Koen Olthuis studied Architecture and Industrial Design at the Delft University of Technology. In his vision today's designers are an essential part of the climate change generation and should start to enhance their perspective on urban components to become dynamic instead of static. Awesome idea ... i have a doubt though. What will happen to the aquatic world? how about the weather influnce created from covering all the water surface from the sun? what have people done with the lands so far??? deforestation, unfavourable land sites ... The creativity s great but whats the consequence??

Use old fishnets they don't degrade in seawater and you can get them for free either from the fisheries or along the shore where they wash up. The mangrove trees you could plant on the island make living and more importantly self-repairing nets with their roots and live off seawater.
