Hello (sleep)warriors, greetings from the Netherlands. After a 31 year ciesta, becoming very unhealthy and unhappy i decided this year to turn things arround and become fit. My focus is on weightloss and muscle preservation (and eventually muscle building). You guys have been an insane help and I'm down 37 pounds already (29% bodyfat atm). I'd be very happy to use your 9 month training program achieve my goals. Keep up the podcast, I'm absolutely binging and enjoying your professional and enjoyable content. Cheers!

Deep nasal breathing (preferably with humming during exhaling) has been shown to boost recovery a lot. This is a life hack most people don't know about. The secret to that is (nitric oxide gas production in the bloodstream by nasal breathing) Daily sets of 10-15 minutes will improve recovery by far.

Very surprised that cold therapy didn’t include palmar cooling. Used for three minutes between sets, palmar cooling brings the core temperature and thus the muscle temperature down. Research out of Stanford shows that it allows one to do an increased number of sets. I’ve done it and it absolutely works. At any fitness level, the results are incredible. The studies are even more remarkable. This is a bigger advance than BFR or HIIT. If you haven’t heard of it yet, please do some research into it. It will blow you away. Andrew Huberman is a big advocate. By the way, love the show!

These are all great pieces of advice. I've been trying to maintain strength training and since going through cancer treatment last year I've noticed a drop in my recoverability and have a lower threshold for volume and tend to overeach more often. I've tried alot of these methods but i'm am always looking for ways to boost recovery a bit to allow myself to keep training hard without going backwards.

When I ran track in college, we would run until we couldn't walk. When we started whining too much, we'd be sent to "the whirlpool." A tub of water kept at 50 degrees. We had to sit nipple-deep in it for 12 minutes. Sometimes they'd pour ice into it while we suffered. Pure torture. Haha

I don’t get sore after my workouts, and now I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong. I rotate between a three-day, low-rep, heavy weight week and a four-day, high-rep, moderate weight week; so it ends up being two of each type per month. I do 8, 6, and 4 reps on my heavy weeks, increasing the load by ten pounds each set. I do 16, 12, and 10, and 8 on my high rep weeks, increasing the load by five pounds each set. My workouts are full body workouts, and I train to failure each set. On my recovery days, I do an hour walk in the forest. I supplement with some stuff that I can share if you’re interested in knowing what they are. I’ve typically just tracked my calories, but I’ve been on keto for the last four months, eating 190 grams of protein per day since 190lbs is my goal weight; However, I just got off keto a few days ago because I was having a hard time hitting my daily calorie budget. For more context, I’m a 6ft tall male of 197lbs and 15% body fat. My goal is to be 190lbs at 13% body fat. Thanks, in advance, for any tips or advice!

I just wanna say thanks, you guys are awesome. I've learned quite a bit since I've been listening to you for about 3 months now. I'm in my 30s, have been lifting for almost 10 years and have been plateaued for a couple years now. I've traditional always lifted heavy for 5-7 reps. I've been incorporating a wider variety of rep ranges, 2-3 all the way up to 15 and 20. I would have never done this because I would have thought it wouldn't give me results. Ever since I've been manipulating rep ranges I've gotten both muscle and strength gains. I also stopped training to failure nearly all the time as well. You guys are 100% legit and give some great advice. I've been telling anyone I know interested in fitness to check out Mind Pump podcast. You guys have also helped inspire me to peruse my dream of becoming a personal trainer! Anyways I didn't mean for this to turn into a novel. Thanks for what you guys do and take care!
