I believe my wife is a "waaay out there" Type 2---to the point where she would never dream of looking up this stuff and consider interactions, etc. of personality types. It took me years of careful observation just to find ONE thing she could do in a "self-indulgent" stress-reducing way. Our current COVID lock-down situations have scuppered most every opportunity that she had 18 months ago to de-stress. :( The research is ongoing.... ;) P.S.: Is it possible to have a number of enneagrams in a very close match?

Can someone please help me figure out if I am a enneagram 2. When listening to all of the 2s core desires and fears and everything I relate a lot to the feeling of wanting to be needed and doing things and hoping in return people will appreciate or do something for me back. When it comes to that I think I am a two but I also feel like I don’t overextended myself to help people. Of course if someone ask for help I’ll do it but I feel like I am not a regally really helpful person. It might be becuase I am only in high school but idk. I also feel like I get into conflicts sometimes. I read somewhere that 2s never say no but I feel like with my family I almost always don’t want to do what they ask like empty the dishwasher or clean my room. I read a few books on all the different types and I don’t really feel like I match any of the other core desires and fears but idk. Anything would help. Also maybe I am a 2w3.

I will summarize the advices in simple sentences: If you got into a relationship with a Two, it means you love them. So, MAKE THAT CLEAR. We often feel that you are taking pity on us and that we are not worthy of you. We rarely will talk about how we feel because we don't want to overwhelm you with our bad feelings and want to be there for you as a reliable shoulder to cry on when needed. If you don't reassure us that you love us, we might think you're taking us for granted. If we show how sad we are, then be there for us, because it is something you are rarely going to see, and we might think you don't care about us if you can't do that for that one moment.

Hi Abbey, I am a very strong Type 2 personality and would like to share the below: 1. Number 1 thing which we expect or need is "Understanding". It means, that when we have helped you cleaning dishes for 7 days one after other, it doesn't mean that we will help you on 8th day. Maybe we are tired or just don't feel to help on the 8th day, but rather read a newspaper. This time, don't force us, or yell at us for not helping, because then, we will get up and work like a robot (heartlessly) or feel to be treated like a robot. Be thankful and grateful, that we helped you for 7 days. Understand that we are not here to serve you always. 2. When we do so much for everyone, and specially family, can the family do something for us? This is not being selfish, but we have a heart of ourselves too, and want to have good cakes, good shirts, good perfumes. Here, when we are taking care of ourselves, don't punish us by taunting or making jokes, don't shout on us and in my words, don't make us stand in a witness box in a court where you are about to sentence a death to us. 3. Don't try to bind us. If we want to help someone, let us help! If you feel that we should not help, its your choice. We can help you too when it is needed. We find happiness in helping others, and we cannot be your way all the time. 4. Type 2 people need freedom. Freedom of thinking, freedom to sleep at any time, freedom to do whatever we want sometimes. We cannot be your way all the time. So, if you try to bind us with love, forcefulness, or responsibilities. We will only go away from them. 5. If you want us to make dishes at home, never complain that we don't do it. This will only make us not do it anytime. Make us feel good and make us remember - 5 years before, you washed dishes and you really did it well. Listening to this, we will get up and get the dishes washed immediately. So, complains don't work for us. Same for blaming us, scolding us, or resentment to us (giving it a shit) or taking us for granted. 6. Physical touch is very important. Hold our hands when saying Thanks to us. Even an eye contact or giving undivided attention to us will do magic. 7. We want importance by being patient with us. We have difficulty in telling what we feel or need and it takes time to come to the center of the circle. We may go round and round sometimes. So, be present till we come to the center. Don't rush or ask us to tell the main thought behind making the story. 8. We are not saying the world to be our way, but at least you can say that my way of showing love is discussing a problem with you, whereas your way of showing love is shaking hands or hugging. This will make us feel that we are loved and important for you and we will feel happy for it. 9. We are very possessive for friends and partners. Tell us often that you still love us and will be there for us even if you have many friends and family members.

@@AbbeyHowe I'd like to add that if we want to help you, don't reject us harshly. It's in our nature to help people. Also, if we care for someone and said someone is in trouble, we would be devastated to know that we were the last ones to find out and or we find it out from other people. We feel a lack of trust, closeness and dependency. All of these are crucial to a 2.

As a 2, I once told a friend that I wrote things down about a previous conflict and ways that I felt hurt so we can process things easier. She rolled her eyes at me, and to this day, we haven't talked. But if she saw my intention, perhaps she would've acted differently. It has been half a year and I still feel the pain from that friendship loss. Type 2's want to feel understood for their motif beneath the things they're doing for others. If they don't feel validated for any of that, they will either force validation as an 8 or validate themselves as a 4. If you want to learn how to love a 2, how about this: Let. Them. Talk. Especially if their love language is Quality Time... and ESPECIALLY if they're an extrovert, which they probably are.

Girl I’m a two and this was SCARY accurate. To be specific, wanting someone to force me into doing things I want to do was like healing balm hahaha this weekend I was so hurt because my husband made an off comment about not wanting to hike long but I’d been waiting to go hiking with him for so long! After watching this video he was like oh no!! He totally got it and apologized for the weekend because he finally understood why I was so hurt. (And I finally understood too! I was like why is this hurting me so bad lol??) pretty much everything else to was crazy accurate for me and opened my eyes so much. OH ALSO - feeling other people’s feelings in a fight. LIKE YES. As I’m getting healthier, I can actually say what I’m feeling in a fight which is so great because before I’d just try to empathize and never share how I was hurting. But most of the time I feel such deep hurts in a fight especially if what I’m saying hurts the other person! Knowing that really really helps. 😊 You are the first enneagram video person to actually accurately capture the two even in a funny way, but not in an annoyingly unhelpful way. I was frustrated with other videos (maybe it’s my pride 😆) just because it was always so shallow. But you CAPTURED IT SO WELL!!! You KNOW your enneagram numbers lol!!! Just wanted to say thank you, I sent this to my husband and my dad (my moms a two) and they both love it. Keep being you girl!! This is so helpful!! Can’t wait for your 8 video to come out because my sisters an 8! And 9, my dads a 9. 🥰😆❤️❤️❤️

We still struggle everyday to figure out how to make each other feel valued and listened to. I feel like his interests and hobbies are given more attention than mine, and I struggle to keep him interested in the things that I am interested in. I'm getting more and more into reading enneagrams to see if it can help our relationship get better.

Five here. Yep, sounds right. I will tell you some things that worked for my 1 husband and I. On vacation, we made sure that we included activities that each of us wanted to do. You have no idea how many steam excursions and railroad museums I have been to. He got to go to art museums and hiking. At home, it was more of a struggle, but he redid the basement do my sewing/art room was right next to his train room. So we were close but still able to do our thing. Also, try to find ways to engage his curiosity about a topic. Fives are naturally curious, and finding an intriguing angle to a hobby may engage him. I survived the railroad museum not because I became interested in the workings of the steam engine, but in the stories of the people involved with them. How railroads changed the landscape, the workers, the heroes and villains, etc. Just remember he will probably never show emotions as much as you. The two of you need to find a balance that you both can handle. Tip: my five son and I have our best conversations in the car, because we aren't staring at each other and one of us is focused on the driving.

I just learned of enneagrams a few months ago, this video is quite accurate. I am an extrovert 2, my main love language is physical touch but words of affirmation are important to me, also acts of service - I noticed one day that I felt really loved when I went to top up the sugar jar and my husband had already filled it up. I have trouble with receiving and asking for what what I need and I know I don't take care of myself like I should, I hardly ever buy anything for myself & I have a huge issue with rejection and not feeling good enough (not hearing back from job applications is a huge trigger for that one, growing up with a narcissistic mother doesn't help either) Last week my daughter asked me why I wanted to work when I already do so much (the wisdom of children) and I said that I need to be needed & involved, to be part of a team doing something & I realized that I really needed to take another look into the enneagram. I also cry at the drop of a hat, feel things deeply, emphasize with others, listen & look to help out where I can. I want to know that my contribution is seen, appreciated and valued.

Another way to show love to a 2 is to help them complete their to-do list. This will make them feel like they are seen and all of the hard work they do is acknowledged. And then they will not have any excuse to take that much needed break! When I come home and my husband has started washing clothes I instantly feel so loved and appreciated because he knows it was on my mind and I needed help but wouldn't ask 🥰.

In high school I was mis-typed as a 9. All the tests I took there after were a tie for 2 or 9. Your videos are the first to break the tie. I believe I’m a 2

Does this count for friends as well? I have several type 2 friends that I'm trying to be intentional with. 😊 I'm a 9 and can relate to 2s a lot, so I can understand and sympathize with them.

I feel like these "How to love a x" videos are basically telling you to act as the other person would. The two is thoughtful, therefore they likewise appreciate thoughtfulness, so thus be thoughtful.

wow. female 8 and male 2...It's only the Grace of God that we stayed together long enough to discover the enneagram. I appreciate this video, but some of those little things don't apply ( no way is he going for a massage or spa day. LOL) However, I heard you and I know where I am missing the mark.

2 here and oof...I felt point #6. Y'all don't know what it means to hear you're lovable without doing anything at all. Like salve to the wound. Another tip-really really try to refrain being critical. 2's work incredibly hard to make their partners happy, so be sure to take extra care when bringing an issue to the table.

I feel SEEN. Is it common to only have one 2 in a friend group? Because I can think of literally only one other person who might be a 2 who I'm very close to but we're not part of the same circle, it's just the two of us who spend a lot of time together and sometimes with my 5 wife. She plays video games and chimes in once in a while while he and I talk about deep emotions 😂

Wow! Abbey this was brilliant. I am a 2 and I love when people remember the small details about what I like e.g. if my husband does the groceries and buys fruits I like that he doesn't like I feel valued. I also NEED cool off time if we disagree.
