2:35 The bag didn't even flinch, but that was clearly a low-blow

Love that double hook - cross. And appreciate how you make the form real clear. Thanks!

The slow motion combined with the speed up is extremely good. Intelligent filming/coaching. I've struggled with the left hook based on my trainer's strict rules about "no vertical fist ever". Since watching this video, I've been using the vertical fist hook and it feels so much more natural. Thanks for showing me how it's really done.

+Melissa. Ur coach is not wrong but it's preference. My coach is the same and I understand why. Be careful not to hit the side of the bag with ur fingers using the vertical fist. It might sometimes look like Nate does here, but he's actually hitting near the front of the bag. A head being smaller he'd land the knuckles.

it saddens me that some coaches are like that. they can't be in your body to know what is more comfortable etc.

Great videos. Love this bag as well. It does not hurt your hands or end up hard at the bottom like others. You can really blast it.

hey man your technique looks pretty good. i hope you're open to slight criticism, i noticed that you tend to rock the weight of your front foot onto your heal which will inhibit your power and also decrease your balance after the shot is landed.

+NateBowerFitness thanks dude, just recently subscribed to your channel, been looking for someone who can show proper technique and form and varieties of combos. JT Van V is really good too but there's too much talking. Yours actually show each ways in slow motion several times and then comes the fast execution on top of that you're also adding different kinds of variations that can be used from one basic hook to a combo of double hook-right combo. Pretty sick tutorial in my opinion. I was actually looking through your videos, especifically looking for a good 1-2 or 1-1-2 combos on a heavy bag and its many different possible variations. I guess i was looking for something similar to this video like a different number of ways to use a 1-2 and a 1-1-2. I hope that when you have some time or when you get a chance, please post a video of it i would love to see the proper technique and form for it! thanks a bunch in advance!

more squared, wide/low stance (not too low), and hands held up high

I have a tendency to bring my feet too close together when moving. Is there a good way to remedy that?

In some of those hooks, the front foot is not pivoted/turned, is there a theory behind it?
@Mrraerae6 жыл бұрын
You don´t have to turn the foot if you don´t want to it doesn´t automatically increase power, a lot of people just like to do it because it helps them rotate their body more into the strike. I guess for most people it´s a bit easier to get power this way, it´s good, especially for boxers. In MMA or kickboxing/thaiboxing it´s a little bit riskier than not turning it, because you expose the back of your calf/knee/thigh for a leg kick counter if you do a dramatic turn with your front foot, and it takes a longer time for you to get back into position to block a kick with your shin, but for boxing I don´t think there´s any downside. Just do it if it feels good and helps you throw some sweet hooks.
@dillonallison57448 жыл бұрын
that was fun to watch and really made me wanna work myself up to throwing one like that. can't help but imagine some random asshole picking a fight and getting dropped from one or two of those badboys!
@bizmonkey0078 жыл бұрын
The left hook can be a tricky punch to land for beginners. Focus on the jab. It's quick, easy to learn, low risk and is still effective enough to break someone's nose.
@elliottgarcia98787 жыл бұрын
I'd rather set the right-cross with a double jab in comparison with left-hooks..

How you throw hook on long distance?? If you throw like that you hit with fingear right?!
@kevinbarlow66406 жыл бұрын
Ta crna zena! M.A no
@Mrraerae6 жыл бұрын
When you throw a long hook try turning your hand over so basically your fist is upside down when you hit it, your thumb is on the bottom side. This way you can hit with the top of the first 2 knuckles instead of the palm side of your fist.
