@@BlueAltaMultimedia I like that lineup. We haven’t had a physical 3, 4, and 5. It seems like we only recruited the 6’8”-6’10”beanpole body types up front who couldn’t deal with the big upper bodies inside. This year promises to be very different. ‘

You guys are a bit too cynical about Egor and why he's at BYU. He fits BYU very well, loves Coach Young, and seems to be having a great experience to this point if you can believe what he says. Kanon might be a bit more of a mercenary type, but he's fitting in fantastically as well. Maybe more tension within the squad develops as some guys don't get the minutes they think they deserve (sooooo many talented players on this squad), but for now you couldn't ask for better chemistry. This is going to be a very, very fun team to watch come November.
@micahbarrus840615 күн бұрын
Yup. One of Kevin Young's pitches is that he knows what NBA teams are looking for and that he can develop you to that point. Yes, there's money involved, but there's also the promise.

BYU will always have the LDS pipeline that should improve with additional success. BYU is willing to pay competitive, but not the top of NIL per those in the know. That will never be their top selling point per coach and others.

I knew you put them up there because my comment, and Kentucky is higher!! I win thank you for the shout out, even though Catchings will not be good, I’ll comment in January when he’s only getting 5 minutes a game

I would be very surprised if Kanon isn't playing far more than 5 minutes in January. He seems to have a great attitude and has all the tools. Guess we'll find out in due time.

Bold Prediction: Demin will be newcomer of the year in the Big12 and 2nd team all-conference, Saunders will be 6th man of the year. Mag will be on the All-Defensive team in the Big12, Catchings will be on the all-freshman team and by season’s end will be starting. This is a loaded group
@jeoffbenzos49592 ай бұрын
This team has top end talent and top end depth. Most the depth guys would be starters on other P4 teams. The only question is if Young can create team chemistry. My projected lineup: Demin Catchings Hall Keita/Traore/Mag Coming off the bench you have multiple 35% 3 point shooters in Knell, Saunders, Baker. Elijah Crawford shot 49% from 3 and Brody Kozlowski shot 43% from 3 in high school, and I expect them to get lots of minutes. This has got to be one of the deepest teams in the country.

People very close to the situation with Egor are on record saying NIL was a very small factor in his considerations. He’s at BYU to best prepare for the NBA.

Demin is a guard and Knell is a wing. And Koz will be deep depth (i.e. likely redshirt).

BYU won’t be going with Pope’s three guard lineup, they will utilize the big boys on the wings who out athletic Knell, who owns the nickname Mr. Inconsistent.

Guys, I know you have your favorite athletes on the BYU roster. However, the last I checked, basketball is a team sport that requires performing together to win.

@@dfausti66 True but in reality, you’re looking at an 8 man rotation maybe even 7, good teams don’t give significant time to 9 or 10 players.

Y'all keep giving Knell too much credit. Don't get me wrong he's a solid player with Senior experience, but Knell is just a pure shooter. He's a Kyle korver type player. He's not a great defender, and not strong with the ball in his hand. He's just out there to make a few threes per game and maybe a layup or two. Richie Saunders is the better overall player, and probably Dawson baker. I think Hall and Baker will be the main ball handlers + Egor

He cuts really well and is a decent playmaker. More than just a shooter

For the sake of rotations though It might make sense to play him with the starting group. You need guys who don't need the ball in their hands to play along side ball centric players.

@@jacobcorbridge4906 I know you don’t want me to give you his shooting stats starting with the last game and working backwards. Knell had 1 (ONE) good night from the middle of January on.
