LOve OLIVE and JUNE!!! 🥰😍It could easily last a week! Use their top coat too. And quick dry drops. Yesssssss
@teribirrell3 жыл бұрын
You touched on it, but as someone obsessed with nail polish, nail art, and most especially the indie nail polish community, your biggest factor in the results you got was which finger each polish was applied to. Your ring and pinky fingers ALWAYS get less use and wear and tear than your thumb and index, everyone’s most used fingers and your middle, which is your longest finger, therefore the one you will “bump” the most. If you put that exact Essie and OPI on your ring fingers, and the Nails Inc on your right index, you would have the exact opposite results, with Essie and OPI “winning”. The only way to somewhat accurately compare is to wear the same polish on all 10 fingers, each for the same length of time with the same application process, so 10 weeks of “testing”. There would obviously be some variables there still, as I doubt you’d be doing the exact same things every day during all 10 of those weeks, but it would be more accurate than the current skittles mani (btw, that’s what a mani with multicoloured polishes is called) you tested. Nice video anyway tho!

One of my favorite topics. My favs are Zoya, Orly (not breathable), Cnd Vinylux and Ella & Mila Except for cnd vinylux, i use and recommend Zoya Naked Base and Zoya Glossy Seal. The combination helps polish last with normal wear and tear. For Cnd Vinylux I use either Cnd Sticky base, even though you don’t have to use a base, or, as I said nothing. I think using a base helps it last. I use the cnd vinylux top coat. Cnd vinylux is the only polish I use that is either not vegan or animal friendly. Orly Breathable doesn’t require a base. But, even so, It just peeled off. China Glaze did the same, color separation that doesn’t always resolve and thin coverage. Essie and Revlon do the same. OPI is ok. They have the worst base and top coat. I prefer Infinite Shine Opi. I don’t have experience with the others you tested. Oh, I love you, you are a cuticle picker. So am I. Bless you.

I think it really depends on the person and their nails too how well polishes last 🤭 On me most brands last at least 7 to 9 days, even with my heavy duty manual job, on others with for example more flexible nails, polishes chip within 2 days 😅 Really loved this wear test video though! I think this is a good video and it helps to show the thickness and how it goes on the nail in the beginning, but it does depend on what you're doing during the day and also the different fingers. My pinkies are normally always fine, my ring fingers are normally always fine, but my thumb and my my middle finger and my pointer finger always get messed up within a day or so. Only time I've ever had my nail polish last an entire week is almost 10 years ago when I used OPI base coat top coat and the color strawberry margarita which is still my favorite but I haven't used it in years cuz it's too expensive.
