After you said Bill Hicks told homophobic jokes I had to look up that performance to see for myself. Bill Hicks "homophobic" jokes were really poking fun at toxic masculinity (the whole dancing as a man is gay cause men are supposed to be angry and reserved) and also the male double standard of finding male homosexuality "gross and evil" while finding female homosexuality as "fine and sexy". He takes the approach of leading the audience through a bait and switch w them, seemingly saying the standard homophobic response but then following it up w pointing out the hypocrisy/double standard. So idk if I'd label the jokes themselves as homophobic but really a take on homophobia itself.

Put it this way: I once asked Bill before a gig if he was aware that Andrew "Dice" Clay had performed in town the night before. He shot back "Of course! I'm the antidote!"

Loved everything about this. More than one example of people who've helped me stay sane on this wold and silly ride so far. Crazy to think I'm older now than Bill will ever be, but it's beautiful to still be able to hear his voice echo of the edofoces of stupidity and his vision reflected in the eyes of those who still want to connect and make the ride better.

there's alot of stand up that ive watched over the years and you basically tapped on all the comics that i watch most when i need a different view point to bounce off of when i myself am having trouble trying to rationalize shit going on in my life. and Cracked has always been there too. i was reading every article on the website before i knew about the youtube channel and i love that you Swaim are continuing to keep this beloved brand going. I loved all the full recaps of movies you did, those were wonderful to listen to while i was slaving away at work pushing snow and making sure people didnt die on my runway here in my home town. Stand Ups exist to give us a vocal slap in the face to come to our senses when the world around us is crumbling and they find the absurdities within the system to say "hey, isnt this kind of bullshit and funnny". dont stop being you and what made this brand what it was.

One I would add would be Craig Ferguson's monolouge after Brittany Spears was in and out of rehab. Instead of making fun of her, like every other late night comedian, he shared about his own struggles with addiction and asked for sympath for a young person going through a rough time.
