After seeing your most wanted mallet testing, I picked up a Tommy armour impact 3 putter off eBay for $45, it might be the best purchase I've ever made to improve my golf game, it feels incredibly solid and stable.

Really enjoyed that a lot. It was great to hear the subjective comments from Sam and Harry as to what they thought about the looks, feel and alignment of putters versus how they performed for them.

Thanks for a comprehensive Review Guys and it was no surprise that an Evnroll came out on top. I had a Putter fitting recently and got to try Evnroll Putters for the first time. Man they are GOOD! I was totally blown away with their performance, I don`t understand the technology , but can say with confidence that it works. I have been struggling with an old Nike Method Drone Belly Putter that I had cut down to 34.5" and fitted it with a Wynne Black Widdow grip with a counter balance weight at the top. Anything over 3ft was a struggle and I always missed right and short!! After the fitting I have an ER2 35" Putter fitted with a Forward Putter grip and counter balance in the shaft and I am holing Putts from 30ft!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My playing partners can`t believe the improvement in my Putting performance and neither can I! They are expensive, but worth every Penny!!!!!!

Before I saw this vid my research seemed to suggest a face balanced putter would work best for me so I went for a Scotty Futura 5s. It has improved my putting significantly. But still wish I'd watch this first, luckily...I got lucky

Great video once again. I really apreciate that you guys to these comprehensive tests with statistical analysis to reveal just what really works. No surprise EvnRoll won out this time. But one thing I would really want your opinion on is side saddle putting. I realize it is a hot topic since it is kind of frowned upon by the USGA after Bryson tried it. I have played golf for about 12 years, play off 4 hcp, and have putted with the same snake-eyes anser style putter for years and most of my friends agree that I was a good putter with it but then in 2016 I got a few good weeks off work where I could play a lot on a nice course where the greens were really smooth and fast and I totally lost confidence in it. I felt I was pulling and pushing off my intended line all the time so I was missing a lot of short putts that should have been right in the center of the hole. So I decided I needed a change so went on Ebay and bought a cheap hefty side saddle mallet putter just to try it out since it seemed to take pulling/pushing out of the equation. IT has a 500 gram head with no apparent tech. Just an aim line and a maximum lie angle of 81 degrees, or potentially a bit more since I am not a pro and USGA does not care about me. I practiced in the winter indoors to get the most comfortable stance, which is basically identical to this GP putter stance linked below where the putter hangs vertical from right below my chin. prdionne.com/ The results for me are staggering. Without exaggerating too much I would say I outperform anyone I play with on short putts. I feel my comfort radius around the hole has gone from 3' to at least 5' and therefore my up and down stats and 3-putt stats have improved drastically. Almost every round I play, at least one player asks me where I got this putter and it really is not the putter that is doing the magic, it is the pendulum shape of the putter swing that almost guarantees that I never hit it off my intended line. This means that I always way closer to the right line which obviously drops more putts over time. The one downside is that the toe can snag the green because of the 81 degree lie angle and I often struggle with very long putts, but then I can always just adapt the current Bryson stance and use my old built in distance control from my years of traditional style putting.I realize that this comment sounds like an advertisement but it is not. I just really feel passionately about this way of putting even though I am the only one in my club that does this until now. What I most want is to get an EvnRoll mallet head with a side saddle shat and then I can rule the world. I hope you have an open mind and a few weeks to actually test a putter with this style and then I would imagine you start to see that you cannot miss short putts anymore. If you actually want test I think the GP putter is the best since it is a short mallet so the lie angle issue is least annoying there, but I have not seen any reason to buy it since my cheap hefty putter works fine.Respect if you read the entire comment. :)

I’m on my second Scotty in a few months. I like a short putter 33” but it feels to heavy to me with the short putts on fast greens. I know you can change the weights but not sure how much difference changing the weights will make. Might have to give the Evnroll a go.

I concur. Every time that I go to get fitted for a new putter, I end up getting something completely different than what I intended. I still hate my Ping Sigma B60, but it outperforms every other putter I tried.

You guys mentioned that the top putters were best for 50%, 60% of the test group. Was the entire test group covered by these 5 putters? Also, how would the groups look if sorted by arc/stroke type? Would the top 5 for straight stroke be the same top 5 for strong arc?

Love the video content, keep it coming! Question: In the spirit of "performance is all that matters" and "looks and feel don't really matter", I actually think you shouldn't separate putters by "style" and simply put them all head-to-head and find the true best putters. For example, what performs better when you put the ER8 vs ER3?
@paulbown39606 жыл бұрын
I remember I went for a putting fitting and it was a complete waste of time and money. All they focused on was me hitting a putt about 6 foot into a hole, dead straight. Now when I test putters I test them with breaking putts. I know if I can make them then I am getting pace and line correct not just the alignment.

How hard is it to test/fit a putter yourself? I have no place close that does putter fitting? And before you suggest the iping app, I'm not an iPhone guy.
@mygolfspyvideos6 жыл бұрын
I would leave fitting to a professional. That being said if are not near a location that does putter fitting and you do not have access to any app like the iPing that can at least tell you some information about your stroke you can always use our tests. We perform these tests to find out which ones perform the best for golfers just like yourself. These putters performed as top performers for the largest percentage of golfers tested.

Great Video.. although when you say the evnroll came out on top was it specifically the #8 or evnroll in general? Also the Ping.. was it that specific "plumbers neck" hosel/slight arc? Sorry for the questions just curious! I tried to source a Tommy Armour in the UK but it's proving difficult!! Keep up the good work 👍

Bought the Tommy Armour from Golf Galaxy for $99.99 off their website. 35 in counter balanced model, doesnt have yhe blacked out shaft. Suprised to see the WINN black grip was installed so crooked looked like a drunk guy installed it. Drawbacks of buying online, doesnt matter since ill be installing a SuperStroke 2.0 Midslim Grip, cutting it down to 33 inches and flattening out the lie to 67 deg. Love the feel off the face, still doesn’t feel as good as my Evnroll ER2

I’m curious why you chose the center shafted Scotty? It seems that the traditional option would have been a more apples to apples comparison. I would be interested to see how traditional vs. center shaft options perform for the majority of golfers.

Let me come test and I will rate a Scotty Cameron poorly. I don't like them. What is funny is I already hit the Tommy Armor at Dicks and loved everything about it. It was the best one I putted with at Dicks. Nonetheless, I am very interested in the newer evnroll er5.
@golfraven56696 жыл бұрын
I kind of disagree with the statement that you should have the putter that performs best independent if you like it. To be honest, I rather have a putter that performs (even if not best) and looks for me. I will be less inclined to switch it as soon putting goes south.

Are you guys going to conduct the brand survey this year? If you are, can you add, how many new purchases were directly related to the most wanted ranking. It seems like the most wanted is more of a validation or confirmation bias to most consumers/readers. Hence why you get emotional responses, good and bad.
@mygolfspyvideos6 жыл бұрын
Andrew Han - Can you point us to what brand survey you are specifically referring to and we might be able to answer this one. Regarding the impact these have on sales there is no way to track 100% of the sales that are directly related to our testing. Meaning many people read these and go to a retail shop and purchase based on these tests. These are an example of a sale that is not trackable. However, two ways we are able to track show that these test influence multi-millions of dollars of retail sales every year and have increased multiple products sales numbers. Regarding the emotional responses that is to be expected. If our testing does not validate a purchase made by one of the 7 million readers we have a year many of those choose to take their emotions out on the place that is in their minds telling them they made a bad decision.

mygolfspy I was referring to the one word brand survey, mygolfspy.com/one-word-survey-results/ Scratch my request. I forgot it was a brand perception and not a consumer behavioral survey. Just out of curiosity, where do you get your sales figures? Do you grant public companies 10k, and do the math from there? What happen to your fitting app? Thanks for the response.
@mygolfspyvideos6 жыл бұрын
Sales figures come from tracking software and also from the OEM's reports they give us. Fitting app just finished with BETA testing.

A few discussion points; if the face tech on Evnroll's is so good, why did the ER-5 only finish 8th behind several putters with no face tech? Also, is there a reason you don't measure off proximity from the hole rather than number of putts to hole out? If a tester hits a 20 foot putt with 2 different putters, one lips out to 3 feet then misses the 3 foot putt (which all golfers do from time to time), then hits a really bad putt with the other to 8 feet but drains the 8 foot putt, doesn't that skew the data slightly? In the real world, that 3 foot putt is going to be holed out a much higher percentage of the time as that 8 foot putt, but in the testing those 2 strokes show a vastly different result. Would proximity to the hole, especially on the longer putts, be a much better way to tell how good a putter is than number of putts to hole out? Lastly, each putter tested has a different style of grip - surely that has to be a huge factor on the results? It would be interesting to see results using a standardised grip, and a second test comparing a standardised putter with different grips.
@bradleysmith72816 жыл бұрын
Your last suggestion of a putter test with the same grip on multiple top putters and then a grip test with different grips on a single top putter is a very interesting idea. Brad
