For still screen shots, I just use the Print Screen button on the keyboard. That copies the current screen to the clipboard. You can then paste it into your favourite graphics program and tweak as necessary.

When you do that? What does the UI that appears look like? Mine looks different than before. It used to have a drop down menu with the option to freeform, whole screen, normal snip etc. Now instead of that, it gives me the options in a row. It is always on the normal snip and if I want to do a whole screen, I have to click the button up there. Previously I could have full screen already selected and then click anywhere on the screen. Am I making an sense? If so has your UI changed as well?

Simple screen capture; Shift + PrtSc. Then manage with a program like GIMP. Simple video capture; Windows + Alt + R. Then again to stop. Access via Windows + G.

Yes, this is by far the easiest way, it goes into the screenshots folder, and then you can open it and do some adjustments lije cropping, color, contrast, sharpness etcetera, and then save it as a PNG file if you want to work more on it later but for 99% of things the adjustments built into the screen cap option take care of most adjustments. I find this quick 2 key screenshot function much easier than opening the Snipping Tool selecting what you want to snip selecting save etc, literally within half a second you can hit two keys and keep moving. Holding down Windows and hitting print screen in less than a half second is better in my opinion than half a dozen steps and relying on your mouse, keyboard keystroke shortcuts are always going to be quicker and more dependable.

I use the snipping tool for something quick. For work, I usually use Flameshot to annotate my images, since I usually have to highlight or add text to them.

screenhunter 7, it can be a bit annoying with every seventh screencap opening the "buy me now" prompt.
