People vote for contestants on strictly for many reasons other than their ability to dance well. Most of the people you've named were brilliant dancers from the start and there was no 'journey'. The whole concept of the show is to pair 'non dancers' with professionals and watch the 'non dancers' learn to dance and develop their skills. So in the end the winner is not 'the best', it's 'the most improved' dancer.

I'm honestly glad when a non trained dancer wins over the trained dancer, as long as they still did an amazing job. They say ballroom/Latin style is not the same but if you have trained at any dance style it still gives you too much of an advantage,

My opinions: 10= No. I found Emma Barton quite dull, especially with the Latin dances. She did really nice ballroom dances though. 9= Maisie Smith was robbed. She was consistent and shouldn’t have been in the dance off as much as she was. 8= Faye Tozer and Ashley Roberts were so talented. Ashley shouldn’t have been in the dance off as much as she was. They were guaranteed finalists. 7= Kelly Brook was great. 6= Rachel Stephens was great. 5= Georgia May Foote should have won. She was more consistent than Jay 4= Danny Mac was iconic. He was more consistent than Ore. 3= Alexandra Burke was amazing! I think the BBC's idea behind the couple's choice is that whilst the show-dance is effectively a highlight reel of the best moves and skills the couple have learnt over their time on the show, the couple's choice is instead a chance for them to dance in a style that's atypical to ballroom competitions such as street, contemporary, jazz, disco, country, etc. Whether or not that's how it comes across is another matter. But, I think that's the idea of it. (Still waiting for someone to do Indian/Bollywood for their couple's choice. Any day, now…)

I remember watching at the time and I vaguely remember there was a rumour about Danny previously going to stage school and he’s also starred in musicals (before his time on strictly) And Ore in comparison was a tv presenter who had had no experience whatsoever. despite being AMAZING Danny wasn’t as likeable as Ore imo. Ore was really likeable. Not saying Danny wasn’t but I can’t even remember what Danny was like but I remember Ore being quite sweet and Humble. It just goes to show that at the end of the day it is an entertainment show, and being the best dancer will not always guarantee you a win.

Danny was better overall throughout the show however on the night of the final he made a few mistakes and Ore absolutely smashed it out of the park. I have no idea how but Ore absolutely out danced both Danny and Louise that night and based on that was a worthy winner. I do understand why a lot of people were upset Danny didn't win though.

That year all the black contestants were voted out the first few weeks and then stories came out about how this had happened in other series. I'm sure the BBC wanted to a black man to win. They never release the voting figures. Danny and Oti were amazing and should have won. Before anyone starts going on at me I'm black and yes I did vote many times. I know oti is black but she's the professional dancer, but I'm sure the BBC wanted a black contestant to win - especially due to all the negative press.

As soon as Colin Jackson came out for that silly doll routine, I knew that he had no chance. A real shame as I had expected him to win until that bad choreography. Two failures have also arisen that I put down to ridiculous Afro wigs- Aston, a few years ago and this year Tyler both excellent dancers who were made to look like caricatures, and were hampered by the wigs. Absolute stupid decision by the costume dept. (unless that was deliberate to affect the result).

Yes I cannot believe Erin and Colin did that. We kept expecting them to throw the dolls away and they never did. They handed the trophy to Darren at that moment. Showdance makes or breaks the final. Tom Chambers won it on his amazing showdance Rachel was all set to win. And don't get me started on the stupid Afro wigs they kept using its ridiculous. Its an absolute mockery.

Load of nonsense about Jay. His Jive should have got a 40 and he did deliver on the promise of it with his AT, Rumba, Salsa, Charleston, Paso and Tango. He was consistently undermarked by the judges and was the clear winner throughout most of the series. Funny Craig offered Georgia a role in one of his musicals but it's been Jay who has consistently working in musical theatre since.

I've never forgiven Erin for robbing Colin of that win. I read that Colin hadn't wanted to do it but she had insisted. Whatever was she thinking?! See Matthew Cutler win with Alesha was a joy. He, Darren and Ian Waite were my favourite pro dancers and I voted for them all, at least until I settled on a preferred celebrity, which usually meant I continued to vote for them as long as they were in the competition. Danny Mac had some previous dance experience, which I think is why he lost out to Ore, although there were a lot of complaints afterwards from people who couldn't through on his voting lines because they were too busy - and I'm pretty sure what most people would read into that, me included!

Agree with almost all of those except Georgia, Danny, and Ricky. I do think Georgia was better than Jay in the final but think Kellie Bright deserved the glitter ball that year. Ricky Whittle was also good but I don’t think he had much of a likeable back story to get behind. And Danny was good but he was too frantic in a lot of his dances. He’d have been a worthy winner though. Just don’t think he was “robbed”. Alexandra Burke also a worthy winner but think they shouldn’t have discounted Debbie either

The public vote exists as a money spinner and has no place in the show, other than giving the British public the chance to show they can't handle voting. Too many mediocre dancers stay in well beyond their sell by date and too many good dancers end up in the dance off. Funny how it's usually women of colour isn't it? This year Fleur was the best dancer - the judges knew it, so why not just trust them?

The Heirophant I agree with you 100% everything you have said, i want to preference i am a British white female, and i do think the racism card gets used way to much, all that being said i totally thought that about Fleur, she was easily the best dancer, and in the bottom several times, and she has always seemed a lovely humble person to, and yet some of the judges didn't seem to like her, she didn't click with the public, and i have no idea why, very beautiful in my opinion also! I followed her on X Factor, and she gave one of the best performances of the finals ever done, very talented lady, and lost out to a mediocre singer, a guy who no one has ever heard of since, but i think that is simply because more women/girls vote on that programme unfortunately and the guy was very good looking, she was still very popular! The same thing happened with Alexandra Burke, didn't it, i thought she was amazing on here, and she also did not seemed to be liked, with the judges or the public much, and again a really humble lovely person, so talented, fortunately she did win X Factor, and in my humble opinion the best winner there has been!! I thought she lost out to Debbie Mcgee, not the other person mentioned on here, did i get that wrong then??? As i remember there being a fair bit of controversy about everyone loving Debbie because of her age, and how fantastic she was despite of it, and totally ignoring the fact she was a professionally trained dancer, which pissed me right off, as Alexandra had no previous dancing experience, and worked hard every week, and just got better and better, and was exciting to watch! Anyway like you i can't help thinking is there some racial undertone here, at least with the women???

It's more to do with the journey than the skill. Pretty much every one of these hit the ground running, most with some dance experience, and because they were consistently good, they just fell out of favour with the voting public. The ones who won largely started out as non-dancers and improved as the series progressed, which chimes with us Brits rather more. Even this year, Tasha is a stand-out performer who is consistently good, but I'll guarantee you now that she won't win, because there's others who are definitely looking good and getting better. You really have no idea how the minds of strictly voters work, do you 😂 Goughie, Hollins, Chambers had it won from early on. The stage school women were never going to win it in a million years. And the only contestant who might’ve stopped Alesha winning was Gethin. Would love for Danny and Oti to have won though, but Ore’s final dances were brilliant.
