Nothing but bangers on here! There are plenty of other great 90s thrash albums. Even with bands mentioned on this list such as Coroner (Mental Vortex) and Sadus (A Vision of Misery). And as much as I fucking worship Tortured Existence, I think Epidemic of Violence is even better. Morbid Saint also recorded Destruction System in 1992, but it wasn't released (at least commercially) until 2015, so I'm not sure it would qualify here. Time Doed Not Heal by Dark Angel isn't their best, but it sure as hell is good enough to deserve to be mentioned here. I also enjoyed Razor's Open Hostility and Decibels considerably (the former a lot more) so they should not be overlooked either. Sacrifice released a couple of albums in the 90s, Soldiers of Misfortune in '90 and Apocalypse Inside in '93 which are both absolute must-haves in any respectable thrash metal collection. Atrophy - Violent By Nature is great too. Forbidden - Twisted Into Form. Since Protector got the pass I also want to mention Solstice's self titled (in particular) and Pray, as well as Ripping Corpse's Dreaming With the Dead. I'm sure some, if not all have been mentioned elsewhere in the comments (in retrospect I maybe should have checked 😂), but I hope at least one person discovers something worth their while.

The early and late 90's were a great time for thrash. It's the middle years (1993-1997) that sucked hard, with a few exceptions like Testament who were just unlucky. And even then other genres like Death and Black were blossoming during the 90s.

All the albums mentioned are very important for me, in being able to get into the most aggressive Thrash Metal, which is the one I like the most since that time of 1990-1994. I have no problem with musical experiments and fusions. It is understood that there are albums that suck, but if the bands don't adapt to the moment they die, or the labels throw them away, and none of those situations are of any use to anyone. * Also from Brazil worth listening to sometime bands like MX (Mental Slavery from 1990), Mutilator only two albums, Chakal (The Man Is His Own Jackal from 1990) and Sextrash (Sexual Carnage from 1990).

Other than many of the mentioned picks I´ld add Excursion Demise (1991) by Invocator. The follow up is also good but has more of a Pantera / Machine Head Vibe, whereas Excursion Demise sounds like if you pair the progressiveness of And Justice for all with the brutality of Slayer. Dark Angel Time does not heal has almost 300 riffs, Death Angel Act III is also great after the weirdness that was their second album. BUT: Out of all the classic Thrash bands with at least 9 albums or so they have the allround most solid discography. I die on that hill. Maybe it helped that they went away for almost 13 years...

At least in the early 90's there were still many thrash bands still going strong. However even the classic thrash bands would get consistently worse, like Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament, and even Slayer, Kreator and Exodus putting out some subpar not-really-thrash-at-all-anymore bullshit at that time. The real meltdown happened in the 2000's with the introduction of Metalcore, NU Metal and all that fucking garbage. Except for a few of the old schoolers still keeping the flame alive, there were very few good fresh thrash being released at that abysmal era for metal in the 2000's. The resurgence was already starting though, with bands like Shadows Fall, Lamb of God, Slipknot, and even System of a Down injecting the good old thrash spirit into their music... I would say it is largely thanks to these bands that thrash finally resurfaced, with bands like Evile and Municipal Waste saying "Fuck it!" and going full-throttle.

The Gathering is awesome🤟. Not sure if it’s my favorite from them, but I can see why some would choose it as their favorite. I’m just more biased towards The New Order.

Do you have any favorite punk bands? Or even crossover?
