Houndstone was or is not ridiculous. He got banned because of its signature move Last Respect. But once home and PLA mons hit the meta, it will be brought back as Basculegion can also learn the move. So most likely they will only ban the move instead of the pokemon

When ORAS came out, the new tier PU had pokemon like lopunny and bedrill that received new mega evolutions. At the time, the tier was full of pokemon that were not even fully evolved; having just 90 attack was considered godlike. Then out of nowhere, mega pokemon got introduced. @@Terrified_Dartanyan Well to be fair, Zygarde is only 9 years old, and Guzzlord is 6 lol (wow time flies…….) But yeah, I personally think that Zygarde became a Guzzlord after it succumbed to the power plant exploding and leaking radiation. It also checks out that Zygarde would be near the power plant during its meltdown, as it is the guardian of the ecosystem. After becoming corrupted, it became the destroyer of the ecosystem, Guzzlord……. Hell, you find Guzzlord & Zygarde in the exact same cave lol. There’s just so much to explain… James Turner, who designed Guzzlord, was asked by a fan if there was any significance to Guzzlord’s heavy resemblance to Zygarde. His response was, “Ah… That’s something I don’t think I can really get into. They do look a lot alike though, huh :)” A theory that I *personally* came up with, is that Guzzlord was going to be a major plot point in the scrapped Pokémon Z game, maybe even a form Zygarde took that Team Flare caused it to mutate into, and you had to “purify” it. Since the game was scrapped, it was then saved for Generation 7, and either: A. Made into a completely separate Pokémon, but the similarities from the original concept were unchanged, causing us to think that the two are the same Pokémon (since that was the original intention). B. Kept the original idea of Guzzlord being a corrupted Zygarde, but tweaked it to not be shoved in our faces, made far more discrete, leading to multiple interpretations. Of course, I’ve no MAJOR proof of it originally being in Pokémon Z, but it still seems plausible I think. GameFreak is known to scrap ideas, only to introduce them later, even if slightly tweaked. We would need for the Beta of Pokémon Z to be leaked, if they even began developing it at all before scrapping it… Still, as sad as it is that the game never saw the light of day, that extra time they got to develop Sun & Moon truly, truly payed off. Please, I can wait a year without a main title coming out, like they did in 2015, the year Pokémon Z would have been released……. It’s why they were able to bring back every Pokémon in Sun & Moon, they actually took a breather for a year.

No, they won’t. I read the smogon entry to Houndstone. They said they’re only banning Houndstone and not the move because ATM, only Houndstone has the move. They said if “the rumor is true and another Pokémon is getting the move” that they will end up banning the move, what means neither basculegion willl be banned, AND Houndstone will be taken out of Uber.
@Terrified_Dartanyan Жыл бұрын
@@JustCallTre yeah same thing, I just want to have fun with Basculegion, he seems great on rain with that monstrous 120 HP
@breloommaster12 Жыл бұрын
@@JustCallTre there is actually a wrench to this plan for freeing Houndstone, and that is Basculin-White-Striped. A move is only banworthy for being OP if it is broken on ALL of its MULTIPLE users, of which there are currently 4 (Houndstone, Basculegion -Male, Basculegion-Female, Basculin-White-Striped). If even one of those users isn't broken with the move, the move ban reasoning would be lost and the other three users will be banned instead. So I hope, for your sake, that Last Respects is enough to break Basculin-White-Striped as well, and bear in mind that Basculin-White-Striped is not only much frailer, but it also lacks a weather speed-boosting ability like its brethren.

I think it's because only newly introduced box art legendaries are Uber by default, hence why pokemon like Kyurem and Necrozma were in the lower tiers for a hot minute. At the same time, the alternate forms of kyurem and necrozma were in ubers right off the bat because they were introduced as box-arts. I think the same rationale could have been applied for Zygarde-C if pokemon Z ever existed, but since it didn't debut in a game that had it plastered on the cover, it wasn't uber by default. Not sure how it works for the DLC legendaries, though.

Last Respects is probably the most broken Pokemon move EVER. Think about it, if you sacrifice everyone else on your team, the move's base power will be 300, which is stronger than freaking explosion. It doesn’t make the user faint like explosion ethier. The only way to tank it would be being normal type…

A few things just occured to me. 1. They clearly haven't learned their lesson from Dracovish, whose base stats aren't that great, but has a busted signature move, similar to Houndstone. 2. The base power of Last Respects actually caps at 5050 if pokémon faint 100 times since revived pokémon who faint afterwards also count. I know this is impossible in pvp battles and tournaments, but still. 3. Basculegion can learn Last Respects by breeding, and has Swift Swim and Adaptability. I think, shortly after it becomes available, Basculegion will also be banned.

I think it’s obvious that GF doesn’t balance around Smogon’s format. Saying they “haven’t learned their lesson” sounds pretty condescending.

Actually, it’s technically possible. Pawmot and Rabsca get Revival Blessing, literally a revive in the form of a move. It won’t reach the cap, but you can easily get LR to 400 or even 500 with Leppa Berry on both.
