Just a quick FYI, because this video gets a lot of these comments: This video, as if the upload date didn't make it obvious, was uploaded on July 6th 2016. Serena's goodbye in the anime first aired in Japan on October 27th 2016. That's why Serena's goodbye is not in this video; because this video was uploaded three, almost four, months before that episode aired. Hope this clears up any confusion some of you seem to have.

I cried when I first watched "Memories Are Made of Bliss." As the DP series was my favorite, growing up with Generation 4, Dawn being my favorite female companion of Ash (at the time), and the main Pokemon such as Infernape, Piplup, Croagunk, etc., I was extremely sad to see the Sinnoh saga come to an end. I actually thought Dawn was going to go to Kanto with Ash and Brock, like May did, but like you said Liam, that modeling for Buneary excuse was pretty lame. I still hope to this day for Dawn and Brock to make at least a cameo of some sort in the anime, but I may be asking for too much there.

Dawn was my saddest because DP was the series I began watching. There was a spark that is no longer there when I rewatch it, but I remember seeing the starters in the anime and thought they were so cool. I tried to watch Gotta Catch Ya Later as an adult and I can't. It was just as depressing as the episode we thought Ash was going to leave Pikachu. It hit me when I saw Misty's bike get returned. That's when the feels started. Misty and Brock were his best companions, bar none. They all grew together and had a bond. Thank goodness for Brock coming back in Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Alola.

Rahi Ayala Brock will be back as a traveling companion, but Misty won't. And there is a theory that Serena might travel with Ash to the Alola region. But we can't be to sure if Brock will come back, it's the developers/creators choice, many fans want him back, but the creators can't decide, if they don't bring Brock back, they will loose a lot of fans, though.

I think Iris and Cilan were the hardest goodbye for me because the Black And White anime was what got me into Pokémon in the first place. Iris and Cilan were both lovable characters in my eyes and I still watch the B&W anime all the time (whenever it comes up on Pokémon TV…). I think the fact that they didn’t show much emotion made it worse for me because it sort of felt like it wasn’t complete, but it also felt like they weren’t sad because they knew they’d meet again someday and they should be happy and look forward to that. Still, I love them and the Pokémon they and Ash used in that series.

The goodbyes that made me cry: 1. "Gotta Catch Ya Later" I cried the whole night after that episode and omg that track in the background. 2. "Memories are made of Bliss" Especially when Piplup tried to run away and then that little sad emotional track in the English version when Dawn was saying goodbye. 3. When May and Max left for the final time. So emotional... Extra note: Why y'all saying Serena, Clemont, Bonnie's one was sad? Dedenne crying and running away was legit a rip-off of Piplup, except Piplup's one was more emotional. Ash didn't even say goodbye to Clemont and Bonnie, they just left on that plane! And Serena! How was her goodbye sad? Any NORMAL person cried then? Only butt-hurt kids cried because "Ash and Serena weren't considered officially a couple"

I cried when ash and Brock had to say goodbye to dawn. That really broke my heart. The hi five and dawn tears in her eye. Then ash say something like don’t worry was sad and happiness at the some time. Also dawn Pokémon pipluilp and ash Pokémon Pikura hug each other and at say some few words. It show much they grew as well. This definitely made me miss Pokémon diamond and pearl.

On a side note I liked Iris more than some of Ash's companions. With the other females (excluding Misty) they always had the same goal - enter one of those Pokémon coordinator/fashion shows but Iris was different. She wanted to become a Dragon Master. It was a welcoming change....then with Serina it went back to the female companions doing something people might call "girly".

yeah but one of the flaws with iris (other then her personality) is that she didn't really achief her goal and it was really vague, i mean until the end of the show she only had 2 dragon pokemons one was still a baby to, and 2 of a other type (yeah she got gible later, but still) While with Serena, Dawn and May they all had a clear goal and you could see them grow in it, even with Misty who's goal was also kinda vague how she would achief it you could atleast see that her team expanded and became way stronger

Dawn contemplating on going to Kanto with Ash and Brock just proves she really was the best travelling companion, along with Brock of course. Those 3 were the best, and Pikachu and Piplup’a friendship was not like any other Pokemon friendships in the franchise. I doubt we’ll be getting a Ash, Brock and Dawn reunion any time soon, but I hope we can at least have Dawn back. We haven’t seen her since Black and White now.

Imo, even though the goodbye with Brock and Misty was sad, since Ash's home region is still Kanto, and he returns to Kanto each time after traveling other regions, his chances of meeting Brock and Misty again are much higher compared to other companions, since they reside in Kanto, and mostly stay in Kanto(Misty being the Cerulean Gym leader and Brock taking care of his siblings, though he sometimes travels abroad for his Doctor studies). This is why goodbyes with companions from Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, and eventually Alola, are more sadder in my book. Not to mention the fact that those companions are also traveling in various different regions.
