It’s an unfortunate reality. I’m excited for my next bike and the ability to make it my own!

I tested this bike about six weeks ago and loved it. Very smooth power delivery for a parallel twin and more power than I was expecting. Handled beautifully and looked great in the Grand Prix red livery. The test bike had a bubble screen fitted by the dealership which dealt with the wind blast pretty well. In the end I ordered the Kawasaki Ninja 650 because it had a bit more power, could be fitted with touring accessories and had a fab TFT screen. I would certainly recommend it if you are looking for something with more power that won't break the bank.

That's awesome man! Haven't looked into Ninja's a whole lot. However, I was looking at the Ninja 400 when I ultimately decided on the 500r.

@@TheTommyGun will definitely give send you a message. My very first bike about 14 years ago was a Honda CBR 600RR. Now that I’m almost 50 I prefer lower displacement bikes. I have a Honda Rebel 300, completely modded out. No one knows what it is. Absolutely love it. In town bobbing. A 2020 Indian scout bobber. A 2017 Ducati 797. And the BMW GS, that I’m trading in for this new cbr 500.

I really like the rebel 300/500! Definetly would be a neat bike to toy around on. Sounds like you got a pretty neat arsenal of bikes where the 500r will be a neat addition!

@@TheTommyGun got possession of the bike this afternoon. Took it out for a quick rip. Break in the tires and get a feel for the bike. Extremely easy bike to ride. Clutch is SUPER light. Gear changes are slick. Brakes could be better. But maybe just needs to be broken in. Riding position is very comfortable. Enough power to get you out of trouble and push the bike. And not too much power that could get you into trouble. The looks are to die for!!!! That black and red combo is GORGEOUS

I love it! Incredibly accurate description, I’m glad you’re enjoying it! Black and red is the way to go 😎

wats up Tommy, new sub here. I own a ZX6R 2020 and although i love it i recently bought a 2021 CBR500R in pearl white and will admit your reviews and content did help in my decision. My ZX6R is fast and my dream bike BUT at 55 yrs old it gets tiring leaned over in a fetal position for most of my riding, highway riding is relaxed as the wind holds me up off the bars alittle. I remember having a Ninja 400 and was laughing and having a blast just holding it wide open and shifting up and down the gears from light to light. It was a blast. After selling it and getting my dream bike i missed those days. So i wanted and bought a twin just so i can have fun again. You only use up to 50-60% of a supersport, well without getting too wild, with the smaller cc bikes i feel you can have more fun and also learn to perfect your techniques you need for the big toys or as my ex-gf use to say.....money pit. ZX6R is nice but the cost of ownership is 3 to 4 times more than the sport bikes. Keep up the great content Tommy and thanks for doing what you do !!! 🏍🍺 sorry for the edit but i agree about the mods for the 500r as there are very little but with some research and compromise you can do more than it looks. Also the aftermarket knows this bike is that good and can't seem to make things to make it better !!! Save the money for your dream bike then mod it the way you want.

Hey Eugene, Thanks for such kind words! I’m glad you’re enjoying your CBR. I definetly can see the wants for both of them as id love to keep my CBR when I get my dream bike. But only time will tell.. thanks for the sub, and cheers 🍻

You mentioned wanting more power delivery. I noticed you are pretty quick to get to 6th gear. The 500 can easily do 60 in 4th gear and will provide that power a lot quicker in 4th gear where the power band is. Ive noticed the majority of delivery is in 3rd and 4th gear and then it comes back in 6th around 85mph or so
@TheTommyGun3 жыл бұрын
That’s a super fair assessment of my riding! Definetly could experiment more with the powerband and what gear I’m in. Thanks homie!

Watching lots of different bike videos, I have noticed that everyone moans about the seat so even changing your bike migh not fix that. As for slow accel from 60 I just drop a gear and she goes ell enough, you would get that problem on a 600rr.
@TheTommyGun3 жыл бұрын
I feel that. Definetly was nit-picky with the things I dislike.. overall love the bike!

I can definitely attest to the seat being comfortable up until a point...I've done 600+km in a day and felt absolutely defeated at the end of the ride haha. I had to get an air hawk seat pad and noticed I can get almost an extra hour worth of comfort.
@TheTommyGun4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I definitely need to look into getting a seat pad of some sort.. However, I've noticed just taking more frequent breaks helps a TON!

I got the exact same windscreen and I also noticed a difference lol. Kinda weird that Honda didn't think the aerodynamics through very much.

Hey man, new subscriber here. I just got my permit a couple of months ago and I've been doing research on which bike to purchase after I take my MSF course in May 2021. Was the cbr500r your first bike? Did you have any experience riding on 2wheels(excluding a bicycle lol)? Besides riding a bicycle, I've never ridden a motorcycle and I'm lowkey scared that if I get a bigger cc beginner bike, I'll have a harder time learning how to corner and lean and perform basic low-speed maneuvering stuff. What suggestions do you have for me and am I thinking too much lol?
@TheTommyGun3 жыл бұрын
Welcome Leonard! The CBR was indeed my first bike. I had no previous experience on motorcycles, only the MSF course I took prior to my purchase! I think the 500r was a perfect fit for a beginner bike. It’s fairy light and has some gitty up to it. I’ve riden some bigger bikes, and definetly recommend the CBR for a starter! Some of the bigger bikes can feel stiff, so learning the basics on a CBR will make you a fundamentally better rider in my opinion.

@@TheTommyGun Thanks for the insight man, appreciate it. I’ve just heard that the CBR500R is a heavy bike for beginners from all the mainstream motorcycle channels but it’s good to know that’s it’s not that heavy
I bought it and Englehart Motorsports in Madison, Wisconsin in February!

Actually? That’s hilarious. When did you buy yours?
@DaneRuberto15174 жыл бұрын
Drop a tooth on the front sprocket, it will give it much faster "get up and go." Done that on all my bikes so far, makes a massive difference, is cheap, and you can keep the stock chain
@dantheman48613 жыл бұрын
Hey man I’m new to motorcycles and the terminology. What exactly does drop a tooth on the front sprocket mean lol?
@stevedota77234 жыл бұрын
Hey man love the vids :) Do you know how long you'll ride this year? It could very well be my beginner rider enthusiasm but right now I don't plan on putting my cbr to sleep over winter :D. I feel like as long as its not really stormy outside I would always enjoy riding and especially here in germany where winters really dont last as long anymore. Let me know how you feel ^^

I plan on pretty much riding until the snow flies! Unfortunately with all the snow, ice, and salt in the roads that’s when I’ll put her into hibernation.. :(
