You should do a challenge where u just use absolutely huge lures like the 6" shrimp, big bomber windcheaters, big xraps, big sebile magic swimmers, huge swimbaits, etc.

Sweet man. Down here in Trinidad, these big swimbaits, shrimps and flairs get mauled from snook and tarpon. We get 100lb plus tarpon in small rivers with spooks and spooltek!

excellent no-nosense video. headed to lauderdale on the June10th for 2 weeks of fishing. Lived in St Pete for 12 years and been in Chicago since 2006. I'm very pumped ...but you gave a great refresher course on my lure selection and i have used every bait you mentioned. Looking forward to catching sea bass and door mat flounder and some early morning beach snook ! Hope there is no red tide now, or I may be driving to keys!!! Thanks for an great video!!

Outstanding video! You're getting more proficient on your public speaking and professionalism, one of the reasons I watch your videos. Have you ever heard of Jose Wejebe aka Spanish Fly? Some of the things you do and the way you take care of fish preservation reminds me of him. Keep on fishing and hopefully in a future see you on your own fishing tv show!

Hey Lawson great video as usual, great how you explain each lure. I'm from the northeast so it's great to get some good advice if I ever head down there. I noticed you like twitch baits. You should check out the Sebile Stick Shadds they come in tons of sizes and colors!
@JayBigDadyCy7 жыл бұрын
one of the most important things is to experiment with your location. I'm east coast soflo and as much as I've heard red and white are the go to colors, I've never done well in the icw with it. I've found, for my area, that olive, blues, and black/silver are best. You're info is amazing and thank you for your vids. Makes me want to get out there!

I didn't see you talk about that rapala x rap, which is one of my favorite lures when I'm inshore fishing up here. They have updated them now with single, bigger, vmc hooks because those treble hooks didn't stand a chance against the blues and stripers up here. Anywho keep up the good work!

Have you ever tried to use a floating stick lure? You can keep it in the strike zone for much longer by working it with small twitches or very fast if necessary. We do use them a lot down here for snook. Try some...

You should make a video on how to retrieve different lures. I'm new to lures and bought my first 3" doa shrimp golden color yesterday. I didn't know really how to retrieve so I was kinda just twisting my body a little and reeling in. I caught a 10" flounder but I'm still not sure if I'm doing it right.
@BBB_0256 жыл бұрын
after watching some videos, it looks like one good way to fish them would be similar to a bass jig or texas rigged worm where you let it sink to the bottom and then twitch your rod straight up or even to the side so it looks like a shrimp flicking its tail and shooting up or forward and then let it sink, and then repeat. Lindsay was saying another good way is to just drag it along the bottom and stir up the bottom like a shrimp looking for food. Hope this helps and good luck!

I’m going saltwater fishing Saturday and the only reel I have that is ok in salt water has braid. Is it fine to just tie the lure to straight braid? Or should I try a leader? Going for reds and trout.

Ive lived here in Florida for 4 months now and came from bass fishing into saltwater. It's mind boggling how good rubber lures work both in fresh and saltwater. I never thought such an inexpensive lure can be so effective in catching fish

Is there any particular brand of lures you use or does it not matter?
@devonbachmaier9917 жыл бұрын
Hey Lawson I fish in the Chesapeake bay for rockfish and a very popular method of fishing is light tackle jogging. The baits used are usually a Bass Candy Delight(BKD) or a bait called "bust em baits" they are dogged on a 1/2 to a 2 ounce shad head style jig head. I would be interested if you could try them I have wanted to try them elsewhere just never had a great opportunity. You can see more by looking up Shawn Kimboro on KZbin. My other favourite baits are z man diezel minnows a jerk bait and a large spoon love the vids keep it up

The spooltek, live target swimming mullet, doa shrimp, spro buck tail jig, and a good ole spook

Hello Lawson. My biggest redfish ever was actually caught on a Mirrodine. It was 28 inches long and I also caught my second biggest snook on a Mirrodine also. The snook was 24 inches. I have found out that if you rip the Mirrominnow really fast it's very good for ladyfish.
@LapolumPerry7 жыл бұрын
Hey man your videos are great and very informative. Have you ever tried using the Coolbaits underspin with your plastics? Out here on the west coast they work very well. I was wondering if you could do a video using them?
I probably sound like an idiot but I don't really know how to fish spooks and smaller swim baits. I try to "walk the dog" with my spook but I never get any bites. I also don't really know how you would fish a smaller swim bait with a light weight jig head. I try that every time I go fishing and it never works. Can somebody please tell me how you catch fish on them and how you like to fish them?
@k_werx5 жыл бұрын
DanielTooGood i myself have not mastered the spook yet either but i would say for swimbaits is it varies in retrieve speed, the smaller you go the slower you retrieve. Of course it also depends on your reel size but for a 4000 with a 1oz bucktail with a swimbait i go just a little slower than moderate, just put the lure in the water and move the rod around left and right to find the right speed for the best action

Hey I'm heading to Tampa in a week and i have never fished Florida before just wondering if you know of any good shore spots for trout, snook and redfish?
@ShortGuitarPlayer7 жыл бұрын
How do you retrieve the doa swimming mullet? I feel its too heavy to have a nice swimming presentation just on a straight retrieve.
@peteluce75287 жыл бұрын
Chance Strode try using it as you would a flair hawk on bridges or around deeper structure. A straight retrieve or small hops works well. Kills snook in the fall and winter over here on the west coast.

Hey Lawson im from South Africa and there is an awesome lure I would recommend using for jacks,snook,bluefish,tarpon and pretty much fish there is,it is called Mcarthy Paddletails it is made and sold in South Africa and pretty much everyone i know has it in their tackle box and I've seen people catch 50lb+ fish on them they are outstanding lures an you should order them and pleeeeaaaaaase make a video about them.I hope ill hear from you soon😆😆
@oscar.leon0035 жыл бұрын
1-x raps/hard kerbaits (my biggest jacks did bite a black/silver xrap) 2-spooltek (get a lot of tarpon bites but so damn hard to set the hook) 3-live target mullet (tarpon love them but they are terrible for the current, i catched my first tarpon with this) 4-gulp (maybe you are not gonna hook up a big snook with them, but since they are scented they catch a lot of fish) 5-big spoon ( i like 2 oz for throw at the beach) Could not figure out how to get a bite with the doa shrimp. And yes, i work it with very little twitches as slow as possible
