Today I will look at the Top 5 Caveman Games on the Commodore 64!
I love this Top 5 List concept and decided to make another one after the success of my other Top 5 Lists. Caveman games are on of my favorite list and was so fun to play.

It may only have been released in Europe but there was one called "FRAK!" as well. Pretty simplistic but a lot of fun nonetheless. Caveman Ughlympics was a total classic!

BC's Quest for tires was really cool, I just wasn't quite good enough to get far. The diagonal scrolling and color scheme reminded me of Jungle Hunt, another game I couldn't get very far in. What I really needed was a break from the action. Like ... maybe if it alternated between a map where you planned your route and the unicycling (like Ghostbusters).

The action does just keep coming. On the atari version they would start you right next to a hole or rock and you would crash immediately. Was not a fan of that placement.

It's probably not *technically* a caveman game, but Dino Eggs might have made my list. :) But man, BC games and Caveman Ughlympics were just amazing games. Still have my original discs and box for that last one. :)

It was on my list but then I read it was a time traveler and not a caveman so I opted not to so people wouldn’t rip me for it. But it was a great one! That’s how Flintstones made the list.

Wow, I didn't even know there was a Flinstones game for C-64. So many great times with B.C.'s Quest for Tires! Great gameplay, good graphics, this was my #1 game for a while, caveman or otherwise. I don't remember Grog's Revenge, but may have given it a pass. My wife (girlfriend at the time) had Caveman Ughlympics and would repeatedly win every event against me 😃 .

Love the video clips you added like "so you're a caveman" and the drum roll before #1. I did play both the BC games and I remember coping and trying Ugh at least once. Nice looking website. How much is it now to have a web site? LOL I had one in the 90s that came free with my dial up internet! I'm already following your FB page.

In Flintstones those hi res multi coloured sprites would seem to defy the capabilities of the c64: either hi res mono chrome or chunky multi coloured. To get this his res multicoloured sprites they use 2 (or more) sprites over the top of each other, so each sprite is a single colour, but overlap them and you have a lovely hi res look!

Those Games sprites, Coding and Graphics were simply way ahead of their time, it made the 64k look like a Super Machine compared to the Amiga 512k And Atari St When it first came out, regardless of the commodore Amiga the 64 kept selling like hotcakes out-numbering the Total number of Amiga, NES and Atari Machines sold together. Their will never be a computer so famously compared as for 64/128 apart from the Vic 20 its predecessor which sold more then 2.5 million units alone, still good chance that more then 35% of those original units are still working after 40 years and hasn't reach landfill or E/waste. - The Vintage Guy (NSW Australia)

Grog's Revenge is great fun, and I do enjoy the graphics in Caveman Ugh-lympics. There's another game called Ugh! from years later, which is a sort of Space Taxi clone. Don't know if it got a US release.

I always wanted to love BC quest for tires since I remember it as one of the first I owned. But even 40 years later the control scheme and latency on the jump makes it impossible! I must have bad reflexes.

I just bought a Facebook Marketplace find with a Commodore 64 (board # 250425) , 1541c, 801 printer, two Commodore branded modems, around forty games with original discs for the machines. All were in original boxes except printer. Inside the C64 had never been worked on with back clips still not broken and all internals checked out perfect. Bought new power supply as I found the 9v AC bad. Previous owner had luckily not hooked up in thirty years. Also came with cassette unit also. Checked out with complete deadtest kit and all passed 100%. Was $300.00 a good price to pay?

@@FloppyDeepDive Some were original discs but no boxes. About twenty five percent were factory discs with factory sleeves. Started with computers right after this era but never had a C64. Love that everything I found was in like new condition. Absolutely no fade on anything. My first computer was an IBM PS/1 Consultant. Would love to have it back. Was windows 3.1 and DOS 6.22. I even dug out my Sony Trinitron 12" from 1982. Still works perfectly. It is a Profeel model. can't wait for cables to come in tomorrow to see how the c64 looks on it.
