I hope you’re not as disappointed as I was with the Destination XT. I put them on a 2019 F150 last year and was not impressed with them in winter ❄️ (North Dakota). Traction was less than expected for a 3PMS rated tire, plus tread life was shorter than hoped. I drive a lot of gravel and they “chunk” badly, contributing to higher wear than a tire with a more robust rubber compound. At the end of the 11 month, 30,000 mile run, they are worn to below 4/32” tread depth. The good things are that I still like the way they look and ride on highways, plus I’ve had no punctures or deformities within the carcass.

I have a set of bfg ta ko2, they are a great tire. 3' of snow in my lifted xj with the 33x10.5x15 is really doable. I am having the kenda klever at2 delivered tomorrow for my ram 1500. I cannot stomach the almost 2000.00 price tag for the bfg's. Also for the ram I am swapping out the kanati trail hogs. In my opinion they are better than the ko2's but that may have to do with the heavier truck, bigger tire being an 11.5" wide 35" tall tire and the 20 year difference in the vehicles with the extra power for the deep snow and the traction control etc. For on road traction. That being said they would have to break traction for that to matter and unless I tried they did not on the road or in parking lots that were ill maintained even starting in 2wd on steep hills. One gripe was the siping all but disappeared after 10,000 miles but the tires went 60,000 miles and never really got stuck. They are racing slicks now however. But the siping issue is why I opted to spend an extra 240.00 for the kenda. We will see how they do. Great reputation but nobody really doing a customer review on these tires. I have with the kanati tires on my you tube channel and will this winter for the kendas aswell. I can't wait to see how they go.

I rate the Cooper Discoverer AT3s higher than the BFG KO2s in snow, with considerably less slippage, especially moving out of hard ice ruts made previously by other cars. However, the best tyres I ve ever used in snow are the Toyo Open Country AT3s. Have Toyos on my Y61 Patrol, KO2s on the Hilux and Cooper AT3 XLTs on the Land Cruiser 80 series.

If I hadn't been sitting down, I would have fallen over. I live just minutes from your shop and never new you existed! Oh wait, it gets better. I wanted to buy a set of 315/75-16 Milestar Patagonia tires. Local shops here couldn't or wouldn't order or install a tire that size. I had the opportunity to buy a set of used BFG KO2 in that size and had a shop in Menasha install them. Now I'm out another pile of money, because for all the research and hunting I did, nothing. I'll be stopping in some day. After I recoup the cost of now buying two sets of tires in about a year and half. Live and learn I guess.

Milestars are garbage. On a list of tire brands to NOT buy. Whenever I'm buying anything costly, which to me is over 5 or 6 hundred bucks, I research the crap outta them. My favorite tires are Firestone Destination ATs. Had two sets on a Chevy I don't own anymore. Impressive tread wear and driving through snow here in the Midwest was like butter. Sorry about your ordeal. I would definitely give Falkens a shot.

It's a strange phenomenon, how in Europe they actually do real tire tests constantly, but so few in North America. Germans(a nation of 83 million people) have at the very minimum 4 medias and an automobile association do several proper, thorough comparison tests every year. Swedes(only 10 million people) have had several medias do really good, big tire tests at least twice a year (at minimum one for summer tires and another for winter tires, nowadays also testing all season tires because Americans have made those horrible things spread to Europe a bit too). Finns (only 5 million people) have at least 2 medias do proper tire tests same as Swedes. Switzerland doesn't do as many as Finns and Swedes, but several every year anyway. I'm not sure how many the other dozen European nations do, but they do very many of these tests. These tests are no small thing, requiring proper testing facilities, lots of working hours from professionals. They have many engineers, also many people maintaining the test facility, a huge amount of work changing the tires and measuring for at least half a dozen sets multiple times. They spend a massive amount of time setting up measuring devices, collecting data, analyzing, then compiling everything into the presented data. Then in the North America, home of many huge car manufacturer corporations, home of many tire manufacturers, countless supplier companies, there are barely any proper tire tests. Mostly just companies advertising their products like this site, maybe giving some nice anecdote-based recommendations about the tires but not bases on real data. I'm not knocking this video or this channel at all, I'm not saying every small company and media should be doing these intense, somewhat costly tire tests, of course not. I'm saying it's a shame there isn't a culture or societal/market structure in North America that would result in more proper testing for proper data, as it would for sure benefit this channel's company too and their customers. We all benefit from more data, and you can only get that from proper, methodical testing. For example I saw a winter test done in Sweden, by a certain British tire reviewer channel, I think funded by General tires, testing a whole range of American SUV tires (the spread of General's range), and it was really valuable to know with accurate, reliable data, as well as the description of a professional, what these very different tire types are like in different winter driving situations. It really would be great if there were a lot more proper, impartial, professionally done tire tests in North America too. And yes, I know that there are some tests done in America, but it's a small amount and many of the tests are not done by impartial enough people/companies. Especially since so many different types of tires are used on so many different types of vehicles in so wildly different conditions in North America. USA + Canada have a population of over 370 million people, a huge market of affluent people with an incredible amount of cars, trucks and other wheeled vehicles, and as I said have got many huge automotive corporations as well as tire manufacturers. Really there should be a market for Americans to do what countless nations a fraction of the size, often with either no automotive companies (like Finland and Switzerland) or no tire manufacturers (like Sweden) can do, funded by a fraction of the amount of people.

Which would you pick if you have a big 1 ton Van that will tow a heavy enough trailer from Mexico, through the USA and into Canada in the summer (texas summer) and stay in Alberta for a year (Winter in Calgary). Or would you rather destroy 1 set of tires in the trip and drive them into Autumm and then replace them with a better performing tire? I was actually thinking about Yokohamma G015, Kumho AT52 or Yokohama geolandar XAT to avoid the weight and other dissadvantages of a KO2
