Your set up is looking amazing! Ugh yes the pain of regret, I feel you. I did something really dumb last year and sold a few echinocereus rigidissimus (rainbow cactus). They had super dense gorgeous spination with perfect rings of color. Rainbow cactus aren’t rare but it’s the good genetics you want that are. Whelp I still kick myself for letting them go, I’ve never been able to find any with those genetics since. And the only reason I sold them was because I thought maybe I had too many plants and should downsize... (I only had about 30 at the time) but after that experience I said screw it, I’m living now, I’m unapologetically owning all the plants that spark happiness. 🌵🌱🌿

I just started a "no buy" year. I'm not planning to buy anything other than things needed for life, like food, and things I need to maintain what I already have. I love your videos, and I agree, its healthy to know how to let plants go. I'm in the habit of gifting plants to anyone that's interested, passing on hard to find plants to friends and family. A few times I've had a hard time doing that is with slow growing plants, or plants I've grown from seed and nurtured for a long time.
@MrFkoller3 жыл бұрын
One that pains me the most is a Clivia miniata I grew from seed I got from my grandmother. I grew it for almost 5 years, and then once it finally bloomed I gave it away to my godmother. Similar to you I don't ever regret giving it to her, but I do wish I had it to see how its grown. Thankfully I had a sibling to that plant, and that one I've kept and it's bloomed twice since, so I think I've been rewarded for gifting it.

Not quite the same as I didn't sell it but I had the most beautiful Bipennifolium Aurea cutting that I bought for around £15. It had started rooting and was producing it's first growth spike when I went on a trip to India in Jan of last year. I entrusted the care of my plants to my sister who had no experience and she did an amazing job for the most part but that plant was one of the casualties. I obviously don't regret the trip (especially given how 2020 turned out!) I got to see one of my best friends get married but I do still think about that plant and I cannot find another one :(
