Elliot Katz Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask are both part of the Child Timeline, so again, Twilight Link can't be the ancestor of a dead child Link, can he? The Link from Majora's Mask is clearly alive because he had to grow up to have children and become the very adult-looking Hero's Shade.

And during the original Zelda there are two living Zeldas right? Meaning they can't be reincarnations. Dominic Miller I know Link didn't die in MM as TP Link is his descendant but we can't know for sure if they are all descended in the child timeline unless it was mentioned in FSA and I don't think it was. My point was that it is not a fact that they are all reincarnations of one another and I in fact think that it is impossible for that to be true. Side note: Link didn't die in the AT he just stopped existing. He failed in the decline timeline.

That one about the timeline being wrong is really dumb, because a multiverse doesn't disprove the timeline that's already established. All it did was say that there's MORE connections that can be created, but the devs decided to focus on the most important ones that mattered since they have games surrounding those times. ....come on son! who was the first person to think up that theory I want to laugh at them.

Link cannot be dead in Majora's Mask for multiple reasons. First, the stages aren't the stages of death, but the five stages of grief; as in grieving for the loss of Navi. Secondly, Link is very young in Majora's Mask, so it's unlikely that he had children beforehand; however, the Hero of Twilight is a direct descendant of the Hero of Time. Thirdly, Link is shown in the lost woods riding away on Epona at the end of Majora's Mask; proving that he safely returned to Hyrule.

The timeline isn't necessarily wrong, it's just not a timeline. It's like calling a bike a car. Yeah it's got wheels, you use it for transportation, but it's not a car. The timeline is only a timeline up until the point where Ocarina happens. Even the timeline split can be called part of a timeline because of the whole time travel thing. The part that ISN'T a timeline is that Link dies and survives at the same time. One can happen or the other, not both. That's why it delves into the whole multiverse thing. Either that or the timeline was already split even before Ocarina of Time and we just don't have the game where it happened.

I heard a different version of the Navi is dead theory, that I personally find easier to believe. In the fight with Ganondorf, Navi is repelled by his dark magic. But in the Ganon fight, she powers through and helps you out again. But there's no reason Ganon wouldn't still try to repel her, and Ganon is far more powerful than Ganondorf. The version I heard says that this dark magic mortally injured her, and... you know the rest

I think the only Ganon that isn't the same as the OoT Ganon is FSA. The others were either revived or released from their prison. FSA is the only one that explicitly states that it is a different Ganon/Ganondorf. Twilight Princess, ALttP, and Wind Waker are definitely the same Ganon from OoT.

The Zelda series has multiple creators. Hyrule Historia was written by only two of its creators. One of them, Shigeru Miyamoto, is infamous for not caring about story. Thus any thing he says about the timeline can safely be ignored. The creator who cares the most about story is Yoshiaki Koizumi. He was not involved in the creation of Hyrule Historia. Any timeline he created would certainly be better then the one shown in Hyrule Histora.

the biggest issue I see with the theory about the timeline being wrong is simply that the existence of possible infinite universes does not prove that the three depicted are wrong. It's simply that the current games only exist in those three timelines or before the moment those timelines were created..

The "multiple Ganon theory" isn't even a theory, as I was led to believe. In ocarina of time, it's said that a male gerudo is born every few centuries. That person, as I interpreted, was the reincarnation of ganondorf being reborn with link and Zelda (or whatever other form of hillia). This was just my interpretation, but I thought that it was the canon. If this is not the said canon, I would love constructive criticism because I would live to learn more about the Zelda timeline. Not every male Gerudo becomes Ganon, they just become the ruler. Also, (though you obviously couldn’t have known this at the time) BotW 2 proves that, since Ganondorf was always alive underground, the birth of Link and Zelda don’t fully coincide with the birth of Ganondorf, only with the coming of some sort of threat. (After all, Ganondorf is not present in the GBA and DS games, yet Link and Zelda are still born)

They both can't be right, if Link doesn't grow up to have a child. I personally love this theory as it is compelling, but perhaps the only way this could be true AND the #10 could be true at the same time is if Link somehow went through "acceptance"... But the opposite happened and he somehow lived. But whenever someone accepts their fate, it never turns out positively for them without outside help... And we see Link alone in the ending. These theories clash too hard. 7. X [Legend of Zelda "Timeline" is wrong.] Not really. Like I mentioned in #10, they only show theories against the final timeline where Link dies... But it states that if Link dies ANYWHERE (Present of Future timeline) then the outcome is the exact same regardless of where he dies or when he dies... Ganon still rules with an iron fist, should Link die as a kid or die in the final battle against Ganon's transformed state while Ganon has one 1 hit left. So long as Ganon live and Link dies, the timeline is ruled in the same way. 6. ✓ [Majora's Mask is originally made by the Twili.] Possibly the direct link, since no other ancient group is really spoken about. 5. ✓ [Dragon Roost Island is Death Mountain.] I always thought they were the same place after knowing it was just a future world. No qualms with that. 4. X [Every Zelda Game... A dream?] I wouldn't call them a dream, because they wouldn't be reincarnations if that was the case. I mean, if you would like, the creators of the Legend of Zelda COULD make us live day to day lives for 3-4 years of in-game time... Now it actually makes much more sense for her to just fly off without a word after building up friendship with Link through that adventure. 1. X [The creators of Hyrule are the Ooccoo.] Kinda mentioned the story of everything in Ocarina of Time with the three goddesses (Farore, Naryu and Din). It's specifically said that they were the creators of Hyrule, so... I can't really buy that. Granted there are ancient artifacts that the Ooccoo have made or needed to retrieve, I wouldn't call them or equate an ancient race to being the creators of Hyrule - not when we have been given the backstory both in the game of Ocarina of Time and other sources. Ooccoo can use a limited ability that resembles Farore's Wins, sure... But what about Din's Fire and Naryu's Love? Nothing they do seem to match the other goddesses' powers. So I doubt that the goddesses are Ooccoo and the Ooccoo are the goddesses that created Hyrule and then left the Triforce in their wake.

I think Ganon is a weird Dracula like vampire. Zelda 2 is the game that put this into my head. Ganon is dead in Zelda 2. The bad guys want to spread Link's blood onto Ganon's ashes to bring him back to life. When you die in Zelda 2, Ganon comes to life and laughs at you. It sort of feels like a weird Castlevania plot.

Ok but hear me out on this.. navi is the spirit of Link's mother. It's just a theory, but it could explain how caring she is about him and how much she nags about dangers and reminders - just like a mom would. And it would make sense since she died in the kokiri forest where she left Link with the Great Deku Tree. Maybe he saw how strong the bond was between the two and he turned her into a fairy that's destined to guide, support and protect Link. She might leave because she completed her task of keeping him safe, thus fulfilling her last wish, or because her fairy form indeed was dying. Just a thought.

The "Link is Dead in MM" theory has been disproven. There are two major things that point to this: Link learned the Song of Storms in Termina and played it at the Windmill Hut to start the cycle of OoT Link learning it, and Termina is also said to be a real parallel world in the Hyrule Historia. I've heard another variation of the Navi theory. This is one is that fairies have a purpose, once that is fulfilled they leave and essentially... die. The fairies in the springs purpose is to aid travelers, and Navi's purpose is to help Link fulfill his quest. As such when Link's quest was complete, she died.

A theory I like but don't see brought up often is that Demise is from Lorule. We learn that Lorule's Triforce was destroyed long ago because everyone was fighting over control of it, so it could be possible that Demise learned of Hyrule and invaded that dimension, explaining why he just kinda showed up (I don't quite remember the specifics of his appearance) and why his goal was the get the Triforce. What's also kinda cool is that Demise's sword is clearly a dark version of the Master Sword, with a similar design, but it also has an upside down Triforce on it, the orientation of Lorule's Triforce. This could also explain the similarities between Fi and Ghirahim, both being living swords, and serving their masters in the like. One last thing is that Lorule doesn't really seem to have a counterpart to Ganon or Ganondorf, which could be because Demise was SS Link's counterpart, and he went to Hyrule, leading to the creation of Ganondorf, and possibly the Gerudo by extension.

The three timelines are all based on time travel. Defeated is the one where link doesn't use it to become young again. Time travel is a sticky widget in multiverse, however there has to be a timeline where link fought Ganon without the sand Sage. (Not getting young.) my theory of the Ooccoo is that after SS, a small group of humans, including Groose, decided to return to the sky, so they created a wind temple, then built their city in the sky, becoming the sky people from MC, in FS, Vaati's taken over the sky people's domain, cursing them, and sending them to the ground, and over time they became the Geurudo, while a small portion stayed in the sky, relying on mechanical propellers to help support, their city, over time the small group became more bird-like, eventually becoming the Ooccoo.

A thought that occured to me regarding "Navi is dying". Throughout the whole game, she tells you to hurry up, not lollygag too much and generally try to rush you towards the completion of your destiny. Perhaps this is not only because she wants to "save the world", but also because she wants to see that you finish saving that world before she is completely drained of her life or something. It's not fully fleshed out, but it's something to think about :P

With the 'hero is defeated' time line so few people realize that playing though the game DOES split the time line three ways. When you learn the song of storms and go back to play it and change the future, you've permanently left a time line where that never happened. Hence: 'The hero is defeated' thats the hero is defeated time line. Ganon is still in power in a world where the hero unknowingly erased himself.

With regards to the "The Timeline is Wrong" theory: The third branch isn't "Link Dies"; it's "The Hero is Defeated", which makes a world of difference. And why was he defeated? He didn't have the Eye of Truth, or a way to enter the Spirit Temple, so he had to go back in time. In other words, it's the "Abandoned" timeline, where Link is forced to give up and retrace his steps.

Yes, certain Ganons have been freed or resurrected, but that doesn't mean there aren't other Ganons. I kind of agreed with the three Ganon theory. It is sort of like the video game version of the three Joker theory but with Ganon. In the original game, Ganon is shown for his never ending hunger for conquest and then is defeated by the Hero of Time: Link. Demise was the responsible for each Ganon, meaning he passed his curse onto the first one who seemed to already achieved the form of hatred, The Ocarina Of Time Ganondorf in where he takes the Triforce of Power to achieve his form and fulfill his thirst for conquest, and then the Wind Waker Ganondorf, who has the same ideals but doesn't activate the Triforce of Power. All these Ganons exist in different timelines but also existed in the same universe. They were all born with the same origin due to Demise.

The multiple Ganon theory is confirmed canon in Hyrule Hystoria and in multiple games. Basically all Ganondorfs are the same person. The only depictions of Ganon that aren't Ganondorf reborn are his Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and Link to the Past forms. His appearance in the Oracle games, Original Legend of Zelda, and Link Between Worlds are three separate incarnations.

If child timeline link fell into the 'alternate termina dimension', then that would tie into him and malon getting together. Since he saw the alternate malon in so much pain and distress, it reminded him of her treatment under the assistant once he got control in the dark future, so he came back to the dimension and stayed close to, and eventually married malon.
