Well there's many scientific truths that were in the Bible before people the "scientific community" realized them. But if you don't believe in God then it's telling you the opposite of what you "should" do. Secular humanism says you should be selfish.

Was reading the CSB but have noticed some issues. For example a scripture that is the subject of hot debate especially among atheist who like to discredit God is Dueternonomy 22:28 it reads Deuteronomy 22:28-29 (CSB): If a man encounters a young woman, a virgin who is not engaged, takes hold of her and rapes her, and they are discovered, 29 the man who raped her is to give the young woman’s father fifty silver shekels, and she will become his wife because he violated her. He cannot divorce her as long as he lives. If you read other versions like KJV, ESV, it does not mention rape but only says that if a man lies with a virgin who isn’t engaged he must marry her and that same principle is echoed in Exodus 22. That’s a pretty crucial error 😬

Without fact-checking I’ll simply take your word for it. The Old Testament definitely has parts that are “off”, because it was before Jesus arrived to correct and straighten out as many misinterpretations as possible (which he did in his short time, as much as he could to all who would listen). I don’t argue with atheists but it seems like a no-brainer to me that Man would get things wrong (or weird, lol) in measure of the times they lived in, as fallible men. It doesn’t disprove the existence of God, which is what is atheists are after, or trying to make this God seem awful, I suppose?) It could be that during the time of KJV (1500’s?) the r word culturally was regarded as grotesque/unspeakable, so they left it out while getting the main point across? Or with translations being as nuanced as they are, those translators felt it was unclear. So left it out. I don’t know what stands out to you as being as strange about the situation between the 2 translations, but to me 1 things stands out: the woman in this scenario has no free will. Not during the crime, not after. Since Jesus arrived, he spoke of free will (in various ways). This was perhaps the beginning of women being thought of as autonomous beings (if she is responsible for herself in soul & spirit, then why not the flesh?). A woman’s will was not considered during the times of Old Testament, but the arrival of Jesus would shift those ideas. All seems fair to me in acknowledging mens fallibility of Old Testament, along with Jesus’s perfection that came after.

The fake King James Bible removed 13,000 words from scripture. It was written by an unbeliever who had an unsaved son that thought the Bible was offensive. That’s why they replaced or removed the word blood and hell in hundreds of places. He replaced the Hebrew Masoretic text in the Old Testament with the nazi kittle text. Not that you care. @@tacopilot5290 Though it is true that the modern translations ‘omit’ certain words and verses (or conversely, the KJV adds to the Word of God, depending on how you look at it), the issue is not black-or-white. In fact, the most recent edition of a Greek New Testament which is based on the majority of MSS, rather than the most ancient ones (and thus stands firmly behind the King James tradition), when compared to the standard Greek New Testament used in most modern translations, excises over six hundred and fifty words or phrases! Thus, it is not proper to suggest that only modern translations omit; the Greek text behind the KJV omits, too!

It is derived from a library containing over 5,000 early Christian Bibles in 3 languages. Some of these date back to the 1st century, to Antioch, and Jerusalem. All 5,000 of these early Christian Bibles agree on 99% of all doctrine. All the corrupt modern versions are based off of the codex vaticanus. A heretical document from under the popes desk. Second the "new discoveries" admittedly contradict each other in THOUSANDS of places in gospels alone according to even Wikipedia. Third its just a LIE these are "older". Thats a false witness. "The Latin Vulgate Gospel of John, produced by Jerome in 383, was based on the Greek manuscripts which Jerome considered ancient exemplars at that time and which contained the passage. Jerome, writing around 417, reports that the Pericope Adulterae was found in its usual place in "many Greek and Latin manuscripts" in Rome and the Latin West. This is confirmed by some Latin Fathers of the 300s and 400s, including Ambrose of Milan, and Augustine of Hippo. The latter claimed that the passage may have been improperly excluded from some manuscripts in order to avoid the impression that Christ had sanctioned adultery: Certain persons of little faith, or rather enemies of the true faith, fearing, I suppose, lest their wives should be given impunity in sinning, removed from their manuscripts the Lord's act of forgiveness toward the adulteress, as if he who had said, Sin no more, had granted permission to sin.[b] "- wiki. New Matthew bible doesn’t have many of the errors the modern translations all have.
@ClaimingChristianity
@ClaimingChristianity 7 ай бұрын
What would those 'errors' be?
@GokuDeas
@GokuDeas 7 ай бұрын
@@ClaimingChristianity Some extremely serious ones. For example - Romans 14:14 - if you read the original Greek Paul said “common.” All modern translations changed it to “unclean.” Which is a verse used to say food laws are done away with, and that Lord Jesus was a liar when he said “it’s easier for heaven and earth to pass away then one small change in the law.” Another serious change is found in Matthew 5:28. All modern translations changed the Greek word from “wife” to “woman.” God’s law defines adultery as a married woman breaking wedlock. It’s impossible for adultery to be committed if the woman isn’t engaged or married to another man. The new Matthew bible (predates the KJV) - doesn’t have those two MAJOR errors that 99% of modern translations have. A man can not commit adultery if he desires or lusts for a woman that doesn’t have a husband nor is engaged. Actually - he’s commanded by God to marry her if he takes her virginity (no restriction if he’s already married). But if that same man sleeps with a married woman or engaged woman (that isn’t his) - he’s to be put to death for committing adultery. I can provide those laws from exodus if you want. Lord Jesus is saying in Matthew 5:28 - don’t covet/desire anything belonging to your neighbor. If you read exodus - 10th commandment - a man’s wife is part of his possessions - therefore - forbidden from another man desiring to take/steal (even in the heart).

As a serious Bible student I have researched many Translations and do not agree with any of your 4 suggestions. On top of that I recommend you stay away from paraphrases. The old King James has many translational errors and is difficult for the modern student to read. For the most precise Greek and Hebrew to English translation I recommend the NASV or New American Standard Version. The easiest to read that corrects errors in KJV I recommend NIV New International Version. Of the 4 you recommended the NKJ or New King James would be preferable.

The LSB = MASB (MacArthur American Standard Bible). It doesn’t bring anything new to the table and it undermines confidence in the many excellent English translations that already exist. The LSB isn’t more “accurate” than the ESV, NKJV, NASB, etc. There are a finite number of ways to translate something literally.
