Try turning 70! I'm still hiking steep mountains, taking relaxing walks in the surf at sunset, still laughing and crying with friends, still dating as much as I want, still learning all kinds of things and trying new things; the list goes on. So much is in your attirude! You are a wonderful guide, Dominique! Shelley from San Diego

Since I've turned 50, I've found myself not letting things bother me as much: so what if I have a blemish or my hair isn't fabulous; so what if other drivers want to go faster than me; who cares if I don't win every argument (I'd rather be happy than right). All this time I chalked it up to being too tired to be so invested but, wait, could it be... MATURITY??

I got engaged to the love of my life at fifty! We will be married April 2021 ( fingers crossed Covid is controlled by then ) . I also went to Paris, Prague, Germany and Belgium in my fiftieth year and started my own skincare line( a passion project ) after deciding to leave a very stressful lifelong fashion career. I Truly believe life started for me at fifty and I am grateful for every day of life now which I may have not been so in touch with before . This was a fantastic video!

After years of realizing he wasn't putting as much attention & affection into us as I was, it become very lonely & my joy was gone. I agree with everything you said. I am hitting another milestone on Dec 31 & I can't wait to see what this next decade holds for me. Turning 70 has no fear for me & I can't wait, my 60's were incredible & full of surprises. I live in a Senior Community & we have friends who are here one day & the next day gone but I feel we are better to have known them & cherished them for the time they were here. We have learned to accept our friends for who they are & vice versa. I really enjoy your videos.....life is like a "box of chocolates" & I eat them when I went to or don't want to. Life is too short. God bless you for being you.

Now that I am over 50, I don't worry about being alone. When I was younger, I overstayed in relationships because I was afraid of being by myself. Every moment was filled with worry about being left. Now I am confident enough to do things by myself and enjoy my solitude. I like other people, but I'm not driven to be with them to avoid lonliness and depression.

Perhaps your most inspiring video yet! Just hit 49 last month and can honestly say I have loved my 40s. I no longer worry about "saying no" to friends, co-worker, projects, invitations, etc. It has taken me a good portion of my adult years to embrace this concept but it is so freeing!! Thanks for another great message, Dominique! Blessings to you and your family.

I am 63 years old. I recently lost my second (and final) brother to suicide. I have learned that almost nothing I used to care about matters anymore. Definitely all the things on your list, but most importantly is to never let anything stand in the way of expressing your love and spending time with your loved ones. No job, housework, previous commitment, etc. is worth it. And worrying about what others think is such a waste of time! Life is finite, live it the best you can!

I cannot imagine what it feels like to lose a loved one to suicide. However, I did lose my only son when he was only 19, so I think I can at least partly understand the depth of your loss. You have learned what I think are the most important lessons from your loss. Bless you, for you will spread the love to those who need it from you. I think that's why we're put on this Earth.

I am now in my 70's and when I turned 50 I had the same feelings you just stated. It would be so great for everyone in their 20's to know the world will not come to an end if their life isn't perfect. We all have challenges in our life. Some are good & some aren't, but in the end they make us who we are. I feel God put us all here for a reason and sometimes it takes a little longer to discover that. God bless and keep you and thanks!!🤠

I think it was divine intervention that I watched your video tonight. The past month I have been so worried and fearful about my house being repaired due to hurricane Harvey. I am 65 and a widow. I did not have flood insurance because I was told if I flooded my whole town would flood, so foolishly did not carry it. I live in Vidor, Texas where 80% of the houses received flood damage. This has been a miserable month for me, but I have finely acknowledged that my fears have made me a very negative person and not helped my situation. I am a strong, determined, educated woman. I will do whatever is necessary to restore my home. I may have to come out of retirement and go back to work, but at least I have my health and therefore have that option. Thank you for your inspiration. I have a great testimony that God has put people in my life when I need them. He put you in my path tonight.

Hi Dominique, it is the 1st time on your KZbin page. I must say how refreshing it is to hear your list of 50 things not to worry about after 50. I am a 50 year old Divorced woman who has spent my whole life being a people pleaser. I am kind, thoughtful, loving generous and honest seldom getting any of that in return. Food played a major part in my life, my parents had a Portuguese restaurant and love food I understand what foods are good for me, yes I treat myself but never abuse food. I am proud to be a Portuguese Woman and as long as I live I will never forget my roots. When I was married I had a similar house rules with my kids. The house rules made me the most hated parent ever. I was always battling with my kids whinging and my Ex Husband under mining me. I have found since getting Divorced 3 years ago that I feel and look the best I have ever felt. I am Me, and do not care if people like me. I don't need acknowledgement as I know I am a good person. I am working on worrying less and trying not to give it too much headspace. Overall I am looking forward to this next chapter in my life. Finding True unconditional love and simply being Happy. Thank you for bringing this to my attention and making me feel much better about my choices. 🇵🇹💚🌺♒🦋❤️

Not getting periods anymore was one of the best things ever to happen to me, I was one of those unfortunate women who suffered horribly from them and had to take two days off from work out of every 26. Great advice, Dominique, but I say with respect that you need to be cautious speaking your mind, like you suggested. You can really damage some relationships that may be important in your life. Relationships come with boundaries and respect, and sometimes holding your tongue when you really want to express your opinion can save a relationship from being damaged. As Joyce Meyer says, where you don't have a responsibility, you don't have to have an opinion. Something to think about. God bless 🙂

That was Brilliant! At 60 years of experience, it is only in the last 10 years that I have discovered how really important my thoughts and feelings are. I am so blessed to have reached an age where so many never had the chance. I have raised a wonderful daughter, who is now very independent and has her own life with its ups and downs as everyone does, but as much as I love her, I know that she will manage quite well with out my help because she is a grown women. I have a wonderful husband, who never is demanding or in any way controlling my life but is there for me if needed. I am me. If you don't like it, well too bad. I am free of caring what others think. My concern is enjoying life to the fullest. As you stated, I try to push away worry and fear, because as my mantra states...this too shall pass! So no reason to add wrinkles and frown lines for something you can not control. Thank you for your Vlog, it really hit home. PS: You are an inspiration!

I'll be 71 on Monday and can truly say that I do love who I am. Sure, I have laugh lines and wrinkles and I've earned every one through my life's experiences, smiles and tears. My face is not a blank canvas, it's the sum total of all my years. My hair is white and I adore it. Feels like a crown of silver glitter to me. I no longer care about what others think of me ... their opinions are none of my business. I try to live my life in such a way that I don't intentionally offend or hurt anyone but if I do, unintentionally, I'm quick to apologize. If I had it all to do over again, I'd do it the same way, the good and the not so good. All of it makes me who I am today. Thank you for posting this. You are so spot on in all 10 of your points. I turned 47 a few months ago and I've been feeling a bit down and anxious about another birthday. You just gave me the encouragement I needed to hear, as I do not have much of a support system in my life right now. So, Thank You for this! Very uplifting and inspiring. You are one wise and intelligent lady, so heartfelt and genuine, beautiful on the inside and out. Thank You so much for thinking of all of us with your encouraging words. 😊♥♥♥

# 10 made me cry. You spoke directly to me. I have lived my entire life trying to please everyone. I have let myself go physically and emotionally trying to figure out who I am. Please just get back in shape. If it will take several months, so be it. I took me 3 months to lose the obesity. And still working to lose more fat. I give myself no excuses. I do it for no one. I am alone with a special child. I am able to look good. It brings me so much reason to smile. It is self-love at its finest.

Loved this! One of the things I stopped when I turned 50 was passing people on two lane roads. Takes too much effort to try and pass someone on hilly, curvy, roller coaster roads if it's only going to save a few minutes. Plus I actually leave earlier to go places. Huge change for me.

Well Dominique; first I love your video's; have been a fan forever. And I'm going to be 72 and I'll tell you, it's the best age! I love my age and for me, it's all about self worth and attitude. Of course your video's are helpful with hair and makeup!

This came at the right time! I have never feared getting older. But there's something about getting close to 40 that changes your perspective on life. You start thinking about things you never thought about in your 20's like menopause and retirement. I just turned 39 and although I'm excited about turning 40, I'm a little nervous about it too. But I am definitely expecting my 40s to be better than I imagine! 😉

Thank you for being such an encourager! Between my 50th & 60th birthdays I did the following: Started a pet apothecary to help pet owners keep their pets healthy naturally, wrote two children's books and started two blogs I'm finishing an ebook to help new puppy owners raise amazing puppies. God has blessed all of these endeavors in an amazing way and we are able to send large sums of money every month to help a school for deaf children in Africa, missionaries around the world, medical missions trips to needy areas, the list goes on, I am humbled at how God has made these years of my life more creative and productive and FUN than all of the last decades combined!

Amen times 10! I am turning 57 in November and so thankful that I finally going to be able to fix my health challenges, loose the weight and be the best I can be and maybe make a difference in someone's life, show that is possible. Forgive myself for staying in this rot for more than 26 years. I'm working on my personal development, studying health and taking the steps to achieve it. I know it won't be perfect with parts missing but it will be close! God is so good! Thanks!

Growing up Greek, we always heard that our grand and great grandparents in Greece celebrated their name days - many old Greeks were not even sure when their birthdays were or how old they were. It didn't matter! I love this thinking and have since I was a kid, so I treat my birthday as a celebration of me. I think the name day thing is such a better idea than worrying about the number. November 13th is always Carol day. I always enjoy your videos. Thank you.

Carol, I can relate to your Greek story, I was lucky in my life to live in Cyprus for 10 years. Greek equals Zoe or real life to me. Each time I am feeling down I turn on the Greek music and dance my soul away. Greek dancing is also a great exercise to keep your body and soul fit. Khronia bolla.

I loved this. Someone once told me when you win an argument, everyone loses. I just turned 50 and this is one thing that I have learned over the years and that nothing good comes out of proving you are right. You have made someone feel bad and then they feel negatively toward you, lose/lose. Best lesson in life I ever learned. Just listen to what they have to say let it go!

Thanks for the encouragement, especially on the worry thing: as the mother of three sons with aspergers (a form of autism) I've had to plan and anticipate what their needs and anxieties will be for so long that it's eating into my own life appraisal You have reminded me to hold on to myself and learn again to 'rest' in myself to be able to listen to that still small voice, that is confident and comfortable and sometimes seeks challenge beyond my comfort zone. You are always a blessing and I thank God for you xx
