I'm a minimalist kind of guy. The lack of gaudy colors and stitching is one of my top likes, not dislikes. That's why I like the leather interior. If you get the cloth seats in the Pro 4X it comes with red stitching and red highlights in the doors of the truck. I drove one and the seat height is fine for 5'11". I like a mid-size truck because they are so much better off road than a full size. They also fit in my garage.

I like the how simple they made this truck I like the interior muted the way they did it. I have had mine for 3 months and my biggest gripe is the turning radius.

Amen to the garage. I have gone through too many vehicles. I sold off my Tacoma because I took it to a speed shop and they put RV tires on it that pretty much ruined it. I left it to the experience of the sales department to choose the size, not knowing how destructive oversized wheels and tires could be. I went from the Tacoma to an F150 with a V8 plus a lot of bells and whistles, but when I closed the garage door there wasn't much more than a couple inches to spare on either end. The 2019 Frontier literally gave me over a foot clearance. I am a minimalist too, but I missed the GPS feature from the F150, and the '19 Frontier was not equipped to handle any electronic accessories, but it was still a great truck. Myu problem, being in a West Texas town has always been selection. I took my '19 last week for its routine service and they just brought in two red( I call it candy apple red) '22 Frontier King Cab SV's. One was a 4x4, now it is in my garage. It is so seldom you see a vehicle in an attractive color, and it was a king cab as well, that I jumped on it. I have to say, that 9 speed Mercedes inspired transmission is another story completely. At first it felt weird, but I have to get into traffic quick during certain times of day because of the rush. I got on it with that 9 speed and it is very smooth. The '19 worked a whole lot hard and was slightly slower. That '22 felt like it was just gliding, no jerking.. I am sort of a minimalist. My first truck was a King Cab XE V6 back in '87, it was known as a "Nissan Hard Body" back then. I think you have to be a bit of a minimalist to go for the smaller Nissan. Back in '07, I ended up with a Tacoma because Toyota was having problems moving vehicles over the scandal with the sticking accelerator pedal, which they repaired in time, so they gave me terms. I would have preferred the Nissan which I test drove first. The local Nissan dealer where I was at the time would not talk terms. The Tacoma gave me 8 good years, except for the dealer installed remote starter which ate three batteries.

6’3 all torso and I fit fine in mine. I prefer all blacked out interior. Colors don’t age well. Seems like something a young adult would prefer though and I get it. Truck feels like it’s built like a mini tank. Love the heavier hydraulic power steering and the motor without turbos and batteries.

I'm a little disappointed in your dislike #3. As a "truck guy" you should know that tires don't go straight up and down. They tilt as they articulate. The stock tires don't rub the fender trim when flexing. TFL did an off road review showing it articulating. Putting larger tires on this truck would probably require a lift though.

Most people put slightly wider and bigger wheels. This is a pro4x model, so obviously, people are going to want to mod it. It's probably an easy fix, but it's still a valid point.

If youre going to be putting larger tires then you should know that it will impact the rest of the truck in many ways and likely should expect to do modifications as needed, like a lift kit, and even differential gears at some point.

I have had my 2022 sv for a xouple months now and i have found it to be quite capable. I am averaging 21-22 mpg very consistently. And find it is not lacking in the power dept. Good rig for under 39k and comfortable to drive. The only thing that i was suprised was how heavy the steering felt at first. I don’t really think that’s true anymore. I drove full size trucks in urban environments for years and never had any issue, especially with the newer ones. I won’t argue a mid size isn’t easier, but there’s no issues driving and parking a half ton in a city. You might just need more seat time in one.

Nissan does offer orange stitching on some pro 4x models, seats , steering wheel and shifter and possibly on the dash, as far as wheel clearance, most people will either get a leveling kit or a 2 inch lift which will give you plenty room for bigger tires and clearance

I’m a 6-month Pro-4x owner. My likes are the ride, Fender stereo, there’s not 6 million on the road, low end torque, styling, simplicity. The bad are cruise control. It’s super poorly calibrated, hits 5500rpm to gain 4 mph or even on a slight incline. The leather. Don’t bother getting it. It’s 95% rubbery vinyl with tiny butt and lower back patches. It’s sticky when it’s hot, and there is no cooling feature. The defrost is LOUD on anything but the lowest two settings. The seat may work well for some, but it’s “front hinged”, meaning it does NOT rise at the front when you try to raise the seat, only the back. If it doesn’t provide enough thigh support if you have long calves when you test drive it, it never will. The back of my 2019 Tacoma had more room in the back, and had a less upright seating position. Otherwise super nice truck……

Bought a new King Cab SV 4x4 this past week. Already getting 23 MPG around town. You forgot to mention that Nissan got rid of the gutless 4 cylinder engine. They put the 6 in all their Frontiers now. I owned and drove a 2007 Tacoma 4x4 King Cab for 8 years, there are no doubt some improvements like the Mercedes inspired 9 speed transmission. Otherwise driving a Frontier is so similar to a Tacoma, I almost couldn't tell the difference. You road tested a Pro 4X, it obviously has more bells and whistles for Off Road use. I traded a 2019 Frontier SV 4x4 in for the 2022 with the same package, and the first thing I noticed was ground clearance. The 2022 seemed to have quite a bit more ground clearance. I am having the rails installed to help a little. I had the rails on the 2019, but did not need them,. The rails were a cosmetic upgrade on the 2019, on the 2022 for a shorter person they are necessary. You also forgot to mention that Nissan has done away with the chrome. The only thing that appears to be chrome are the fake chrome cheesy looking factory wheels that come on the SV. In the 2019 the electronics package was way behind the times. The electronics in the 2022 are a vast improvement. I don't know why you think the tires will rub on the back, unless you made it happen. The suspension, even on the SV, is very stiff.

I can definitely see where you are coming from. As someone who spends waaaaay too many hours in a bunch of different brands of pickups for work. I find some of their interiors are way too bright with all of the switches and dials and screens. After 10+ hours I find some of them really tire out my eyes with all the light shining at me. Especially up here in northern Canada your commute for a large part of the year is in complete darkness. I would like to just have a dimmer toggle but I find the orange color and the slightly dimmer light to be a nice change.

Well, it is best to look at all the midsize trucks in person at all these things before you buy. The Ford Ranger has a 4 cylinder so it should have better milage, as for fancy interior details this is a truck not a BMW . My brother bought this Nissan Frontier crew cab in blue and is picking it up this week April 2022. We both took a test drive in it and looked it over and we see no problems it is just a good all around truck. The hydraulic steering is great old school and more reliable than electronic glad to see Nissan put that in the engine. For what we need this truck will do the job just fine and will be better off road trails in narrow tight spots unlike full size trucks here in Colorado. We do not need a full size truck harder to park in spaces and just too big the midsize are just right and this Nissan was the pick over the other makers for price and features.

I have had 2 frontiers and had hardly any issues with either one , I had a 2012 sv king cab 4x4 and a 2018 sv king cab 4x4 and I am currently looking at another, one thing I noticed was ,I use mine for work, so I just want a basic work truck with 4x4, I can order a king cab or double cab 4x4 s model, the only option I want is a class 4 trailer hitch ,and that's all, I looked across the entire country and they have none like that, In fact I didn't see a s model with 4x4 and hitch any place in the country. They always have a stupid technology package but no hitch to tow, I would think most people want a hitch for towing so most dealers would order that ,even before any other option, so now I am going to try and order one and see if I can get one the way I want for 2023

Toyota is still king of the midsized trucks. Just wait till they redesigned the all new 2024 or 2025 Tacoma. Heard rumors they may offer a V6 twin turbo charged engine that’s in the new tundra. At least 400 horsepower and 500 ft lbs of torque or maybe more as an option. Heard Toyota will end up adding more horsepower and torque to the tundra as well. That would be badass to have that much power in a light 4wd Tacoma.

Before condemning the floor mats...see how well they wear. The best looking carpeted I had in a Denali wore out is about 9 months (driver side where right foot sat). As for ruber with a pro package, worse than weathertech and that is bad. Slippery when dry can only imaging when wet (weathertech are slippery when wet). My advice is winter, use Husky.) Brightness ok. Seat adjustment you should check before buying. I can say 6'2, proportional body it is a-ok for me. Hood...yes, that could use and extra six inches; need helmet if working on it. Smaller engine moving heavy truck vs. truck not that much heavier with larger engine. Do the math, MPG will be close

I just picked up my 2022 Pro 4X, 2 months ago after switching from a 2021 Tacoma TRD Off-Road and average 24 mpg on my 85% highway, 15% backroad, work commute going 55-60 mph. Not as good as the 26 from the Tacoma but the comfort of the Frontier more than makes up for it. I am 6’ 4” and while my hair may brush the moonroof cover a little bit sometimes, it is only if I sit up perfectly straight. I don’t typically wear a hat while I drive but when I do, I don’t feel the roof at all. I do miss the abundance of cup holders in the Tacoma but the large cup holders in the doors for my 40oz hydro flask is amazing.

Well, take off your hat might help to get in better. I have 2022 PRO4X without leather option package and it comes with orange stitching /accent thru-out the cabin looks much better and fancier beside there is no ventilated seat option for leather which it gets fry pan hot in Summer time. I love my new Frontier and I call it the best all around truck and I have seen off road comparison between Tocoma vs Frontier ...they were neck and neck...well, Tocoma was a little better on the front approaching angle but who takes brand new truck to the rock climbing, I wouldn't. On the Pay-Load testing, truck bed went down only an inch (can't remember it was 500 lbs or 1,000 lbs) and the result was better than all mid size and some of full size truck. Highly recommendable. Make sure you get the bed extender and sport roll bar (2 1/2 inches thickness) for added safety.

I bought a 80k warranty on the Rogue. you buy a 100k warranty if you wat. you should always opt for it if you intend on keeping your truck, I always kept my trucks and God for bid something dose happen , a little part could be huge Bill. I a Chevy s10 in 2001 peice of CRAP, 100k warranty again and the ball joint kept going and I was like wtf and Chevy kept replacing them and must have hated me .... lol , I got to know the service people very well at that point!! so paid it off and bought I bought another Nissan frontier witch was my 3rd Nissan Frontier witch were are so much more reliable . I've owned a 1989,1993,2005 Nissan truck are fun to drive!! Toyota used to pull up to me and want to race 😆🤣 Nissans are faster! So buy the extended warranty along with what they offer! Buy the way , you can talk the price of the warranty down with the finance dept !!! My wife and I did it with the 2018 Sl Rogue, remember your not working the deal to you sign all the papers and your pulling onto the road from the dealership!! My wife and I saved a lot of money getting the warranty down in the long run!! Also us a price club to buy your truck, we have Costco whole Sale clubs. Hope this you out!! Brad.

Tim, is the Frontier still a value leader? How would the price of say, a reasonably equipped SV trim unit, compare to that of a similarly equipped Tacoma or Ranger? The Frontier looks good, but it doesn’t lead the category in any one area, so I believe that it needs to lead in price in order to be highly competitive. Nice video. Thank you.
@Pickuptrucktalk
@Pickuptrucktalk 2 жыл бұрын
I think sort of which is why I had that pricing section in the video. You can build it up to be comparable with the Tacoma, but you can also strip it down and get it at a lower price point. I think you could probably find lower trim levels on the lots for cheaper than a Ranger, however, that is when you can actually find trucks on the lot.

@@Pickuptrucktalk Of course, you could pay more or less, depending upon how well you equip it. The question is whether a comparably equipped Frontier would cost the same, more or less than a Tacoma or Ranger. The old Frontiers could be had for several thousand dollars less than competitive models, comparably equipped. I wonder whether this is still true. From my recent build on the Nissan web site, a well-equipped SV trim was almost $40K, so I doubt that they have the same price advantage as before. I would still consider a Frontier because of the power train and styling inside and out.

This or a Ridgeline? I know they aren't really comparable for capability. However, I've always been a fan of the usability and comfort of the Ridegline, and ADORE that 3.5 V6. @@gagers6620 The Ridgeline of course has its own shortcomings, but it's also so good on some areas. While the infotainment totally sucks along with the push button gear selection in newer models, it's just so damn spacious inside. Tim didn't show it in this video, but everybody else's back seat design/stowage ability is just terrible compared to the Ridgeline. I have 3 teenagers that fit comfortably back there. To some this may not matter so you just have to consider what your needs are.

Some would say a non-turbo engine is preferred, especially for towing. Other brands use turbos, which are "on" constantly during towing, creating mucho wear which likely means replacements ere long. My only dislike is the GDI engine, which will require a major job to clean the carbon off the valves. Toyota has the better engine, DPI. But Toyota seats are terrible for taller people. pros and cons. Wish Nissan had a DPI engine and a larger fuel tank.

Once you take the rebates in to account it was 1 grand less the the Colorado? Fuel mileage is about 1.5 mpg on average more in the full size truck? The only thing I miss with the Colorado is the easy of parking, turning radius other than that the full size truck is so much better.
