I loved that Samantha was proud of her beauty, despite the teasing from the other women. Since so many heroines are portrayed as being insecure about their appearances, it's refreshing to see the opposite portrayal.

@@proudatheist2042 Doesn’t mean you don’t like how you look overall just because you have some insecurities. I love how I look AND I wish I had bigger boobs. Overall, I’m very secure in myself, even with my flaws. Plus, I believe Samantha was considering the plastic surgery later in life when she got with Smith, who was much younger, and she was photographed alongside him in a magazine. Seeing yourself in photos can make almost anyone notice imperfections about themselves.

@kikiTHEalien6 ай бұрын
@@1105grumpyI was certain that they are going to dig up this ancent skeleton for the new show. The Big/Aiden storyline completely overtook Carrie's character, it is sad and so bizzare that they virtually gave up on the character played by the producer of the shows/films and reduced her story to a soap opera, while all the rest of the characters overcame numerous obticles and grew. One would think that Carrie would finally return to herself and become her own woman after her great love story got completed in no uncertain terms and Samantha left a self-sufficient-woman-with-a-healthy-ego-shaped gaping hole in the story, but no, she has to go back to the person she cheated on. Gross.

@kikiTHEalien6 ай бұрын
Samantha's Richard storyline was very well placed in contrast to Carrie's Mr. Big storyline to show how self-suffient people with a healthy ego deal with a situation where they get obsesses and lose theirselves in another person. Both women went as far as cheating on the men who actually wanted to be a part of their lives, but Samantha reached the point where she realized that she is not herself around Richard, so he couldn't possibly be good for her and she returned to herself, while Carrie never did.

#13: She didn't rely on a man, she relied on her friend to lend her the money. She and Aiden didn't want the same things..he wanted to settle in, have a house and kids. She didn't. She wanted a companion who liked the nightlife.

Granted, Carrie had a few messy financial issues but she didn't expect her friends to bail her out. She told them no when they offered. What bothered Carrie, was the fact that Charlotte had been talking about taking a volunteer job and walking around her million dollar apartment that she got in her divorce agreement, which her giant engagement ring on and when the other two offered to help Carrie, Charlotte looked away. Then she wanted to preach to Carrie about standing on her own? I can see why she was upset with Charlotte but in the end it wasn't Charlotte's job to fix her problem. But she should have offered something. Charlotte does end up helping Carrie and she pays her back. It was difficult, to be honest, to see Carrie tear up Big's check. I don't think I could have done that with the terror of being homeless laying in wait.
@annejohnson5875 Жыл бұрын
Carrie has a huge sense of entitlement and she's very self centered. First Aidan wanted her to keep the engagement ring but she refused. She could have sold that for her down payment. Then she tore up Big's check. Then Samantha and Miranda offered help, but she turned them down too. And as for Charlotte living in a million dollar apartment, she was also desperately looking for work in an art gallery and all she could get was a non paying position. She had a home, but no gainful employment. I don't see why after everyone else's help, Carrie felt entitled to chew out Charlotte. And Carrie did get herself into her financial problems. I don't see why it was uniquely incumbent upon Charlotte to bail her out, especially after so many other offers of assistance.

@@annejohnson5875 - someone commented on the same issue with regarding to that scene between Carrie and Charlotte (and Carrie badgering Charlotte to help her) on a different MsMojo video about SATC. That commenter seemingly defended Carrie's action towards Charlotte aa [I'm just paraphrasing the exact comment] "[Carrie] needed reassurance that Charlotte was there to help her". I was suprised at the comment and I wanted to reply but I would be just wasting my precious time
@chanoy._v87588 ай бұрын
Charlotte and Carrie both made decisions that got them where they were up to that point. Charlotte wanted the white picket fence life style and Carrie was a bit unfocused but she always seemed to like the night life. Nothing wrong with either. Charlotte apartment was the consolation for her divorce and it can be argued that if she and her husband had children, by law she would’ve been entitled to more. I think what she got was totally fair. If Carrie and Aiden had gotten married, eventually divorced, Carrie could’ve argued for the apartment too. All the other ladies were making decisions that took care of themselves outside of men or eventually with spouse. Carrie seemed to have been hoping around with Peter Pan syndrome buying shoes with no real hope of leveling up in life. It’s totally fine if that’s what you want but don’t expect everyone else to clean up your mess when reality kicks in. Charlotte always seemed like everyone else punching bag. I wish there had been scenes of her paying Charlotte getting payments back from Carrie. Like show her being responsible especially to her friend for ones.

I haven’t watched Sex and the City, but I do enjoy watching these videos. A question I have: why didn’t Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda come to Carrie’s birthday dinner that was talked about in #1?
@EffortlesslyEffervescent Жыл бұрын
Everyone was stuck in traffic, I think because of construction, so the roads were closed and Stanford ended up at a different restaurant with a similar name. Carrie didn't have a cell phone though so she didn't know that everyone was trying to get a hold of her by calling her home phone (Miranda tried to get the number for the restaurant from 411 but the operator couldn't find the place since she didn't know how to spell it). She came home to a crap ton of messages from everyone explaining why they weren't there yet and trying to get there.

I hate that they got together at all, and especially that she kept his baby. That was Miranda's demise. It was sweet in the show, but in real life it is a giant sacrifice which generations of women have been doing, because they don't have a choice. Making her have an unwanted baby without a partner and her insisting that is was a good choice completely jumped the shark for me personally.
