When you dry your hands, use a clean towel, or a paper towel. To avoid contaminating your clean hands, do not dry your hands with a towel that you have used before. Also, I have found that highly scented hand soap can throw my test numbers off a bit. I now use a glucose meter that has a test solution. Every time I open a new box of blood glucose strips, I test with the solution. Great video! Inconsistency in test numbers can be frustrating!

I've actually got 4 different glucose meters .I've had times where I've had all indate test strips and used 3 meters at the same time . The difference in readings was very surprising and went from 4.2 to 4.7 to 5.3 for my fasting . I regularly test but never take the meter readings as gospel anymore .
@fyc552 жыл бұрын
The international standard of these meters is +/- 0.88, try to read their instructions in the manuals. The readings are for reference only, if you want an accurate result, ask for a lab test.

Also could you please do a video about your supplements and your recommendations with respects to proper dosage? I am prediabetic trying hard not to become diabetic. Thanks for your help with this and for sharing your knowledge and insight into this loathsome disease.

Three things that will help you the most . Lose enough weight not to have an obese BMI . Aim toward normal weight. Avoid sugar and starchy foods. Get at least 150 min of exercise a week, can be walking or any moment you like and can sustain. Do not Rely on supplement first. Food , weight, exercise are the three most important thing in that order. Also get you lipid panel done. Triglyceride/ HDL ratio must be under 2.0, and an ideal is close to 1.0. Berberine 500 1-2 to a day depend what you blood sugar is. Do purchase a meter and strips , and test after meal too. Must have under 140 mg/dl one hour after a meal, and 120 mg/dl is possible. If you blood sugar is over 125 in the morning you are too high. Get on Metformin ER extended release . Prediabetes really mean early onset diabetes, do not mess around with it it’s quite serious. I hope this really helps you. James Kantor in Raleigh, NC

Love your Vids Dr. Ergin....Topic suggestion: the effects on blood sugar with the use of prednisone i.e. diabetics with comorbidities (RA, MS, AS). i am on keto...no refined carbs at all...i depend on my meter for accuracy as dosing fast acting insulin like lispro can be challenging at times. Lantus is pretty standard (body weight in kilos/ 0.2 kilo)...but too much fast acting insulin due to inaccurate meters is not acceptable...at least in my books.....i use 3 meters they are all close withing 1-1.5mmols/L.....the libre2 is 10 minutes too slow....the verio one touch is out by almost 5mmol...not all meters are created equal....some are wayyyyy out. it pays to do your homework especially what you don't know can hurt you or even kill you.

I tried a Caresense N, an it is NOT accurate. Compared it to my CGM readings and then to an Accucheck Guide Me. The CGM is the Lingo. It reads lower than the meters, but where the Accuchek is consistently 14-20 higher after waiting for the CGM to catch up, the Caresense was giving me 10-30 points higher and back to back also quite variable readings. The CGM graph looks very accurate day to day and meal to meal, just reads too low.

Of course one is that the meter is not very accurate like so many are not. I know the one that Kaiser users is about 18% off and another one I use is 9% off from the A1C. Hopefully one day these will be much more accurate or have other ways of testing.

@SugarMDs Жыл бұрын
@martinbeebe2571 While vitamin C is generally considered safe and beneficial for health, it's true that extremely high doses can potentially lead to adverse effects, including an increased risk of certain health issues. The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for vitamin C varies depending on factors such as age, sex, and life stage.

Hi, newly diagnosed type 2. I was surprised to see that the Onetouch Ultra test strips I have are in the vail so that I have to grab them by the part where the blood goes in. Couldn't that contaminate them? Should I them around?
@SugarMDs2 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing your concern, and welcome to the community. It's definitely important to handle test strips properly to ensure accurate readings. Touching the part of the strip where the blood goes can indeed affect its accuracy due to contamination or residue from your hands. It’s best to handle test strips by the edges or areas indicated as safe for handling. If you find it difficult to avoid touching the active part, consider using clean tweezers to remove them from the vial or practice careful handling. Double-checking with your healthcare provider or the manufacturer's guidelines for proper use could also help clarify any doubts. Wishing you all the best in managing your health!

I owned a Reli On from Walmart I would do a test at the Quest Office just before they drew blood, my test read 111, their test read 91 after waiting on it for 2 days, then again at Quest during the next Blood test, my test read 101 and quest came back at 71, so I bought a Contour Next One, did 2 tests 1 with the Reli On, and one with Contour, Reli On read 123 and the Contour read 100, so the Reli On has been screwed all along. Test strips were not out of date, and have never gotten hot or cold, at least not when Ive had them. I will be doing another Lab test on 6/16/22 and I will take it again, just to see how close this new meter is, I believe its going to be real close.
