It wasn’t really because it was physical oriented tbh (it still has a solid special attack with a lot of special coverage) it was more so because it was not only slow but didn’t make up for that slowness with its average bulk and lack of both useful resistances and reliable recovery
@sohan23622 жыл бұрын
Not really. Pure electric even if you take away its one weakness and replace it with an immunity is still not a good defensive type simply because it lacks resistances and gets trucked by everything neutrally. And for something that slow, being able to take a few hits is important. Being "physically oriented" is by no means it at all since that's irrelevant since its special attack is still good, so what's even the argument for that.

Sand Force is nice but I hope it also works out of Sand, like 20% Boost out of Sand, 33% Boost in Sand would make Megachomp a better wallbreaker as that was it's role in the first place but it's ability restricts it somewhat to sand teams and given how much of a wallbreaker Excadrill and Tyranitar was in sand, Megachomp was more of an afterthought.

One way Team Preview could be implemented without relegating Zoroark to the trash bin would be to show the Pokémons of the opposing team in alphabetical order, regardless of their actual order. This way, instead of going "Oh, okay, Gengar is in the 6th slot, I can expect that the first time it shows up it'll really be Zoroark", the opponent would actually have to guess which Pokémon will be imitated. That'd be a reasonable amount of mind game.

Alternatively, it coud have a hidden ability similar to Illusion, but to make it take the appearance of the first Pokémon on the preview. If at least two Pokémons in the team could potentially be good baits, the opponent would have to guess between the two until they had a better clue.

Coalossal basically did the same bait and switch to me as gen 4 Electivire. I saw that Steam Engine boosted your speed by 6 stages, even tested it in-game myself to be sure, and just sort of assumed, since Coalossal was a big rock monster, that it probably had a high attack stat and would be extremely dangerous if it were both fast, strong, and bulky. I thought you'd be able to use it to dissuade fire attacks from coming out against Ferrothorns. Turns out Coalossal has 80 base atk and spatk, meaning the only real way to use Steam Engine is with a deliberately weak Surf in doubles to activate both Steam Engine and Weakness Policy.

Luckly, Zoroark has gained a powerful niche as a revenge killer in gen 8 ou when paired with gengar. Gengar is argueably the perfect disguise for Zoroark, baiting in fast psychics while discouraging fighting type predictions. With it's incredible coverage of dark pulse, flamethrower, sludgebomb, and focus blast/extrasensory, there is very little in ou it can't hit super effectivly. Not to mention that it has two immunities, one of which most people forget; the obvious psychic, and prankster status moves. One turn is all it takes for Zoroark to blast a fatal hole in an enemy team, and it can easily manage to get more then one turn with smart play. Ferrothorn? Dead (Flamethrower ×1) Clefable? Dead (Sludgebomb ×2) Toxapex? Dead (Extrasensory ×2) Urshifu? Dangerous, but dead (Extrasensory ×1) Tapus? Dead (Sludgebomb ×1-2) Celesteela/Corviknight? Zoroark was introduced in the wrong generation IMO due to Illusion debuting the SAME generation as Team Preview. And Electivire alongside Dusknoir are examples of Gen 4’s philosophy of trying to make an evolved form as good as possible since it was meant to be the ultimate generation. Some worked, like Weavile. Yet Dusknoir still suffered from low HP, power and speed. And a lack of strong physical ghost STAB till Gen 8. Electivire lacked a strong physical Electric STAB, boosting move and had low physical bulk.
