I’m 22 so I think I don’t meet the usual demographic for wearing things like Royal Oud but it is such a nice fragrance. One of my favorites from Creed. I also love Mefisto Gentiluomo. I agree with you on its softness. To me the similarities between it and silver mountain water are very very slight. Mefisto Gentiluomo is softer and more “aquatic” and clean smelling. Silver Mountain Water is a little sharper and more abrasive. Thanks for your videos as always! I’m going to have to try a few of these :)

It's funny you say that there is some ashiness in Royal Oud because I get an ashtray vibe from it. I don't know, I am trying to like this fragrance. Bought an 8 ml sample, and I got rid of it. Definitely going to give it another try. 😁🙏

I miss the notes of rose and neroli. Fougeres are more masculine, but probably less classy, imo. I agree all of your words about Francis K. He has no diatribes, but all of the MFK creation is pure elegance. Though I prefer Lumiere Noire over your choice.

There are different levels of audience that watch fragrance videos, one level is more mainstream that only want to know what works for a particular situation--like in this case classy fragrances, and on the other side there are hardcore fragrance lovers that connect with fragrances and appreciate them as an art form, that have been in the fragrance game for years and years. You know, I can't remember if I tried Masculine Pluriel... Mefisto Gentiluomo definitely has strong SMW vibes in the drydown though. Not so much in the opening. Love your picks Seb. Wore Nishane Hacivat a few nights ago. Didn't like it. Oh it opened very Aventus-like but devolved into something much less pleasant. It was as if notes were fighting each other, resulting in a weird BBQ sauce-esq accord. Creed's Aventus is far, far better for me. Every nose is different.

Sebastian, I like your presentations & respect your expertise, so I'm making bold to ask your advice. Last Christmas I got a bar of Crabtree & Evelyn "Vetiver & Juniperberry" soap. The fragrance is only available from them as soap. I find it intoxicating & have been sampling various Vetiver fragrances trying to find something similar without success. Lot's of delicious scents, but it's become an Idee' fixe to find one like this one. Do you have any ideas as to what might approximate this alluring smell?

Chanel's fragrance "Paris - Edimbourg" from the Les Exclusifs line. It has everything mentioned in descriptions of that soap except for sandalwood (which is replaced by cedar). Might be exactly what you are looking for!

It used to be a designer but no longer it's a niche house now! They do not make clothes anymore and no longer owned by any design houses or conglomerates. They are owned by a small company who owns a few perfume houses! That is the reason why I added it in this video!
