Honestly thrilled to hear some love for Protest The Hero. I have seen them live three times. First was the Kezia anniversary tour. Second was the Fortress anniversary tour (I have never seen a more passionate crowd.) And the last was their most recent album tour. I got some once in a lifetime footage of them playing Mist in Toronto. Seriously, I cannot recommend them enough. Start with the song Bloodmeat and go from there.

Awesome selection of bands. Never listened anything by Protest The Hero, but after this video I'll check them out. I would also add Mastodon, Tool and Opeth, I absolutely love every album by the three of them.

Here are mine: 1. Deftones, my all time favorite band. Every album is at the very least worth listening to, even Gore has more great songs than bad ones. 2. Bolt Thrower, super consistent and ended on a high note at the peak of their careers. 3. The Dillinger Escape Plan, every album is near perfection and I can’t even choose a favorite or a least favorite. 4. Dying Fetus, especially after last Friday. 5. Emperor, the most consistent 90s black metal band with a solid streak of five excellent albums. 6. Rammstein, I know that’s a controversial take but they don’t really have an album that I never revisit and Rosenrot is just boring at worst. 7. System of a Down, they only had five albums but all of them range from good to fantastic. 8. Dark Tranquility, a great example of a band changing and evolving while still staying true to themselves and delivering consistent quality. 9. Enslaved, every album is breathtaking and has something unique about it that makes their discography really fun to go through. 10. Agalloch, probably the best folk metal band.

A couple of bands for me which always come to mind: Type O Negative (Relatively short with 6 or 7 albums, but everyone of the releases has its own identity). Moonspell (From gothic tinged Black Metal to downright Goth/Alternative back to a mix of Doom, Black and Symphonic Metal up until downright Progressive, they never let me down and provided me with one of my best concert experiences. Napalm Death - Although Diatribes scratches mid territory it still has some great songs. The releases of the past 24 years or so cemented my love for this band even more. They're so much more than their obvious legendary Grind and Death Metal beginnings. Lunar Aurora & Nocte Obducta: Two of Germany's finest black metal bands which aren't named Nagelfar, the first one very rarely straying from their sound, but always a great mix of second wave BM and atmospheric stuff. Nocte Obducta ranges from 2nd wave inspired ruthless BM, progressive albums later on and their own brand of atmospheric BM with Doom and Death Metal elements. Nektar Part 1 + 2 are as good as everything that came out of the 2nd wave.

Death certainly has no bad albums. Vader is pretty consistent. Panopticon is always good. Opeth changed their sound, but they sound great whatever they're doing. Deceased is criminally underrated, and all of their proper studio albums are very good.

I've been saying for years that Enslaved is the active band with the most impressive a flawless discog in metal, now I know I'm not alone! 🤘🏻 Nice choices of bands, I would also add Opeth to the list, In Mourning also has a flawless discog for a prog melodeath band, and the most obvius one, Death. For death metal, The Chasm has consistently made amazing and underrated music since 1994, I believe. Other bands with flawless discographies are Hate Forest, Portal, Agalloch, Nagelfar, Intestine Baalism, Paysage d’Hiver, and Maudlin of The Well, just to name a few.

I am impressed with the variety of styles or genres you apparently listen to and enjoy. I basically have 2, Death & thrash, and beyond that Meshuggah is the only other band and style I actually listen to other than just listening to a small section of a song that is impressive for some reason. Most of my favorite bands were at their beginnings in the 80s and early 90s when I was 20-something so I have a problem listening with an open mind any band that was not around then. Protest the hero are DEFINITELY an incredible band! It's consistently getting better and better and even their debuted album...is incredible! I love Kezia, such an amazing album, but my fav will always be Volition! Now, here's all in my opinion, but Trivium are also a perfect band for me. They have all fantastic albums and a lot of different music to chew on. They have pure 00s metalcore with Ascendancy/Ember, some more trashy and technical stuff on The Crusade and Shogun, defining 10s metalcore stuff with In Waves, some more mainstream friendly music on Vengeance falls, some melodic stuff on Silence and even sone parts of Sin, and even their last two albums are... arguably my top album by them! It's ine of those very few bands where I absolutely love all albums. I'm kinda the same with A7x, but I have problems with HTTK, also with ATR, but I don't like silence between solitude and madness.

We have completely different taste because there are certain aspects of the music portrayed in this video (or a lack thereof) that would prevent them from holding my interest for too long. When we had a metal show on Irish radio in the 1990s, I used to listen in to its 8-10pm time slot religiously every Sunday night. The Deftones, for example, were played regularly on it but they just did not appeal to me enough to want to explore their music, let alone buy an album from them.

I missed the community post for this, but I gotta nominate 36 Crazyfists. Their status as a metal band is kinda 50-50. The earliest parts of their discography are pure 90s grunge (Bossbuckle EP), then they turned into an alt-metal band with metalcore leanings (In the Skin to A Snowcapped Romance) before becoming a metalcore band through-and-through (Rest Inside the Flames and after). That all being said, everything they've ever released borders on good to excellent and I can't put into words how much I love them.

Absolutely correct with Enslaved. With DT I'm in a minority, I guess because I do not like the 2000s trilogy. I'm more into their 90s and 2010 to present stuff. Love Deftones too. Gore is my least favourite but agree it's far from bad. Agreed with what was said about Carcass. Took me a little while to appreciate Swansong but it's not rubbish. Agreed with The Black Dahlia Murder. Ritual and Night are probably my favourite two. Abysmal is named their worst?! Didn't know! That's one of my favourites! Protest the Hero are a terrible band. Those clips upset my ears. I only know Converge because if Chelsea Wolfe. Loved that album. Will listen to their other stuff. Not heard Everytime I Die but the clips sounded cool. Correct with Between the Buried and Me! My list would consist of Death, Enslaved, Ihsahn (including his many other albums outside of his solo projects), Shining (Swe), At the Gates and Between the Buried and Me, just to name a few.

I sincerely applaud DEP on here.....may be a bit biased as a fan since C.I. however they were the first ones to come to mind here.....personally feel that ire works and option paralysis were not quite as up to snuff as "miss machine" or especially "one of us is the killer" but by no means bad albums. How dare you talk shit about projector haha (its all good we are both huge DT fans). Meshuggah is great but Koloss? Even they complained about the album mix being way too loud and compressed. Glad you bring out Deftones cause there seems to be a huge divide between Gore and Ohms, but I'd personally take the former any day of the week. Wont even say anything about Black Dahlia other that RIP Trevor... That wound's still open. Great stuff dude! Keep it coming!
