Here's a tip from me. Coming from JFK to Tokyo, it is $21,000 1st class Emirates. Instead, fly a cheap economy to LHR for $500 1 way, then a 1st class tick from LHR to TOKYO is only "$9,900" over 50% less

Got to fly Lufthansa First class on a 747 from IAD to FRA about 3.5 years ago. Even with the more open concept seating, the experience was incredible. Food and wine was top notch, service was excellent, I had the best sleep of my life on a plane, and the First Class terminal experience in Frankfurt is not to be missed! We'll be flying First Class on Singapore Airlines this summer to Japan, and I can't wait to check another one off the bucket list!

Hello Sam. One clarification: on Air France, to upgrade from business to first class with miles, you need a Flying Blue Elite Plus (Gold, Platinum or more). You cannot upgrade without one of these statuses.

But while Etihad is replacing its Boeing 777-300/ERs with Airbus A350-1000s, we're not too sure when or even if the airline will reactivate its Airbus A380s. For the Airbus A350-1000s, I see that the initial batch of aircraft have Business and Economy without First, though like the earlier Boeing 777-300/ER fleet, subsequent aircraft may or may not have First Class installed. All we can do is sit tight and wait for further info.

I flew AA 1st class on their 777ER from GRU to MIA. Since that was my 1st and only experience, i'm not able to make any comparisons. But their service was awesome !!!! The seat is wide like a throne and can be turned to become an office desk, pajamas and bed clothing from Casper. I remember to have been offered 3 choices of food. The cabin crew chief (Pablo from Cuba) is a real lord and was always there for any need....he took an excellent care of those 8 passengers.

Hi Sam, I was so happy to see how highly you rated Air France LaPremiere. In both August and December 2022, I was lucky to be offered to purchase the upgrades to LaPremiere at check-in all four times, and although it was less money to upgrade in Miami than upon return in Paris, I still did it because it’s such a great experience. Also I have a broken toe, and being driven on the tarmac to the private club and then driven again to my connecting flight to Rome, was a delight. I am going again in June. I already have my business class RT ticket, but am hoping to purchase the upgrade once again. Once you have flown in La Premiere, you are spoiled for life! I worked more than 50 years for the right to travel in luxury, and life is short, so enjoy it while you can! Thank you for a great video!

@@MeowAttack1 All it takes is 50 years of hard work. I managed a very high profile real estate investment firm in Chicago, IL, meaning that sometimes I worked 12 hours a day with the clients. A person’s pay is based on their skills and contribution to a company. My advice is to learn a skill and then work as hard as you can.

hi Sam - I could not agree more, AF LaPremière is truly an amazing experience. AF Business class is also good but I fly La Premiere whenever I can if there are good deals on price. Everything is great but the lounge is the best. You forgot to mention that a complementary massage is also available plus the lounge is 100% reserved for only LaPremiere passengers. For me this is important as, for example, BA allow non 1st class passengers in their Concorde room so it is always very busy. I have never seen more than about 6 people at once in the LaPremiere lounge in CDG. Also as I connect into CDG from a regional UK airport, the car pick up service and dedicated customs/security for the lounge (again something that BA don't have !) is a massive bonus saving time and hassle. Keep up the great reviews.

@Dr Weirdgloves hi - I haven't flown BA First for more than 5 years so my experience is somewhat out of date. AF LaPremiere lounge can also be used on arrival if you are in transit which for me is always as I fly back from CDG to NCL. Other factors which make BA First extremely poor compared to LaPremiere - 1) Connecting into LHR from a Domestic flight you are not picked up at the plane and taken directly to the lounge - you have to make your own way through the "scrum" of LHR 2) The Spa experience was downgraded and in the lounge complex the Spa is shared with Business class/Gold card etc. At least last time I was there I could not book easily. Plus it's just a massage chair - AF is dedicated SPA for F only plus you can book in advance 3) Food in CDG LaPremiere lounge is way better than Concorde room - Michelin star standard 4) I know someone who has a BA "Black" card which is only awarded to select people but he can use Concorde room in any class - I accept there are likely few of them. Living in UK, BA is nearly always more expensive for me than AF so as the service is undeniably better in LaPremiere (main difference being on ground services), I can't imagine any reason for selecting BA !

Our first time to fly First Class was on Lufthansa from Carlsbad, CA to Naples on an Air Bus back in the early 2000's what a memorable experience this flight was to both my spouse and me. This was United from Carlsbad to LAX and then Lufthansa from LAX to Munich and on to Naples.

While working as a consultant for Saudi Airlines I received 1st Class flights from the UK to Jeddah. Heathrow to Dubai Boeing 777, nice aircraft and very well manufactured. The carrier was Emirates. Then Dubai to Jeddah on the Airbus A380 again with Emirates, 1st Class suite with steward service. The A380 was an amazing aircraft due to its size and the onboard bar for 1st Class travellers on the top deck. Seating was within a private enclosed cabin with a full-length bed. The concierge service for both legs was excellent and highly recommended. Small details like the cabin crew knowing your name and taking your suit jacket to hang up in your closet added to a great experience.

Some overseas lounges are very impressive, but Delta's new lounge at Los Angeles, with a massive outdoor patio, with full bar out there, can't be beat anywhere. For those who treasure fresh outside air, lots of caviar and lobster isn't as impressive.

Air France is much more intimate as you mentioned and they really try to get more personal with the passenger, its less "by the book " service like you can have it in SG for example and more authenticity . The only time I ever flew first class was on British Airways 747 from San Francisco to London back in 2017. It was quite a fun experience for me and my dad. The food was good, entertainment was good, and the amenities were good too. I even sat almost at the very front of the jumbo too. I had a great time.

I flew First class on a flight from Auckland to Sydney on an Air New Zealand DC10 in the late 70's. Amazing experience, though the reason was not our choice. We were economy but lost our seats to a booking error. Air NZ gave us the first class upgrade, a night in an up market hotel and the full silver service breakfast on board. They were lovely to us and the flight was tops. Well you did ask .. love your channel and wish I was 60 years younger. Cheers from NZ :)

Great video Sam, thank you so much for taking the time to highlight the best first class experiences you've had, wouldn't mind seeing the full list. I recently flew First Class with BA from LHR - MEX on their 787-900 and it was awful, from the lacklustre welcome at the Concorde Room to the poorly designed cabin layout and the less than attentive staff onboard it was a very poor experience in so many areas. My tray table was jammed and both crewmembers put their weight on the opposite side to get it to slide, I wasn't offered to have my bed turned out, the screen across the aisle made sleeping awful due to the angle at which they're installed, I had to call the crewmember back after my meal was served because I wasn't offered any drink with my meal which was itself less than hot and the lie flat seat wouldn't lie flat, one of the controls didn't function. Finally, I'm still waiting for my miles to be credited to my Avios account almost 4 weeks after the flight.

I understand...many Brazilian passengers also complained on BA for flying their 787s instead of the 777s from GIG. Some HV passengers are now flying from Rio to São Paulo to get their 777 service from there.

I had a similar experience flying from Rome to JFK through Heathrow in June 2022. Heathrow is a nightmare scenario for first clas passengers on BA. Going though their security was like sheep going through the dip. Perfect Hell. No special consideration to what class you are traveling at all. Got to the Concorde Room finally and had a very mediocre meal as I waited for my flight to JFK. However, I can say that all of the staff that I encountered - on the airplane and in the Concorde room were outstanding and gave me a total sense of being taken cared for. The product on the plane was old and tired with nothing special about the WC . I should have flown business and saved myself a lot of money. I did fly business back to Heathrow from JFK and that product was almost as good as the first class I was in going to New York. The BA staff apologized for the lack of special services in the airport for their first class passengers. An apology for the entire experience would have been more appropriate. Avoid Heathrow at all cost. Thank you.

The flight attendant's uniform on Singapore was so beautiful and elegant - wow! The lounge of Air France and the service, just stellar. I kind of preferred overall though, the Emirates though. I have experienced QF A380 FCL, EK FCL with shower, and BA. I would say for the inflight facility, you can't beat the EK one, which has the shower/spa feature. They have an excellent wine selection on board. However, for the staff service, QF is the best. I am looking forward to them launching the A350 one. Thank you for the video.

Good old Swissair. Once had the pleasure to fly LA to ZRH First Class in 1996. Funny thing, you could still smoke on a plane. My seat was first row window and there I was allowed to smoke cigarettes. (I quit smoking in the mean time btw). Got an upgrade at LAX coming in from San Jose, Ca. Later, I flew a few times in Swiss First Class. But perhaps the first time is the one you remember best.

My experience is that it is better to buy the business or first class tickets at the time of booking then try to upgrade at the airport. For United, Virgin, Emirates and Turkish, just one leg upgrade at the airport would have cost me more than if I had purchased the entire business/first ticket at the time of booking.

Congratulations indeed, your videos are amazing! For me many flights around the world in business class with many different airlines but only one in first class, with Qatar Airways and it was wonderful!

Thanks for the informative vids. The information about buying options (VPN combined with another county, air-miles etc) is very useful insider information, I’d love to see more of that; perhaps an add on to each airline vid or a separate vid. I’m just starting to use first class at the age of 62, my business can now afford the expanse. Sooo great 😀

Why I feel that you are unfair when you added AirFrance flight experience with this precious group of Airlines, where we didn't see something that makes you put AirFrance in this collection like: the airport lounge, food, plane seat, privacy with curtain?, and the lavatory. Sam, nice vlog 💯. Always had a great experience with Emirates for last 3 consecutive years .. A heart full thanks to you for explaining the cheapest way to obtain these FC tickets. This is a good list Sam and I will agree with your scoring. I will only add Etihad’s first class on A380 which is a similar experience to Emirates or La Premiere. Qatar first class is also not bad, may be it won’t make it too 2 but definitely in top 5. Keep the good content coming Sam

I may sound biased as a Singaporean but it seems like SIA Suites beats everyone else. But yes agree that SIA ground service needs improvement. New lounge is a big improvement though!

Only flew first class once between Singapore and Tokyo Narita on Singapore airlines. 2018 on a 777. On the way back my wife and I were the only ones in first class so it was all to ourselves 😁. Loved it and I can’t wait to do it again.
