Maybe those other people were just playing along with Howard’s delusion because of the fact that he’s an engineer and could reprogram their car’s brakes to fail at an inopportune moment or something easily done by an engineer. edit: or set a Rube Goldberg machine that would kill them like in the movie Final Destination (2000)

I mean, the "Penny is a spy" theory actually makes a lot of sense when you see how she lived on a Cheesecake Factory salary. That extra money has to be coming from somewhere. It would also explain why she was the only member of the cast WITHOUT a last name, until she married Leonard Hoffstetter.

I think what they're saying, especially given the Psycho reference, is that Mrs. Wolowitz died sometime before the show started or before the others even met Howard and he's been impersonating her ever since. She was there, obviously, for his birth and probably part of his life, but maybe not now. The only problem I have with this, aside from saying everyone who ever met her is pretending for Howard's sake, is when she actually died in the show, Howard's aunt called him while he was with everyone else and told him.

Theory: The Big Bang Theory is based on a comic book written by David Healy that took inspiration and elements from his real life. Three characters are obvious clues to this. Leonard is an idealized version of David himself, Leslie Winkle is all the worst parts of Darlene Conner, and Mary Cooper is loosely based on Jackie Harris. Other characters and character traits from David’s real life also sneak into the comic. Penny is an idealized version of Becky Conner. Leonard and Penny getting together is a reference to Roseanne pairing them up in her book instead of him being with Darlene/Leslie. In real life David’s mother was physically and emotionally abusive to him, in the comic/show Leonard’s mom is also abusive but in the completely opposite way by being emotionally and physically distant. Sheldon is the polar opposite of his brother Mark in every way possible but serves a similar role in David/Leonard’s life. Leonard’s deep love and respect for Sheldon and constant irritation and anger with him at the same time reflect David’s complicated feelings for his brother. Sheldon’s constant presence in Leonard’s life and almost stubborn refusal for the two to separate or have any distance between them is how David deals with his brother’s passing, it’s wish fulfillment that his brother never left. Last but not least, Debbie Wolowitz’s size and screaming at people all the way across the house are of course based on David’s late mother-in-law Roseanne Conner. The gangs response to Debbie’s death is an expression of the family’s reaction to Roseanne’s sudden death.

While a lot of people on the spectrum don't like the autistic representation of Sheldon, it's really offensive and dehumanizing to call an autistic person a 'robot' or an 'alien'. Just because we think and act differently doesn't mean we aren't human. It's those kinds of things, and bad representation like Sheldon, that make it seem okay to pick on and laugh at us.

1. The title of the show is just a dumb pun, as in "This geeky physicist wants to bang his hot neighbor, lol." I don't think there was much more thought put into it. 2. Um, wouldn't it make more sense if Howard was Barney in another dimension? They're both (at least wannabe) manipulative womanizers whose fathers abandoned them; Howard is just much geekier and lacks Barney's charisma. 3. The only issue I have with the insane asylum theory is that lobotomies started to become discontinued in the '50s, and the earliest the event in question would've happened would've been the '80s depending on Sheldon's age. 4. In which episode did they reference Psycho? I must've missed that one!

Chuck Lorrie and the rest of the producers along with the writers of TBBT should have not ended the show without having Leonard and Penny going through a divorce. Especially sinceit was pretty clear that as the show got into the later seasons that Leonard cared more for Penny than Penny cared for Leonard. And, the show also should not have ended without Raj getting married too. The show should have reunited Raj and Emily and the series should have ended with their wedding after Sheldon and Amy received their Nobel Prize. And, having the reveal of Penny being pregnant in the series finale really was a bad move indeed. Hopefully in the near future there is a TBBT reunion special where all the important loose ends involving the main cast members get tied up.

Switched off after Howard's mum not been real...you actually see her in one of the early episodes. Not her face, sure, but you see her moving around the kitchen when Raj is there. Not a fan theory at all....sounds more like a "How can we fill this list?" thing.
