Lord Jesus, you know that of myself I can do nothing without you. Father please give me strength. These past three years have been difficult on me I am weak. Please give me strength. At times I feel so alone especially as a single mom. Since suffering a heart attack two years ago and my on going battle with lupus I’m overwhelmed and discouraged. I’m still struggling to support my children and myself. Being a single mom is challenging. Especially because both of my sons are autistic and now that I’m homeschooling them my hours to work are limited. But even as I struggle to pay rent and I struggle to buy groceries. I KEEP FAITH! Lord please protect me and my sons from homelessness. Amen.

You can to go to your Local Fire Department, Police Department or Homeless Shelter and ask them if they can help connect you with the appropriate organizations that can help you and assist you and your children. They can give you information about where you can go to find support to help you while you struggle to raise your Children while dealing with your health issues and connection you to Non profit Organizations and Churches in your area that would be eager to help you and your children towards upward mobility.🙏🙏🙏😊

This was really good. In Australia in my area we dont have nationalism or so much progressive churches. But we are injected with motivational and topical that takes the bible out of context. And it is like church for addicts. Ive been to two churches that would make me cry and not a good cry. Mourning crying. Condemnation crying. Like somthing was wrong with me and i was a goat in a room of spirit filled sheep. Im so glad i got away from that but my friends still go to those churches. Its really sad, because they are lovely people but i cant have a theological discussion with out seeing those teachings seep out of them that are not biblical. Esp around the self, healing, experience motivated, church being free therapy ect.

Awesome conversation. There are many "New Agers" who have a conservative values. Also many libertarians are in the group, who don't believe in Biblical morality. You are right, it is a good idea to have discernment and the pastors have not taught their congregations very well, in fact they tend to ignore the culture. I have found, however, many are open to the gospel. Lastly, Rush actually became a Christian later in his life.

When Iceland converted officially to Christianity in 1000AD as the main religion the Nordic pagans negotiated for three easements one of which was to get to continue evicting infants, i.e. leaving then to die out in nature or drowning in the ocean, lake or a river. Which indicates quite clearly the default position of the church in those days.

Maybe a little bit off of the topic being discussed but, I've recently come out of the NAR, word of faith, prosperity etc movement. I've got my own story to tell. A question that I would like to be answered is; What is the role of the elder in these movements? What is the true role of an elder? For me the Bible is very clear about this. The question was asjed in my former church abd tge answer was;"We have moved on, we are not in that dispensation anymore. We refer to it as 'the leadership'".

1 pastor who preaches and shepherds the flock and has the responsibility of keeping the flock biblically sound Elders are spiritual leaders and guides within the church. May lead prayers and help pass out communion, will keep the pastor in line. May fill in for the pastor if there is not a back up pastor, there should only be one back up pastor, these churches with several "pastors" often have poor leadership and weak teaching theologically. Deacons are the young men who care for the church grounds and do the many tasks of the church on sundays.

Topical Preaching - good discussion. I ran through my many years from agnosticism-to-spiritual-to-Christian...many different "versions" of Christian...eventually walking me into the Catholic Church. One thing I appreciate about the Catholic design of preaching...it is couched in an Overall Guide to preaching based on the fullness of the Biblical scriptures - OT and NT - as discussed by our priests in a 3-year schedule. In my earlier Protestant years, I witnessed the danger of giving so much power to pastors, allowing them to choose their focus of all preaching...thus...focusing on their favorite scriptures...and ignoring others.
@P-zz2pw29 күн бұрын
The ‘fullness of Biblical Scriptures’ tell you the priesthood (as in the OT) was finished at Calvary. Jesus cried out, ‘It is finished!’ on the Cross. There is no more ‘sacrifice.’ There is no more altar. An animal would be sacrificed on the altar for sin. Roms 12:1-2, we are all living sacrifices now. We are all priests and kings to God now offering spiritual sacrifices. Read Heb 7,8,9,10 and 1 Tim 1:1-4. The apostles were married. God enforces celibacy on no one. Some may be called to be celibate but that is NOT a Biblical requirement to serve ‘as a priest.’ Even OT priests were married. The ‘doctrine of Mary’ is NOT Biblical. The mass is NOT Biblical. The pope is not Biblical. The Church was not founded on Peter but on the Holy Spirit. Just because there may be lots of things wrong in ‘the Church’ does not mean that Roman Catholicism is ‘right.’ It isn’t. We’re to get to Christ - to God through Christ - Christ alone. Jesus said, ‘My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me.’ Not a denomination, not a creed, nothing but Jesus. Christ will one day separate the sheep from the goats - that’s Christ’s view of His Church: His sheep who know the voice of the shepherd and who follow Him, and whom the Shepherd knows.

Very good video. Something about church history though: Our general church history curriculum is completely western-centric. It does not cover Orthodox or Coptic church history - churches still in existence - nor does it cover church history east of the Euphrates, of which very little of the story still exists due to those churches phasing out between ancient Gospel preaching and modern religion takeovers. This gives us an inflated view of the Reformation, and the importance of the Reformation, and hurts us when we think about so many modern conversions to Christ that are completely removed from the context of the Catholic and Protestant churches. For instance, there are Muslim background believers and Hindu background believers and folks from animistic tribes who are today coming to Christ through means that are unrelated to the Reformation and Catholic church traditions and lines of Gospel transmission. It makes people hard to figure out what God is doing among them when our only framework is what has happened in Europe. There is a lot of value for westerners in seeing how church history and Christian history shaped our culture, but Christianity is much bigger than just western culture and what God is doing in cultures similar to ours. I think a more valuable history to look at as modern globally minded Christians is the history of Israel and what we read about in the Scriptures. We need to make better sense of the history and historical context that the Bible is telling us about, and not so much of western culture history since the book of Acts story left off. Also, looking at western Christianity, we get a lot of ideas from Christians around the Mediterranean who were from Gentile backgrounds and who grew up with pagan worldviews prior to their conversions, and this leads to a lot of deviations and distractions from the biblical story. In some ways, it is not much more helpful to listen to Augustine, for instance, than it would be to listen to a modern convert from Papua New Guinea who tried to make sense of the Bible without the Jewish background and without biblical studies about the ancient contexts of the Scriptures. People like Augustine did the best they could given their background knowledge and lens of interpretation, but they can't hold a candle to someone like the Apostle Paul or James who knew the Old Testament and lived in a Jewish mindset prior to conversion.

JESUS SAVES God the Son (Jesus Christ) has given us the gospel to share with the world. Mark 16:15: "And He said unto them, Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." How can we hear it? Scripture tells us. Romans 10:17 "Then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (We receive the "word" in many ways. The "Word" is Jesus Christ!); John 1:1-5. God the Holy Spirit teaches through the Word of God in the Bible. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3: 23 " For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23 "1 Corinthians 15: 3 "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" BY GOD'S GRACE ALONE THROUGH FAITH ALONE IN JESUS CHRIST ARE WE SAVED Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 not of works, lest any man should boast." Jesus died and paid the penalty for our sins to rescue us from eternal death. He died on our behalf. We believe in Him, trusting His death and shedding of His blood as payment for ALL our sins and His burial and resurrection from the dead the third day! John 20:24-31; 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4 above. WHOSOEVER BELIEVES SHALL TESTIFY TO THE TRUTH Romans 10: 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” TO DIE IS TO REJECT SALVATION IN JESUS CHRIST AND BE SEPARATE FROM GOD FOREVERMORE Salvation and forgiveness of sins is the blessing of anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We receive the baptism of God the Holy Spirit immediately which seals us in Christ and that is permanent! Ephesians 1:13-14. Those who reject the free gift of salvation, see John 3:16 above, "perish", which means their sins are judged by God the Son and they suffer eternal separation from God and the family of God forever called the "second death". Revelation 21:8.

You have given great insight on what to watch for in sermons. Wonder if you would counsider bibical teachings that are on you tube. In particularly David Nikao Wilcoxson. He decodes the olivet discourse, decodes revelation, decodes Daniels 70th week. I know someone who is all on board with him. Not sure of him. Thank you for your time you put into sharing concerns with our world today and christianity. God bless you.

If you want to learn how to study the scripture so that you can scrutinize bible teaching/preaching for yourself then highly reccomend Dr. Micheal Heiser, his Naked Bible podcast (listen from the beginning though) and his courses on logos bible software as well as his website DRMSH. He is a scholar who had a heart to bring scholarly level biblical understanding to the people in the pews so that we don't just have to take the preachers word for it. The problem with western preaching is that the average person has become dependent on preachers for bublical teaching and preachers often aren't explaining how they arrive at their conclusions or applications. All preachers appeal to emotion in some way regardless of whether they are exegeting the scripture or not, when they haven't taken the time to teach people how to think and instead are just telling them what to think. This sort of preaching has been rampant in the west for decades and did not start with progressive Christianity.

My values are conservative but I feel uncomfortable in Conservative political spaces (I'm a black female btw). I too watch the Daily Wire but would often feel guilt that I didn't really agree with quite a lot of their stances. Though there are people there like Amala Ekpunobi, Candace Owens they frankly came across as mild white nationalists especially Owens who purports to be a Christian. But what really opened my eyes to the Conservative & 'true' Christian divide was the said Candace Owens interviewing the self confessed fornicator Andrew Tate & lauding him & finding nothing wrong with his lifestyle, instead praising him. But at the same time she has platformed women on Only Fans & criticised them for their way of making a living when they are in the same industry as Tate. We need to beware of a moralistic Christless Conservative line that lures us into a false sense of security. It's Jesus we must look to for our values as Christians not Conservatives.

As far as deliverance, my feeling is that Jesus said 'these signs will follow those that believe', and that included casting out demons. Theoretically any believer can call on the name of Jesus to cast out a demon, so there shouldn't be any precedent for deliverance ministry. If Christians are faithful, God will equip them to deal with these things when they need to.

The issue with ‘deliverance ministries’ is their belief a Spirit - Filled Believer can have a demon. That is not possible and grossly misrepresents the work of the cross, among other basic tenets of the Christian faith
@wordsofjames Жыл бұрын
@@toolegittoquit_001 that is a gross generalization. Most believe Spirit filled believers can be tormented and have a demon attached to them, which is accurate. They do not believe that a Spirit filled believer can be possessed.

A demon manifested in a lady at our church and because nobody knew what to do (or even that it was a demon), nobody did anything. So I don’t believe it’s as simple as you stated. Many people don’t believe we have those problems in churches and they are n denial and have no idea what to do. Training/teaching is needed (at least the very basics.)

I DO want to make a “personal” point….the Gospel, presented accurately, and simply, is just to be BELIEVED. The Creeds are, in my view, indicative of a more committed, knowledgeable, every-day, “walk with Jesus Christ” that we are GROWING in, day by day, into continuing ETERNITY. My 2 cents.

Hi, really sorry, a question please: I could not understand the term of what kind of a preacher took over the church where Michael was youth pastor? "His teaching was different to the John McArthur type preaching..." I also could not understand what is written on his cap, all I heard "is over x Jesus?" I am English and older, so when one important word is pronounced very fast I sadly don't get it. Would really appreciate it if someone could enlighten me. Many thanks!
@lindacowles756 Жыл бұрын
G'day, Telsamace! I will try to answer your questions as best as I can. To address your first question, the preacher was a Steven Furtick-style pastor, meaning he talks quite a lot about the perceived needs of the members of his congregation and how selected Bible verses apply to those needs. It's very focused on people, or man-centered, v. God-centered. These types of pastors commonly present a contemporary, youthful image in an attempt to attract younger people to the church. Secondly, the cap says, "Exegesis over eisegesis", meaning that one should preach and teach correct Biblical interpretations with, again, the emphasis on God, Who He is, and what He's done. Eisegesis is the insertion of oneself into the Biblical account or passage, for example, putting yourself in the place of David fighting Goliath, Goliath being the problems or challenges in your life. I hope that this helps.

I have to comment on Christians and conservatism. The assertion that many Christians believe conservatism and Christianity are one and the same, almost interchangeable, is a straw man. I’ve heard this assertion on Alissa’s program before. I don’t know anyone who believes that or teaches that. Of course you can always find an obscure group of people who believe crazy things. But it’s not common. As a Christian who is also conservative my political beliefs come out of my biblical beliefs. And yes, I find myself disagreeing with secular conservatives. At times they are too liberal when it comes to social values.

Can you explain how Trump garnered 80 percent of the evangelical vote when he and is the opposite morals and life that they purport to believe in? You don't know anyone who teaches or believes that conservatism and Christianity are one and the same? Really? All you need to do is listen a little to any popular conservative pastors and how they shame progressives and liberals.

You said Alisa “God is not male or female “. I was shocked to hear you say this casually. I’ve always said the first and last fundamental flaw in either doctrine (orthodoxy) or practice (orthopraxy) is this: “If you reason from man to God you always come up with a man made God. But if you reason from God as he is revealed in the scriptures you have truth. So ask yourself how did Jesus teach us to pray the Lord’s Prayer but Our Father. How did God reveal to us what He looked like but in His Son Jesus…fully God and fully man. There are so many more implications about the doctrine of God this implies but please don’t buy into the culture of confusion about who God is.

I’m part of a deliverance ministry and agree that the drama and shake-and bake stuff is unnecessary. Unfortunately deliverance focused ministries are necessary because of the rise of the demonic in our culture and because too few ministries choose to embrace deliverance as a ministry tool.

I am a conservative. Have always been... even as a child, even surrounded by social democrats or center right family. But I am first and foremost a Christian. I grew up in a Catholic family and country, and early on I learned the pitfalls of calvinism and Lutheranism. Slowly I started moving away from the Catholic Church. I deeply abhor Wokeness. I deepky abhor "progressive Christians" (ie, false Christians). I understand thev rise of nationalistic Christians as a reaction to the violence and persecution by Wokeness and progressive Christians, but I don't recognise anything other than Jesus, the Bible as the true authority for following the Word of Jesus. No pastor, priest, "apostle" is more valuable, truthful than the the Bible and what Jesus taught us. Period.

@269theflashgaming2 let me elaborate further on what I'm saying it seems to me that their preference for how they receive the word of God is getting in the way of learning what was said in a sermon. Instead of focusing on the method or delivery, they should be focusing on the theology to see what they are teaching is correct. Does that answer your question?
@valerieferris2646 Жыл бұрын
Perhaps Michael moore could edify the church instead of labeling people as “bad” pastors or “unbiblical” - a lot of his reviews come from a place of church hurt and preferences (that are not biblical). I 💯 think leaders need to be accountable and held to a higher standard, but this isn’t coming from the spirit of truth.
@christinedarr6754 Жыл бұрын
I can so relate. Churches are just full of sinners needing grace and so many act as though they aren’t. They don’t show it, they treat it like a country club, etc. there are so many many issues that exist. Satan loves that.

Regarding Christian Nationalism: I'd like to hear Michael explain a little more about the idea of bottom up vs top down Christianity in a nation or society. The idea that top down is just obviously not Biblical seems a little problematic to me; there's a lot to be said about top down Christianity in a society. The whole Biblical concept of Israel reflects a very top down society. The laws in every nation are rooted in a morality that is not based on democratic agreement, and largely rooted in Biblical morality. I don't think the millennial reign of Christ will be developed through a bottom up grass roots marketing campaign.
@debrahoffman2128 Жыл бұрын
Israel actually rejected that God-ordained model in favor of a secular king, "that we also may be like all the nations." I Samuel 8:4-18. Ironic, isn't it? No, it wasn't God's plan, yet God permitted it - classic "be careful what you wish for". There has always existed a tension between moral authority and civil authority, and trying to conflate them will always be problematic. It is problematic because a willful, sin-sick society is incapable of recognizing the ultimate sovereignty of God, and ultimately that sort of insight must come from a knowledge of God - not from government, and certainly not from coercive government. John 18:36. The millennial reign of Christ is the ONE exception, because it's, well... Christ.
@russmaples5351 Жыл бұрын
@@debrahoffman2128 I appreciate you pointing out the exception in the millennial reign. But what about Moses and Joshua. The people demanded a king, but it seems like the prophet at the top in government was God's program. Very top down.
@debrahoffman2128 Жыл бұрын
@@russmaples5351 But by the time of Christ, the more politically powerful Roman authority superceded both the Jewish civil and religious authority. Yet it was that very Jewish authority that betrayed Christ. As travel and communication expands and modern societies develop, don't they inevitably become more culturally diverse? Even the modern state of Israel. In my opinion, until Jesus returns, the best we can hope for is not so much a national, monolithic religious affiliation, but simply a just government that does not harass or unduly interfere with the faith community.
@russmaples5351 Жыл бұрын
@debrahoffman2128 And democracy consistently fails morally, economically, etc. The majority does not tend to be moral and righteous. So the bottom up model certainly needs an explanation for its defense.
@debrahoffman2128 Жыл бұрын
@@russmaples5351 a healthy democracy does not preclude Christians who also happen to be responsible citizens. It shouldn't mean that evangelicals have to control every level of government and run it like a mega church. I believe we are called to be "salt and light" not theocrats, at least not in this dispensation. It's "hearts and minds" time... starting with our own.
