Anaheim Ducks & Florida Panthers came into the NHL during the 1993-1994 season after the 28 overtime games in the 1993 Playoffs. The Tampa Bay Lightning came into the NHL in the 1992-1993 season.

2000 had only 9 overtime games Amazingly that was with games 5 AND 6 of the Cup Finals going to OT B2B

One thing I hate is NHL play-off overtime because it can go indefinitely. This is just unhealthy and exhausting. It can't be good neither for players or spectators. I wish they just make one 10 minute overtime and then shoot the penalties. Another idea is this - play games like regular season until one team has number of wins that other team can't match. If game is tied - ok, count as 1/2 win. Lets say, team 1 wins 3 games and ties 2. At this point, they won the series. If at the end of game 7 each team has 3.5 wins, only then play overtime. In fact, I don't even like the video. Monotonous chain of teams, names, etc. after 3 minutes it is all mixes in the brain. I just scrolled to the #1 and this is the only info that slightly interesting - a single season with most overtime games.

Honestly the years with the most overtimes are the worst. I prefer when the overtimes are more rare so they mean more when they occur.
