You can also say “directions to X using Google Maps” and Siri will open directly Google Maps (or Waze, or whatever…)

Nice video 👌🏻 besides what’s been said I would add, having relatives fields added before in iOS contacts, allows you to: “call my son, wife, brother, father…” text my sister…” which is pretty useful in my view to avoid confusion when driving

Sadly, none of these commands were "for CarPlay". They are basically Siri Essentials. I was hoping to find Siri Commands that are specifically useful for Car Play, because I find myself still pressing a lot of buttons in Apple Maps. Do such commands exist?

Hi Nick, just got a used a class a200 sport executive but it doesn’t seem to have wireless charging or Apple CarPlay, any ideas why?

Hey Callum it depends on the spec specified at factory when it was built. Both aren’t standard specification. If it’s an A-Class from approx 2018 onwards you may be able to add Apple CarPlay via the Mercedes me Store

Hi all, may you all be well. I switched over to the iPhone and I find it difficult to use the carplay. And I came actoss your video in the UK as I drive a VW but having great issue adjusting to Apple Car Play. Question: 1. is it normal for Siri when in carplay to answer specific questions? ie. (a) You ask it when was the last solar flare, it will respond and say it can't search the web when driving. (b) What time does Tesco close at?, it gives the same response can't search the web when driving. When I was on the Andriod phone I can ask anything and get an answer (to kill the boredom, when on a super long drive to somewhere when you are the only one in the car) Tried the tips found on the web about changing the bluetooth device to something else than vehicle and same result Force restart - same Focus mode adjust - same. But if you ask it simple things like weather, no problem it can still do simple task like text etc.. But anything complex like what time a movie starts etc. nope can't search the web when driving? Is this normal as I searching through the web and so far found nothing to help. Thank you all - have a great day

Hey Tron, it’s an interesting topic when it comes to voice assistants in cars and especially smartphone ones. Quite simply it’s just the difference between Apple & Google. And it all comes down to privacy and the control they want to have over safety in a car and the main thing, what that voice assistant can actually do. Apple for example have extremely strict protocols for apps in the car, and app developers have to follow what rules Apple put in place to make apps (a specific way, only use Siri commands for example). When it comes to voice assistants, as Google is also a search engine they will often have a greater span of results when it comes to voice assistant Ai. When comparing Android to iOS with Apple, I have found that I do like Apple’s ecosystem more as everything tightly integrates with each other but I do wish the voice assistants found on Apple products were more like Google. Maybe they will in the future! I’m sure they’re working on it!

My CarPlay isn't that easy to use, either. I've learned it won't connect unless I plug my iPhone into the car's USB before I turn on the engine. Seems hard to get it to show navigation on my car's screen.

Hi Nick I am new to Mercedes and I am a big fan of your videos which gives me lot of information. My car Apple play is not working. I tried different options. If I go to system and wired car play it shows deactivated. Does it mean currently the car play is not functional or do we need to do something to activate this?

Hey Pius, it’s an option at factory. What Mercedes model do you have and what year?

It depends if it has an option called Smartphone Integration Package. Usually found in HOME, APPS on the car’s screen. You should be able to add and buy it if you don’t have it though, it’ll be found in the Mercedes me store 👍🏼

why does my w206 automatically turn off WiFi sometimes? it takes a long time when I want to turn on it again

Haven’t heard of that happening before, have you spoken with Mercedes about it? I haven’t seen any timer settings for Wi-Fi in there Probably best they take a look and have a technician run some diagnostics or something

Great unless you live in a country which language is not supported so navigation is useless, it cannot understand place names… or person names on phone

Latvia. At least seems like there is no Siri in Latvian, you can tell commands in English but I cannot dictate texts in English to my mom, for example, and it does not understand local place names so most of the time it is useless, for some strange reason though it is better with phone contacts because I think it also takes into account whom I am calling most frequently and I try to pronounce these names more in a way as you would do in English :D@@npoleary

Ah hopefully Apple will do an update to allow more language capabilities with their new iOS. They’ll be a new one next year usually around September time 👍🏼
