Yeah those are must haves. I do have to admit I do not have a good respirator mask yet but that is because all my carving is hand tools with gouges and mallet, hand tool relief carving is what made me fall in love with wood carving. If someone has an all hand tools carving shop they could probably get away with not having a respirator since wood chips and shavings from hand tools are generally too big to create inhalation problems. Still a good idea to get one though since it is essential if I ever decide to add power tools to the mix.

Floor mats make your body happy which makes you and your projects happy. Guess you could say the same about the PPE suggestions too. Love me a good dad joke

All definitely must-haves, especially the respirator. The sawdust from many types of wood is toxic to some degree (some really quite toxic), and you *do not* want to breath it. Even getting sawdust on your skin can be a problem. I had a severe allergic reaction from the dust of aromatic cedar (the kind that is used to line chests and closets) getting on the skin on my arms. I got a really nasty rash and had to use a prescription steroid cream for a long time to cure it, and even after that, the skin on my arms was permanently discolored a bit. So yes, wear a respirator, a shirt with long sleeves, and other PPE. It's kind of a hassle to put it on and take it off, but it's worth it.

That is quite the reaction and so sorry to hear! 100% love my respirator and actually plan to look into the full-face style with the filter that hooks to the belt. Seems like a futuristic solution to keep sinus issues at bay!

A pancake compressor. So many uses! Like blowing off dust before going back into the rest of the house. Or blowing out your mask that you left wrong side up on the bench (like me) 🤣.

Absolutely! My pancake air compressor is pretty much the loudest machine I own, but it's a must-have for sure. Scares the crap out of me when it kicks on to recharge randomly, too.
