To anyone who doesn't know, Copa Di Vino was bought by Splash Beverage Group in 2021, and now they can license the package. The $70 million is the current valuation since becoming a subsidiary. He most likely sold it for a huge amount of money (undisclosed), but Kevin was right in the end, the package was the golden ticket, he could have earned much more money. Another company with the same packaging already went to pitch to Shark Tank. James Martin totally missed the mark.

@@19DanSan91 Well he probably spent maybe a million to get it going along with probably low paychecks to keep growing the business. I thought it would’ve sold for tens of millions. $5.9 million in where he lives in California after taxes of selling a business is about $4 million. Well considering that for a 1,000 square foot home in CA the prices are usually in the 800K-1.1M range along with medium property taxes that $4 million does not really go that far. To buy a spacious house in many areas you need like $1.5-$2 million. If it’s a wealthy place like beach side Los Angeles or Silicon Valley it’s more like $4 million just for a spacious 2,500 square foot house that would cost like 8-10 times less in places like Texas or Florida. You’d even get 2 times the value in NYC (outside of Manhattan).

I love the fact that Mr Cuban is a no wasting time money men. He asks you straight to your face difficult questions to know how confident you are about your product and your strategy. James Martin (the copa di vino guy) was a complete selfish and ignorant person about his business. I believe his main problem was that he thought he is the Steve Jobs of the wine industry. He even dressed up similar to him. He was so satisfied with where he was, he couldn't realise there is much much more to climb on that ladder. He refused to go higher because of his ignorance.

The guy who went to prison was Joseph Falcone, somebody else in a different a wine distributor company, who told his investors that he would use their investments to distribute Copa De Vino products. He claimed that he helped go on Shark tank to pitch it and brand it, tricking investors out of 1.8 million dollars. He used the money to pay his own personal finances like his mortgage instead of growing the company.

A new company has already pitched to Shark Tank with the licensed package. In the end, he lost a lot of money because he didn't want to license the package and sold the company, and the group that bought the company is reaping the benefits, because like the sharks, they know the gold is in the packaging, not in his wine. He wasn't smart at all, and refused the sharks help. They truly would have made him a multi-millionaire. He totally missed the mark.
