Breloom was held back due to HP coverage issues and lack of physical secondary STAB. But in ADV, as mentioned, it did have the rare Spore alongside Stun Spore. And the rare dual resistance of Rock and Ground. The P/S split, Poison Heal and Technician boosted it. And it always stayed in UUBL-OU. Can’t wait to see it in SV. Wanted Jynx to get an evolution similar to Electabuzz and Magmar. They always had a similar dex order, their learnsets are still similar to this day and Smoochum evolves at level 30 like Magby and Elekid. Moltres always had a good defensive and offensive typing, and it got options like the rare Will-O-Wisp in ADV, and could maybe run Morning Sun. Then it got Scorching Sands and Heavy Duty Boots. It's nearly impossible to document significant meta game developments in formats like Nintendo cup 1997. However when it does get played (on Showdown spotlight, or in primarily Japanese social media servers) Its developed in a fashion that more revolves around PP stalling with Double team and Rest on pokemon like Jynx, Lapris, Articuno, Jolteon, etc. In that environment gaining a PP advantage is a significant tool... For that reason Ditto of all pokemon has proven it's worth, through a combination of PP and switch stalling Ditto can transform into opposing pokemon and copy +6 evasion in 1 turn while also getting 5 PP per move every time it transforms meaning that it can waist the opponent's PP while staying healthy with Rest it copied over and over again without burning the too much PP of your other Pokémon.

To which point I was thinking ADV Mr.Mime (Uber by technicality). It’s hilarious how much Moltres gets slept on every Gen though. Fire spinner in 1, surprisingly dangerous Sun abuser and sleep talker in 2, late OU rose in 3, dangerous status abusing offensive rank niche in 4, MOLTRES is hilariously good both on and against RAIN in Gen 5 for ridiculously powerful Hurricane spam and only Fire Blast to OHKO Ferrothorn and 2HKO Jirachi UNDER RAIN. Even in modern Gen both it’s Kanto and Galar formes can do massive OU work on the right team. Some mons just can’t be put down and retain a relevance/personality no matter what, and Moltres as a unique and ever slept-on threat is one of those as surely as Cloyster is an unconventional offensive threat with utility roles, and Blissey is Blissey.

if you ever stood against a breloom in gen 4 outside of sand and behind a substitute, then you will understand two things: 1. that stats aren't evertyhing 2. the true meaning of suffering

I'd love a video on Pokemon that rose or fell drastically with the Physical/Special move split of Gen 4.

Waiting to see Compound Eyes Sleep Powder and Butterfree, Vivillion meta. Wonder how manual Electric or Grass Terrain could be utilized in pre gen 7 metas.

Grass and electric types have never been dominant in singles. The only game-changer terrain might have caused off the top of my head, is that Sceptile might have been a menace with it in gen-3, since all grass moves were special so it could use moves like Leaf Blade from its Special Attack and there wasn't Surperior yet, and Tyranitar was the king of Gen 3 OU so that would have Sceptile all the more viable

I think this type of video would be cool to see with different moves, for example, how defogger went from useless to mandatory

Love this kind of video! It would be awesome to see a similar video, but about how a pokemon suddenly starts using a set that is completely unlike what they first were known to run. (i.e. Talonflame going from mainly using choice band to using a bulk up stallbreaker set in gen 6)

That would include every single ou pokemon in every generation

Way to go Moltres on rising through the ranks years later (and the other mons as well). As for other videos I'd like to see more Smash Bros on here as well. You've already done ones on Jigglypuff and Pikachu so a return to other SSB mons (and characters) would be nice to see.

It's pretty surprising that 2 Pokémon were able to change one of the most stale and established meta games in RBY OU.
@vtmagno232 жыл бұрын
rby doesn't see as much adaptation compared to the newer gens but it's still insane how much happens. Kabutops is another Pokémon that's on the rise that just hasn't reached moltres, persian and other good lower tier mons' level of viability yet

I would love to see a video that if you had to do a complete overhaul of how stats, typing, abilities, and moves what would you do.

Counter-Idea: 5 Pokémon who fell off after their Meta "ended" (Example: Golem's drop from Gen 1 OU to Gen 1 NU, caused by the discovery that you can't paralyze a Normal type with Body Slam, and UU being full of Water types & Special Attackers)
