How would you mix in the two to train for SFAS? I dont see how one can do Crossfit/BJJ/Running in order to prep for a school. Unless you train BJJ once a week, maybe two...but you wouldnt be progressing
@The.Mr.Faucet
@The.Mr.Faucet 3 жыл бұрын
@@ijdiaz1 I would train crossfit in the morning and would train BJJ minimum 3 times a week for an hour minimum. Add 1 or 2 long rucks on the other days and you'd be set up pretty good. Distance running isn't really needed more than once a week. Sprints is what will build the stamina you need.

Not really into CrossFit, so I do a constantly varying cross between powerlifting, bodybuilding, and calisthenics. Sometimes heavy, sometimes high rep, sometimes a mix of both. I make sure to blast my body from every angle, twice a day, plus a run or ruck… Every. Single. Day.

What is your best advice for mitigating shin splints from an increased amount of running and rucking for SFAS Prep? From what I’ve been researching the best thing is to stretch and take a break from running/rucking. Cross train with biking/other forms of cardio. I’m on a timeline and don’t want to screw up the training program I’m following, but don’t want to fall into the trap of being to hard headed and get injured before even reporting by over training/pushing through it. My plan is to cross trail on the bike/take a week off the program and get back at it next week.

@@FNGACADEMY shin splints are microtears in the muscles. Stretches, massage, and ice get the inflamatory products out of the tissues. Good advice FNG. . . .
@LA_Commander
@LA_Commander Жыл бұрын
Taylor, shin splints are a very common problem. One of the biggest causes of it that I've seen is people trying to do too much too soon. So workout and gradually increase the length of your runs, give your body time to get adjusted. Also, like others have said, good stretching before and after is huge. Especially your calves and hamstrings. Have good shoes! Many people have the wrong shoes for their foot type. If you have a flat arch or a high arch, orthotics can help. Make sure you have the best shoes for your feet. Finally, make sure all the muscles in your legs and hips are strong, to help take some of the stress off those shins. I hope that helps!

Looks like this will be too little too late given you asked this 2yrs ago...but tibialis raises combined with subsequent calf/times stretching is the best preventative option

I am not from the US but don't do CrossFit. Do cross-training. Take crossfit workouts and modify them to be safer, have a cycle of training. Make sure strength training involving compound movements is the base. Add in a lot of endurance training like running and rucking. Make sure you do a lot of calisthenics for support. Then take some CrossFit workouts and do them safely. Ain't no point being good at Crossfit when your body is broken and you can't join.
