Sonic the Hedgehog's outings across various media have been (for the most part) ripe with adventure and fun for everyone... but, sometimes the adventures of the Blue Speedster step into darker territories, and horrors that lie beneath the colorful world of Sonic are set free...
Over the years, Sonic has fought demons from other dimensions, seen horrific dystopian futures come to pass, as well as visited haunted manors & fought cataclysms ready to end reality as we know it... indeed, every kind of terror is a free game.
In this video I rank my Top 10 Scariest/Darkest things in Sonic The Hedgehog across all of official Media (which includes Games, Comic's, Cartoons ect.)
So enjoy this spooky countdown about one of my favorite franchises! Leave comment what you thought of the general list, if I missed anything, or if you have different ranking entirely.

The metal virus arc IS MY number 1 pick for the scariest thing in sonic. Turning into a zombie is bad enough, But zombots can also infect normal zombies too. Also zombot only need any physical touch to infect. The Adredaline Dub made this arc even scarier.

I still think that the Sonic CDs hidden faces are supposed to look like Guy Fawkes masks, that a hacker/pirate would use to preserve anonimity.

Spoilers ahead: Enerjak basically toys with Silver for a while until he starts to use his telekinesis (since nothing else effects him) to reflect his attacks back at him. This infuriates & distracts Enerjak long enough for Jani-Ca (his daughter) to use Sword of Acorns, well established holy relic in Archie Sonic, to drain & transfer his power over to her, which makes her the new Enerjak. Since Enerjak is not a singular person, but a malevolent abstract spirit, Jani-Ca soon starts to hear it's voice trying to drive her mad as well.

I had to double check because I could’ve sworn I had footage of that for the video, but apparently didn’t end up using it, even though I remembered doing so? But yeah, that may be the gloomiest one as far as animation is concerned, but the silly sound everyone makes while drowning kinda neuters it for me.

​@Marionic9001 I honestly like how dark Sonic can get It can actually be unsettling and rather shocking Especially since the evidence you need is simply Sonic 06 It's just the definition of a horror game and I love it The humans are uncanny The villians are fantastic and threatening Eggman even manages to bring fear with his design and it's so fitting lol Mephiles is the kind to fit unsettling and the fact how good he is too since he really is the best villian and the plot and voice too hits so well Iblis is a intimidating and powerful threat And the really good stuff too Like Shadow and Silver having fantastic characters too Or in short the characters work really well still I want something like Sonic 06 This sort of thing I think would've made it the best game of the franchise as well And I want that very return to what Sonic was it works so well for dark stuff and I hope to see the return to where a game like that happens with it's full potential

@@Exeternal_Beyonder_Of_Doomsday Hmm, now that you mention it, Sonic 2006 is kind of the closest thing to an (official) horror game in the franchise. It is pretty dark. I wouldn't call Sonic 2006 good game or even a good story, but tbf, you're right about so many things; the framework of what should've been one of the, if not THE best Sonic game is clearly there... But what happened did, & the direction the franchise has gone towards since then has in my opinion, been largely determined by developer's fear of falling into the same pitfalls people criticized them for in 06, so they avoid many things that would immediately associate new game ect. with it... sad, as there are lot of good elements there, that I would love to see done more justice. Seeing as to how lot of popular media nowadays is bunch of remakes and reboots now anyway, I would think that it would be incredibly funny & ballsy move from Sega to remake Sonic 2006 with today's technology, leave what worked in og intact and really just try and fix the biggest issues with goal to make it the ultimate Sonic game that it was meant to be, just to see how people would react to, I guess you would say "corrected version" of the original. I would love to see some kind of project like that (in official capacity, because sure, there are lot of good fanmade stuff about 06, but I'm interested what Sega would make with someone like Ian Flynn in writing room maybe, like could they even pull it off? That will never happen obviously, but one can dream.

​@@Marionic9001I personally say Sonic 06 is a good game because there is good stuff in it It may have flaws but the story was fantastic still The antagonists are fantastic and the other characters still that prime (Unfortunately I can't say the same for Knuckles or Tails but on another good note these rendations of the characters are not the worse and they are still good in other capacities too) The story was also fun and interesting too It's just really good if you look at those very aspects Yes the bugs and glitches need fixes but what good stuff you can get out of it is how fun and unpredictable they can be

Sonic 06 despite the potential it had lost is still a fun experience And that it is better than alot of more later titles like Forces
