Love this channel. Interesting to think how Ali would have ranked without losing those 3 years, same as Robinson. Wasn't expecting Hopkins to win but makes sense with the points adding up. Really interesting experiment Rummy did here, I'd be interested in hearing his own personal top 10 or 20 even and what he biased it on.

Larry Holmes is SO underrated by the boxing community it’s criminal. It’s good to see Chavez get his props tho. I always thought that due to his immense popularity in Mexico, many more casual American fans would try to dismiss his achievements.

JohnDaWhale3 I wasn’t surprised Rocky wasn’t on this list because his career was short but I was surprised Ricardo wasn’t on the list because he was a champion for about a decade I believe.

JohnDaWhale3 Now that I remember at 1:06 Rummy says that this Ring Rankings data is incomplete for the weight classes that weren’t 1 of the original 8 especially the ones below flyweight because there isn’t a original weight class below them. So once that data is complete I believe Ricardo Lopez will come up high on this list.

Phenomenal work Rummy. This ranking might have its flaws, it highly values longevity and doesn't take the opposition into account, but I think it's a great, objective way to do it. It also revealed quite a few surprises and opened my eyes on certain boxers, I appreciate to see some less known guys sneaking in. The Ring is not perfect but I think it remains the most legitimate source and I can only imagine the amount of work you put in to come up with all those rankings and I strongly appreciate the effort. I'm certainly going to use those when making my own rankings. Thanks Rummy, keep up the great content.

Well didn't see that coming. I was waiting for Sugar Ray Robinson and Ali as one and two. Hopkins has kinda flown completely under my radar. Obviously I knew of him as a long time champion but to win, and by such a margin.....wow. Can't fault the methodology - although, as stated, this heavily favours longevity and it also helps to have fought in multiple weight brackets - as such it does tend to score against the heavyweights who have nowhere else to go. Seriously excellent work though - well done!!

This is a great and very useful list, no matter how much if chaps boxing enthusiasts' subjective love for Robinson, or Marciano, Ali, or whomever. My only wish is that we could assign point values to more ambient/arbitrary factors like ratio of length of career over point totals, multi-weight-class appearances, sustained dominance over time, win:loss ratios, etc. etc. It could even get deeper and mine the CompuBox archives for points in categories like thrown vs. landed (for boxers active during its existence), and also incorporate other reputable boxing publications/ranking systems in assigning points for athletes for whom Ring's ranking system inherently overlooked. That said, nothing spans the history of boxing so consistently as Ring's archives, and it is really the most comprehensive history of the sport we have at our disposal. Excellent video, my friend. I enjoy your content very much. Keep up the amazingly diligent work.
