Because of the weight class movement, I think the decade lists are more meaningful for the heavyweights than the lower weight classes.

No it has nothing to do with it. Its Rummy´s scoring system that is flawed. It rewards longevity for being a top 10 fighter but doesn´t actually reward the very best and its also the timing of it too. Like if you start being dominant at the mid point of a decade you likely wont end up being listed as a dominant fighter. Case in point, Floyd Mayweather. Moreover, if you are the champ, you should get alot more points than just 1 more than the next best.

Love the series. Second time watching it. Making these lists is so hard to do. I have put a few templates together to see who was the best and in our sport it’s very hard. Not like baseball or basketball where all go against each other. I definitely don’t agree with the order of the placements but I enjoy seeing the results and appreciate the hard work that went into putting them together. For the list of the most dominant welterweight decades (10:00), Manny Pacquiao is the only active boxer. For 2018, Manny's ranking was at 5. Thus the additional score of 6 is added to 61 to make 67. His rank would be 2nd , tied with Antonio Margarito. We overtook Antonio Margarito after 2019. The additional score of 8 for 2019 would make him tie Sugar Ray Robinson with the score of 75, at rank 1. Wow.

i think by each decade, you could have a scoring system showing fighters who had the most amount of 10s and then as a tiebreaker work your way down south to the most amount of 1s. could be more of a genuine scoring system. i dunno. just a suggestion. love the videos. big fan

The TOP ten 2010s Welterweight list in 8:59 has Manny Pacquiao comfortably ranked number 1. At the end of 2019, will still be ranked number 1 with 75 points. He has a good case to be considered Fighter of the Decade for 2010s. Wow.

I think this is a good start to ranking the best welterweights. That said, head to head matchups, victory against top 10 ranked opponents, and overall record should also be considered.

I think after you're finished you should do a pound for pound list that totals the scoring of all the guys who finished with top 10 finishes for all their different weight classes. Example being adding up Roy Jones' 160, 168, and 175 scores for one total composite score.

I knew Starling would do well in this list! Fought his whole career at welterweight, and stayed in the top ten for a long time using that high guard defense combined with crisp accurate counterpunching! Made Connecticut proud and kept us on the pro boxing map.

Why didn't they have a ranking for Floyd in 2015? He beat Pacquiao and Berto that year which would have undoubtedly made him the number one welterweight considering he already had the wba and wbc welterweight titles. And likely made him the best welter of THIS decade.

Johnwoo these are “end of year” rankings. Mayweather made it clear that he wasn’t fighting after the Berto fight, so I think Ring Magazine took him off the WW top 10 list. Had it been a “which WW had the best 2015,” Mayweather would have won.

I'll answer that question... It's because people try and take away from the fact that Floyd Mayweather is the most skilled boxer of all time and he's better than everybody's favorite boxer. He has a perfect record, beat more world champions than any other fighter, holds all the ppv records, andmade the most money. People hate on him more than any athlete ever!

I also saw pacquiao's name in 2000's. You give him 7 and 10 points in 2008 and 2009. That means he should be quialified in 2 decades. 61+17 = 78. That means he should rank 2nd next to Napoles. 🤔🤔

Ay! Correctly predicted the top 4 (in the wrong order), though I was nowhere near guessing that Margarito was going to do so well. As for 140, it's hard to say. Hardly anyone had a long (in years) run of success. I'm guessing the top 2 will be Antonio Cervantes and Julio Cesar Chavez but beyond that I've no idea.

Why was Duran ranked only six the year he beat Palomino, he was awesome in that fight, who was third and fourth that year? Love to have seen Robi fight Floyd in his prime at welter then again at light middle and then at middle while he was in his era and prime, interesting, I would also have like to see Robi v Basilio at welter for the same reason.

I love your boxing knowledge, and your fight analysis is terrific, but I think this video demonstrates the major flaws with your rating system. It seems to favor longevity in one division over multitalented fighters that campaign in more than one division, and it favors mediocre to average fighters who just happened to fight a long time in one division

This shows how the ranking system can be flawed. Kell Brook? The 2nd greatest Welterweight of 2010's? How is he gonna be considered that when his ONLY win against an A level opponent was Shawn Porter? I get how he is based on this system (and in all candor, I love this series) but is shows that a fighter can beat a bunch of nobodies, have a promoter who will pay to get him in big fights, win a title, hold the belt hostage, then quit in back-to-back fights can be even considered. So, with that we go by the eye test: 1. Mayweather 2. Pac 3. Bradley 4. Thurman 5. Spence 6. Brook 7. Porter 8. Khan 9. Marquez 10. Ghost

I don’t like these rating systems... a real fighter fights the best...what’s important is the # of title fights, title defenses... who’s unified, undisputed? Length of the title reign. Who did they fight who’s in the hall of fame or considered a legend of the sport. Sometimes boxing records are smoke and mirrors. You could be a 3 division champ and never defend that title. That means 3 division champ in 3 fights. Looks good on paper. Paper champion... your only a champion when you defend it. Did you win a vacated title or you beat a champion.
