XLuthfi No That was the point though. The ending to gon’s journey was supposed to be somewhat anticlimactic. Hxh wasn’t just about gon finding his dad, but about the journey itself. Gon started out with a simple goal but rarely do we see him actually actively working towards that goal. Instead, he is enjoying, to quote ging, “the sidetrips” along the way.

You can’t travel the new world without haki and expect to not get destroyed, of course you can literally sail through it but you won’t be beating people who can use haki if you can’t. @@burkles4456 I meant system. Sorry. Why I feel like its inconsistent is because a) It's said that you can't "beat"(cuz you said beat and not travel) people in the new world without haki. Yet, we saw Ace do it. He was a commander for one of the yonko. And he even got a bounty of half a billion berry. Zoro said "we will be attracting stronger marines and bounty hunters" when he got the first bounty, which was relatively low to Ace's. Yet, Ace was not "defeated" after he joined wb pirates until Blackbeard, and didn't even know haki. WB didn't teach his second commander haki? We all get that he was strong, but teaching his comrade haki would have helped him escape bb without getting captured.

I found it amusing how when Nux is explaining JoJo's magic system, he's explaining the Zanpakuto from Bleach. The reason each Zanpakuto ability is unique is because it's a manifestation of the Soul Reaper's true nature/personality. And to learn Shikai and Bankai and unleash these abilities, the Soul Reaper must understand themselves via communicating with their Zanpakuto spirit, an entity born from their own respective reiatsu. Take Soi Fon for example. Her Shikai perfectly encapsulates her ruthless side as an assasin, while her Bankai showcases her more violent, explosive side. She hates her Bankai because it's a fuck off nuke and that runs counter to her job as an assasin. But it's a part of her personality and who she is, whether she likes it or not. That's why I love the magic system in Bleach so much. Although each faction has their own unique magic system, which by itself is really cool, the Soul Reaper's Zanpakutos are the most fascinating to me.

Jutsu arent usually like that, I mean the ones that specific characters use make sense for their personality and backstory, but they are skills that usually have to be learned and expanded upon consciously. Zanpakuto abilities and bankai (and semblances from ruby) arent really chosen or learned from a teacher, they are just discovered. Bankai dont change too much usually, they have their weaknesses, they can be used creatively and be used in teamwork like any power but some bankai are more about brute strength. Semblances from rwby are a cool idea on paper, they are a unique superpower which can grow and manifest new abilities that probably fit the theme of their original semblance. Semblances seem to all be useful enough to save the life of the user. They are usually unlocked right when the user might die and it saves the user, it would be a real shame to get a new power up which was meant to save you and it still doesn't do that.

Hunter x Hunter is one of, if not my favorite power systems. I love how men takes in to account both natural born talent, and hard work training and experience equally. In most systems, natural talent is the only thing that really matters. If someone has grade A level natural talent, odds are, they are going to totally steam roll pretty much anyone and everyone with any lesser level of natural talent. Won't matter if they have litterally decades of training and experience more then the level a guy, he still going to in. But in Hunter x Hunter that is not the case. At least as far as I have seen, which is into the chimara any arc, about mid way. Till this point, having natural born talent is important. It can make a huge difference for sure. But, working hard and training, and especially experience, are just as if not more so important.

Yeah honestly I'd say the opposite. Power systems suck and restrict storytelling and believability. And it leads to Dragon Ball levels of ridiculousness where they just get to a point where suddenly you cant tell a grounded story anymore because your characters are literal gods. It's why power scaling is almost entirely a development of anime and manga and not a thing in any other medium that tackles fantasy

@@keegan112099 That's why I prefer swiss army super powers (powers that appear simple but become more powerful as you apply them more creatively), you can make a character stronger without the risk of ass pulls. One of my favorite examples is in Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive, one of the abilities shown is called surge binding, it allows the user to infuse people or things with stormlight with a technique called lashing. Users can run on walls, lash people to roofs, using this they can stick people's feet to the ground, or out maneuver your opponent, this core ability doesn't change (as far as I know being in the middle of the second book), but it's no surprise (minor spoiler I guess) when a character uses it to fly. It's a very simple power with a lot of applications.

I have to agree with Nen. Nen is so elaborate and as you said there is no limit to the bizarre abilities and functions to the applications of Nen. Some are just downright simple and bolstering the abilities only requires more training and concentration whereas others become stronger through passion or psychology. It's an expansive and mysterious power kind of like the Force in Star Wars. Actually, it has the functions of many other power systems as well which adds to it's mystery and power. The biggest meathead or juggernaut can fall to a deemable weaker ability but that ability can effectively dismantle the strongest ability and power. I love tales and stories that have a mysterious element that gets the reader thinking of what else is possible.

(let me have this, I want to try and explain) So NEN is the ability to use and control your aura. I was trying to write this all from my memory, but I ended up looking most stuff up so. oh well You have 4 basic principles; REN, TEN, ZETSU, and HATSU. ZETSU is concealing your aura so your presence isn't felt. TEN is more like, focusing your aura flow around your body that normal aura, that just flows away. REN is activating your aura and releasing it. HATSU is what allows you to create your ability. After things get a little deeper and the more complicated things NEN can do. The more 'advanced techniques'. GYO by focusing aura on your eyes, you'll be able to see someone aura/NEN and their ability. IN unlike ZETSU that conceals your aura, you hide it. So it makes it impossible to sense or see. Even using GYO (i think) EN is when you output your aura into this bubble sort of. You can sense everything that comes in your bubble. "I can count the number of leaves that fall when using EN." SHU is when you 'expand' your NEN to also go on objects. KO is when you focus all of your aura into one point of the body. It's totally protective and powerful, but leaves the rest of your body vulnerable. KEN is the 'ultimate' defense bc it's keeping TEN up for a long time. RYU. Since KO is too powerful and using 100% of your aura in one place will destroy your body, RYU is when you level out the percent of aura between that point and the rest of your body. Your Nen will start to like, evolve. Here, is where your personality takes play, which then affects your Nen. There's Enhancers, Emitters, Manipulators, Transmuter, Conjurers, and speicalist. If been trying to write this all morning and now I'm tired. No one even wants this, literally no one asked! Ugh, whatever. Conjurer60% Specialist0% Here are the basic descriptions of what each category does, but this is turned into a technique later Enhancer: nen is used to increase physical skills Emitter: nen is released from the body at long distances Conjured: nen is turned into a specific object Transmuted: the behavior of nen is changes to mimic a certain thing( ex gum) Manipulator: using nen to control an object or person Specialist: using nen for a purpose not listed, though it commonly revolves around controlling others nen After you learn your hatsu and what it does it’s time to create a technique. A good example is a transmuter ability to make your nen have the properties of rubber and gum, so you can make it elastic or sticky. If this isn’t good enough, you can also use other hatsu categories an example of which is clone, which makes a double and is a combination of conjurer and manipulator. The weakness of clone is that the user is an enhancer so the technique is only 60% effective. Next is binding vows: Basically, you only have so much nen to use when making your technique so you want to use a binding vow to get more or perhaps gain so other advantage. The best example of a binding vow is kurapimas technique emperor time. It lets kurapika use every hatsu type at 100% efficiency at the cost of only using nen against the phantoms troupe. So bringing this all together a nen ability could be the ability to instakill anyone . You don’t have enough nen though so you establish the condition the they have to enter your nen and they have to trust you deeply

I really love how much the stands represent the users. some of my favorite ways stands represent their users are: 1. Leone Abbacchio: Moody blues is a stand that can appear as a person at any point in time that is the past, this represents how Abbacchio dwells on his past 2. Bruno Bucciarati: his stand can create zippers, the zippers act as normal magical zippers and sometimes even portals. This represents how he brings people together and also how his family was torn apart. 3. Guido Mista: His stand rides on bullets and kicks the bullets, they are also really loud and hungry so yeah. That represents how mista likes guns and how he is also loud and hungry. 4.
