Just moved to Florida, and just had my first experience with a real sand MX track a couple days ago. Holy crap, what an experience! Lotsa places to ride, and it's all sand. I will learn to master it!

I will agree with the comment that sand is a BEAST. It might get fun one day, but for now, my son and I just hate it. The problem is that we live in Florida. It's kinda like not liking heat and humidity. There is just no way around it for us. But we are working on it.

Super cool video Chase - I really want to try out your bike sometime. Anyways, along with having the proper tire, if you know you're only going to be on sand, you can lower the tire pressure a bit (not too much to cause a rim slip, but enough for some added traction). Also - don't take off from a dead stop too hard, as you may roost not only your buddies behind you, and fill their goggles with sand thus causing time and play delays, but you can also roost yourself and fill your pants and cause chaffing issues that will lead to shortened ride times. One thing I always do with the air filters in the sand is to use rim grease along with the oils. Try not to use super greasy or waxy chain lubes in the sand - does more harm than good as the sand cakes up in the rollers. I've had good success with 3-in-1, WD-40, or light silicone sprays as replacement...

Those are all good points! Especially about sand in the pants. That never goes well. And i'm sad to report that I no longer have gold ol' Honda Housey. I'm now riding a yellow and blue machine! Thanks for the good input.~Chase

In 4wd's the number one most effective thing that will make or break your drive is lowering tyre pressure, surprised that this isn't apparently the case with bikes

The exhaust is pushing out a lot of air so there's really no way for sand to get in through the exhaust if the bike is running. Thanks for checking out the video!

Add a touch of Vaseline to the inside of your goggles, on the upper and lower foam. It will gather any sand that might get into your goggles and keep it from bouncing around and into your eyes.

I’m 67 years old, don’t want to ride fast. I ride in northern Michigan, plenty of sand. On my ssr 125 I put the fattest, knobbiest tires on, a softer rear shock to lower it , and reversed the triple clamps so the steering stem is actually forward of the forks. Probably won’t be possible on all bikes, steering stops may interfere. This increases trail dramatically which gives straight line stability. Google trail and rake.
