Loved fraiser, maris deserves number one. After so many seasons and so many details, she is so well fleshed out of a character you really feel you know her even though you have never seen her face. And you completely understand as the show progresses why Niles, a psychologist, marries maris because he is completely into his profession and finds people with disorders fascinating. And he hit the jackpot with her disorders, she is beyond a project. I also love that Niles falls for Daphney who is his complete opposite and has a long unrequited love for her for years while still being married to maris. He constantly talks about maris like a devoted (almost to the point of obsessive about her) husband but every time daphney walks by he gets all swoony being near her.

I'm not sure #6 should be included. Yes, his face was never shown during the run of the series. However, as part of the cast's "Thank you" to the audience members - in the studio & at home - who watched the entire 9 seasons of the show, during the final episode - as more of an epilogue, really - they finally DID actually show his face. Also, they had shown the lower half of his face on a few occasions over the length of the series, but always while the upper half was covered. So, even though you only saw the whole thing in one shot at the end, if you were binge watching the thing you could get a sense during the series itself of what the guy looked like.

The whole Maris saga had many great moments about an unseen character. But I really liked the episode when Niles gets the first pet (before Baby, the fussy and unfortunate cockatoo)... The Whippet (I think that's the name of the dog breed). That skinny, bony, nervous little dog that had everyone exclaiming "MARIS", and HOW DOES HE NOT SEE IT? It's just a really funny way to get our imaginations trying to picture her, while not really showing us anything...

I give you 'Er Indoors - Arthur Daley's wife from the British comedy-drama "Minder". "Minder" ran from 1979 to 1994, with George Cole as Arthur Daley - a typical Cockney wide-boy wheeler-dealer with questionable morals and an uneasy realtionship with the forces of law and order. His Minder - an enforcer-type - was initially Terry McCann (played by Dennis Waterman) until 1989, when Ray Daley (Arthur's nephew, played by Gary Webster) took over. Other characters included Dave Harris (landlord of Arthur's favoured watering hole - "The Winchester Club" - played by Glynn Edwards); and DS Albert Chisolm (one of Arthur's arch-nemises, played by Patrick Malahide). 'Er Indoors was often referenced throughout the series (even being the subject of a 1983 Christmas single by the two stars - "What Are We Going To Get For 'Er Indoors?") but was never seen.
@grumpyoldman34585 жыл бұрын
Didn't Dennis Waterman "Write the theme tune, sing the theme tune"?
@kevinrussell27185 жыл бұрын
@@grumpyoldman3458 That's a joke perpetuated by "Little Britain". In fact, whilst he did sing the theme tune, he didn't write it - that was co-written by Gerard Kenny and Patricia Waterman (who was married to Dennis Waterman at the time).

It's not entirely true with the adults in "Peanuts", some specials DID have some adults and one strip published in the fifties showed Lucy and Charlie Brown coming up to the waists of adults while lost at a golf tourney.
