Other than the content of this vlog, which is , as ever, professional, informative and interesting the thing that struck me about this vlog is the actual technical quality. The lighting, audio and camera quality is superb! I watch all your vlogs but for some reason this really stood out as almost technical perfection ! Other channels take note Great work as ever and thanks for doing all these. Regards Howard PS: agree with your choice of York - been there myself and it’s excellent

We've got a tour of Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms booked for the summer and we're booked in to Grantown for our last night before heading south to Strathclyde Country Park. Always nice to get a recommendation. Our three favourites are Old Oaks Glastonbury, Tudor Slimbridge and Llanberis in Snowdonia

So nice of you to put Somers Wood into your top 3. My hometown is Nuneaton, only 10 miles away from Somers Wood. Nuneaton was also home to the Author George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans), Larry Grayson (T.V. Personality), and still holds a Saturday street market dating back to 1160. Like many towns though, it's sad to see it decline with many of the large stores closing, the next one to be Debenhams. Best Wishes to you both, Dave.

May I request you make a video showing sites for those of us without a tow car and a van too big to take out for day trips? We don’t normally visit sites other than the club sites but we have stayed at two private sites which we really were impressed with and they were the Morris Leisure sites at Ludlow and Llanberis. The facilities compared with club sites and better than those that need refreshing. I think we will try the site at Grantown-on-Spey as it sounds a really good site, we visited a hotel in the Boat of Garten on the banks of the river Spey a few miles south of Grantown, so we know the area is lovely. Thanks for the inspiration to visit some other sites, happy touring when we can.

Great video, have made a note of the sites, one of our favourites is Resipole Campsite on Ardnamurchan, we live quite near it and had a few days there with our new van to get to know it, hope to go to Grantown in the spring, we had planned to try it pre covid but of course we couldn't! Another new small private site that not many people know about in that area is Speybay Golf Course, Tugnet, Speybay, with electric, use of the clubhouse, access to the beach and dolphin centre 😊

Mine would be the Two Mills Tranquil Parks site at North Walsham in Norfolk. A great base for exploring the Broads and the Coast. Another would be Dale Farm at Great Longstone in Derbyshire. Only a few hundred yards from the Monsal Trail and about a mile’s walk from Monsal Head, also good for exploring Bakewell and Buxton. Lastly would be Bath Marina, about a mile’s walk from Bath City Centre along the riverside path, and easy for access to the Bath to Bristol Railway Path.

Hello Bob and Jenny another wonderful, informative video, fantastic. I have only been to the Granton on Spey site so unfortunately I can't comment on all the sites you mention here but, I have to agree with you both that the Granton site is just brilliant and like you we didn't want to leave. I used the site a couple of months ago for work as being one of the many key workers I found it impossible at that time to find a hotel and indeed a hotel that would serve food, so the motorhome served me well and in many ways was far safer than staying in a hotel. Take care and stay safe.

My sister and now brother in law had their wedding reception at the golf course at Somers Wood and the meal they put on was outstanding with excellent staff service. I live in the next village to Meriden towards Coventry so it’s only 5 minutes away in the car. If you drive down through Meriden and turn right onto Albert Road (in the Coventry direction) and park on the street there’s a nice wood you could walk Poppy in called Millisons Wood. If you want an alternative to using your car or motorhome to go to the NEC then try the Birmingham X1 bus from Coventry which stops opposite the shops in Meriden. It also goes to the airport where there’s a mini M&S food hall and Spar. If you stay on it there are a load of shops at Sheldon, there’s a big Morrison’s just before the B425 left turn for Solihull known locally as the Wheatsheaf after the pub on the corner. There’s a Tesco’s and Aldi not far further on along the A45 both with car parks. The X20 bus which also comes from Coventry and stops in Meriden at the same place goes to Solihull, through Henley in Arden and onto Stratford Upon Avon. You can buy tickets via a smart phone and use it to show the drivers. In Meriden itself don’t miss out on a visit to Berryfields. They have a fantastic farm shop and bakery, the pork pies are outstanding as is the meat and the restaurant is something else when not shut for COVID - expensive but worth it. Currently they are doing a take away and it was very popular at the weekend. Turn right at the roundabout at the shops in Meriden and head through the village in the direction of Coventry and at the war memorial and pond (opposite the Manor Hotel) and right again onto the Berkswell Road - Berryfields is on the left at the top of hill - I’m not sure you’d get a motorhome in there but they sell all sorts including some terrific dog treats. If you carry on along the Berkswell Road at the top of another hill there’s a left turn onto Back Lane which is twisty and Phil Tuckey has a farm shop/butchers down there. Rick Stein visited it some time ago but the meat is award winning. Balsall Common which isn’t far away either is handy for driving to and there’s a Sainsbury’s petrol station and shop, beyond the roundabout in the village centre a good Co-op food shop with a car park on the left with I think a Shell garage on the right and a Tesco’s at the village centre on the left - you’d turn right out of the site and take 2nd left at the roundabout along the dual carriageway. If you carry on through Balsall and follow the road round to the right towards Warwick, rather than straight on to Kenilworth, you’ll pass the famous Tipperary Inn, famous as the birthplace for the WW1 song it’s a long way to Tipperary. Used to serve good meals there but haven’t been for years so don’t know now.

Hi Bob and Jenny. We do love Morris leisure sites...private. but on the caravan and motorhome club affiliated sites list...but would like to know why you got a motorhome in the first place and not a caravan?I know you used to do cottages etc like us before we had our first caravan...but then progressed to a motorhome. Just interested. ❤❤❤
@BobEarnshawMoHo
@BobEarnshawMoHo 3 жыл бұрын
Yes we did cottages first. Why we got a motorhome is one of our frequently asked questions. As we see it, the main benefit of a motorhome is that it is a flexible vehicle. When we stay at sites for shows and we stay in one place for a week, we can. We tow a small car with us for that. No need to move, and this way it is much like a caravan. The car is then used for driving to and from the show and for going out. When we want to travel around, stopping over night at places, we can. We don't take the car with us for these tours. Great for touring Europe or Scotland. When we want to go out just for the day, we have everything with us, toilet, cooking, fridge and even our beds. Great for visiting museums and castles. A motorhome can be used for many purposes, towing a variety of trailers, a car, or a boat, or a box trailer or trailer with bikes, motorbikes. The best thing is that everything is self contained and you can never forget things when you go out in it!
