I've just got the hero 5, had the hero 2 & 3+ black,, what I'm wondering is, if I set my photo setting to the same as yours, except Flat,, chose GoPro, when I check my photo, if I don't like it, couldn't I just edit my raw file? I'm more a photographer than video guy. Also can you do a video, with setting for video,, what I mean is,, I video at 1080p at 60fps, when I edit it in studio its fine, but when I add it to power director it says this is not your default settings, do I change my default to 60fps, at the moment I have it set at 24fps,, it's all so confusing lol,,,, great video, very clear and easy to understand

allany2000 it lets more light in the Sensor so you can better Photograph the Stars or whatever

Thanks for doing these videos, your tips are very helpful. I've noticed once I change the color profile to flat, it only affects the jpeg taken simultaneously with the raw file, so I'm not sure that particular setting matters.

Great Video, I'm facing some problems with my Gopro hero 5 camera and I'm wondering if others facing the same problems! 1- Some times the camera hang and won't be able to turn off the camera or do any function. 2- While recording in Time labse mode, the timer so slow and not same as the actual time. 3- The voice control in the camera not 100% correct, form example if i say Gopro stop recording the cam will start to record. Please share your experience.

I'd like to see what this camera can do in close quarters. I noticed the wood-grain of the bench didn't look to bad at 6 inches or so, but how close can you get? And are there " Zoom " settings? Telephoto, macro and micro?

I have a photo specific video, however, I'd set shutter speed for photos to at least 1/200. If capturing action, go up from there.

Hi! I just want to know if there is any way you can manually control the shutter speed on this camera, just like you would on a DSLR. Also, if I understand correctly, you could lock in a specific ISO setting if you choose the same value for min and for max, but is there any way of simply choosing the desired value with each photo (without having to change two settings)? As I already think I know the answer to the above will be 'no', could you tell me what are the extremes for shutter speed that the camera manages? Supposing you use the maximum ISO in bright daylight, how short can the exposure get? What if you choose ISO 100 in a dark room? And finally, if GoPro does not allow this DSLR type of approach to manual photography, do you know of any firmware hacks that unlock the ability to manually set up exposure? Thanks!

Good tutorial I would like to add some that you may want to mention, after I format my sim card I use my computer to add an extra folder on it witch includes my information, name, address, phone number and email just in case I lose it.

I've read a user's statement: "GoPro Hero 5 Black can't record and charge battery at the same time. Charging will stop when you start recording".You have tested it. It's true? If you have an external battery connected (in the car) and the internal battery is drain, discharged, GoPro Hero 5 Black can record, or you must wait to charge internal battery? How do I get the raw photos from my GoPro to my phone? I think whenever I transfer my pictures to my phone, it just transfers the JPEG and not the raw. Please help :(

GoPro takes a strange format of RAW files. They have extension of GPR. I can't open them in my Capture One Pro 10, the photo editing software that I use for my Canon 80D, it's RAW files have normal CR2 extension. This renders RAW files of GoPro unusable to me
