One tip: Put a sunscreen stick (like neutrogena baby stick or ultra stick) next to the hand soap on your sink. After washing your hands, pat dry and rub the stick on the back of your hands so you don't forget to reapply.

true, there are specific membranes for cars' windows (sometimes they are a tad bit dark) that offer a very high UV protection. My boyfriend has them, it's very easy to apply over your windows, no damage at all, and when it's hot and sunny outside they help to keep the inside of the car a bit cooler

Well, I agree, but it seems like the other commenters are missing the point. Absolutely, Dr Dray seems like a very nice person and has an enjoyable personality, but she is calming because she is rational, professional, ethical and educated. Professionalism in healthcare providers includes pastoral and ethical education, duty of care, and reliance on scientific method. What is happening in this situation is that she is bringing all of these things to a popular medium. It is part of a populist way of looking at things to say that all the good things she is bringing to us are due solely to her being a singular 'hero', rather than a professional acting within a professional framework including academic bodies and licensing bodies. It’s the same as the 'bad apples' view, simply reversed. Dr Dray is bringing us scientific information delivered within the ethical framework of a healthcare professional. Both of these things are the product of many years of dedicated study, AND well designed degree courses. These courses are taught by experienced, professional educators, drawing on material that scientists in labs, and professors of ethics have dedicated their careers to over generations. Take away the years of academic study the professional ethics and you have a nice influencer selling products.

This comment won't help anyone but this video reminded me of something I haven't thought about in years. I met the legendary Mae West when she was 83 years old (1976). I was standing basically face to face with her while she chatted with me and a few other fans. I was very surprised to see that her hands looked amazingly young -- like the hands of a healthy 25 year old! Of course, as an 18 year old male I didn't even think to ask how she managed to keep her hands looking so young... Now I wish I had!

I love your videos! So helpful. I also really love how you don’t just recommend expensive products, which I can’t afford. I use to hydrate my nails with oil and hands with lotion and then put on nitrile gloves (this is My Bliss Kiss’s Intensive hydration treatment). Unfortunately, my stupid persnickety skin didn’t like the gloves and started giving me fingernail/bacterial infections. These healed but lead to onycholysis, which was worse and longer lasting then the infection in a way. As a result, I am afraid to wear gloves now. I don’t wear gloves when cleaning or when gardening. I used to always wear gloves to protect my nails. Heck, I wore gloves in the shower, which helped to protect my nails and hands immensely. I am definitely interested in the cotton gloves, because they breath, so you’d think they’d be ok. However, I’m kind of afraid of them. I am going to have to try to find out if cotton gloves would be apt to cause bacterial infection or if they are not because they breathe.

Awhile back you mentioned Eucerin Advanced Repair & I ordered both a tub & a large bottle of the lotion. (They're identical in feel to me, so when I get down in the bottle, I'll likely add the tub contents to it as it's more convenient for dispensing.) I can't thank you enough, Doc! I use the lotion from neck to toes after a shower, throw on socks for about an hour. The 'chicken skin' on my arms is SO much improved & I actually like the lotion for my feet as well as the pricier Kerasal. One of the unfortunate effects of menopause is the oddball wiry hairs that spring up on chin & neck, & I had a problem that I chalked up to ingrown hairs. I couldn't get the spots to *heal*. The Eucerin Advanced took care of the issue within weeks, & I can't tell you how long I'd suffered that embarrassment! Love it for my hands as well. I don't comment very often anymore but definitely wanted to thank you! Hugs to Miss K! Blessings! Jackie in upstate NY

Dear Dr, Dray, I really enjoy your videos and am enjoying them. I grew up in El Paso, and was there for much of the last 4 year period while my mom was still alive, so enjoy the familiar mild TX accent and shopping opportunities, as well as your very helpful information. Now, however, I am back at home in Juneau, Alaska, which I do love -- but not the shopping... We do NOT have: Dollar Tree, Wal-Mart, Target, CVA, Walgreens (or Rite Aid or any other chain pharmacies). We do have two small grocery stores, part of the IGA chain (think small independents that were bought by a chain that buys small independent stores in rural areas - and in fact IGA bought our 2 small independent groceries when the owners wanted to retire); one Fred Meyer -- bought by and now part of the Kroger chain; and one Safeway, which I rarely shop at as it is farther from me than Fred Meyer. We also have a very small Costco, probably the smallest Costco I have ever been in. I live in a medium-size regional center, and the capital city of my state. (Also, we have no road access to go anywhere else, as is also true in much of Alaska.) This is why rural America feels sort of left behind and "out of the loop". If you can do a video of skin care options available at Kroger or Costco, especially cost-effective ones, I would be very grateful.

Thank you for this video! I have deep vertical ridges in all my fingernails- a result of my thyroid cancer treatment. They always cause comment, and they actually can cause my nails to split vertically very easily. I didn’t know I could do anything about them!

When you think of skin care no one ever really think about their hands

Modest Melanin I don't remember where I heard this, but I remember someone saying that you can always tell a person's age by their hands/neck!!

Not me. I am obsessed with my hands. They look twenty years older than my face and of course you look at them all the time.

I disagree. But I have eczema on my hands, so I am biased. 😉 On that note, I cannot recommend the Eucerin Advanced Repair Hand cream enough for cracked and itchy hands.

Could you do a video showing examples of "unassuming" melanomas? For example, spots that turned out to be melanoma, but could have easily been missed. Most people expect very obvious larger moles or irregular spots! The more educated we are the better we can advocate for ourselves!

I just wanted to tell you thank you for all of your information in all of your videos. I just started a skin care routine sadly (in my 50’s) and it’s been great for me to hear from an expert. Thanks! 🥰

I like the Outdoor Research Active Ice gloves for driving. They have saved my hands driving in the So Cal sun. They come in good colors, and now come in cool prints!

Awww I put sunscreen on the back of my hand when applying to my face. I was doing a Dr Drag tip unbeknownst to me!!! Awesome!

I already use either Eucerin or CeraVe cream after a shower. I do find Eucerin very effective, but slightly on the greasy side, so after applying, I have to wipe or clean the palms of my hands to avoid that feeling.

My favorite hand cream for anti aging benefits is Kose Coen Rich Q10 Night Renew.. visable results after a couple of uses. Nivea Q10 hand cream is actually pretty good, too. Q10 is great for firming & lightening dark spots 🙂. Atrix Beauty Charge makes some good ones, too.

Great video (as usual). Dr. Dray, would you make a video explaining the difference between collagen and elastin, and if retinol or retinoic acid can help with elastin? Thank you for your honesty and for being so generous with the information.
