Itorah had a timed Steam demo, so look out for it in future games festivals would be my guess. It's pretty fun, and very pretty. 2020 was basically the year of Metroidvania Steam demos, haha. But we DID get Vigil, Biomass, Ori 2, Endless Memories and MindSeize and I'm really, really hoping we will still get Gestalt this year (Gestalt and Morbid would make for an AMAZING December) The demo for F.I.S.T. really didn't wow me, as I'm not sure how metroidvania-y it gets- the demo level was a pretty straight-up beat'em up with with some hidden collectibles. Missing from your list: -Guardian of Lore: releasing in Feb 2021, this game from a SOouth American team has you going into storybooks of various Native American tribes and trying to keep a dark force from corrupting their legends. Has a demo on Steam right now. -Yeomna: The Adventures of Demon Hunter- a hand-drawn game where one of your powers is changing into a cat to crawl through small chutes. Really gorgeous boss designs in the demo (demo still available) -8 Doors: Arum's Afterworld Adventure- another Korean metroidvania that has you playing as a junior Guardian of Death in the Afterlife, helping the celestial bureaucracy, while you try to find the soul of your father in the afterlife. Demo still available. -Smelter- a mix of metroidvania levels and Act Raiser-esque strategy over-world. Hard to describe it, but the demo is still available on Steam. -Slavania- a metroidvania set in Slavic mythos that takes a Witcher-like approach to monster-hunting where you need to research monsters for their weak spots, and you get to make branching story decisions -Rune Fencer Illya- just had a new trailer in the Escapist showcase alongside Grime; slated for 2021 -SteamDolls- Order of Chaos- a steampunk cosmic horror stealth metroidvania, where the protagonist is voiced by David Hayter. Has a HUGE concept demo on Steam, one of my favourite titles this year. I can go on (from my wishlist... there's a whole section for metroidvanias), but you get the picture, :) What I'm saying is, this video needs a Part II, haha

Thanks for that. Aware of these just decided to narrow the list down to 25! Yeomna looks good but the animations are a little off. I like the 8Doors but the colour palette isn't as attractive. Smelter isn't a metroidvania. Slavania looks alright but doesn't compare to these imo. Rune Fencer was previously on the list but I decided to shake things up. Steamdolls looks alright but animations are a little janky, and I believe there's some controversy surrounding it.

Elderbrand looks pretty rad. Shattered Souls also looks really cool, curious to see that genre mash-up. If Savior is even half as cool as it looks I'm in. Vernal Edge also looks like it has great combat. Some good stuff here, 2021 could be very good for Metroidvanias.

Most if not all will make to my library at some point even the newly mentioned to the channel. B4 i get to my absolute must have day1 games i need to confess something. After seeing Flynn and the world map, i may not consider it a metroidvania but an action platformer(a promising title nonetheless)... My day1 anticipating games are Savior, Kingdom shell, faeland, gestalt, Flynn, and vernal edge.(which i would like to see more exposure of vernal edge coz i forgot how good it looked when i first saw it months ago) Ps. The Aquatic Adventures of the Last Human is also an underwater metroidvania, with the original releasing in 2016 and the Switch port released in 2019. It's a fun one, but hella hard!

Great list, as always many great games yet to come and metroidvanias genre is still flourishing but my main concerns is that in many non-major metroidvanias released this year, the length of the game is quite disappointing with only 5-8 hours average to 100% the game, I think a metroidvania should be at least 15-20 hours to live up to the name with backtrack and exploration Side note: I know u may don't want to put the names on the top 10 to avoid spoilers but I prefer if all the timestamps are named by the game name and not just the number so when I rewatch I can go to the game I want immediately

Let's see, my family greatly suprised me by getting me a Xbox Series X, because of the Game Pass meaning it would be excellent value and...wow, great thing i still have a PC, a pretty weak one that basically only seems to run 2D indie games, but still great, at least i won't miss Hollow Knight:Silksong and most of these. Also, still have to play Axiom Verge, tried it a few times but never got far into it as it refuses to click with me, so at least not being able to play the sequel isn't a total loss to me.

Transmute actually looks like a game i could get hyped about. all those upgrades to find with fake metroid music playing in the background...yeah.

Several of these look promising, and some were already in my wishlist, but in general I'm disappointed how few Metroidvanias go for a Sega Genesis musical aesthetic as opposed to a SNES one.
